Chapter 270 Orniss & Kokabiel

Beyond Sirzechs and his retinue, even Katerea wore a strange, hesitant expression, as though the words she wanted to say refused to leave her mouth.
Already running out of patience, Vali snapped his head toward the dark-skinned beauty. “The hell is wrong with you, Leviathan?”
Katerea answered with deliberate care. “The current Red Dragon Emperor may have started as an ordinary human, but he is a prodigy. In less than a year of cultivation, he defeated Azazel, the former Governor General of the Fallen Angels.”
”I know that already,” Vali replied, arrogance plain in his voice. “He forced out a Balance Breaker for five seconds and nearly killed himself doing it. I mastered Balance Breaker long ago. As long as I do not push myself too far, the side effects are almost negligible aside from a small loss of lifespan.”
As one of the descendants of the original Demon Kings, Katerea offered a measured warning. “The Red Dragon Emperor possesses a unique ability. This operation is not only meant to shatter the Three Factions’ peace treaty. We are also here to bring him into our ranks.”
Aki had no interest in joining a conversation with a battle addict like Vali, but Katerea’s declaration finally drew a response from him.
”Sorry, but you’re not really my type.”
The remark was not meant as an insult. Katerea was undeniably attractive, with a tall figure and striking features, yet attraction was personal. Aki simply did not feel any particular interest.
For most women, having their charm dismissed would sting. For someone with Katerea’s temperament, it was a direct provocation.
”Is that so?” A faint smile appeared on her lips, though her eyes remained cold. “It does not matter whether you’re interested or not. I’ll make you interested.”
The look in her eyes made her intentions clear enough. If persuasion failed, she had no objection to using force. Once he was in Khaos Brigade hands, she could use him however the Leviathan family required, whether to strengthen their forces or secure their future.
Seriously?
Watching the predatory gleam in her gaze, Aki rubbed the back of his head. The leaders of the three major races were standing right there, yet somehow everyone seemed obsessed with him.
Setting aside the more troubling implications, Katerea’s proposal was not entirely without benefits. From a purely practical standpoint, Dual Cultivation with someone at her level could dramatically increase his strength. If things went well, he might even break through another barrier and secure his place among the strongest beings in the Three Realms.
Unfortunately, the deal came bundled with the Khaos Brigade.
That alone made it impossible.
Aki knew his limits. At his current level, he stood no chance against Ophis, the Infinite Dragon God. Even her title suggested an existence beyond ordinary gods. Like the Ten Core Gods, she remained within the Three Realms yet operated on a level that few could even comprehend. If she chose to act personally, there were almost no beings capable of stopping her.
The two Khaos Brigade members stood there with complete confidence, as though victory was already guaranteed, but Aki felt no pressure. His side possessed twice as many Demon King-class fighters. There was no realistic scenario where he got dragged away in chains.
As though he had sensed Aki’s thoughts, Vali spoke again.
”Katerea, where are the other two?”
”They’ll arrive shortly.”
She remained perfectly calm. Since they had chosen a direct assault, the Khaos Brigade had prepared extensively. Katerea considered herself talented, but she was not foolish enough to challenge the leaders of the Three Realms with only two allies. Even if they were not the strongest figures within their factions, they were still among the most powerful beings alive.
As both sides held their positions, the confrontation settled into a heavy silence.
Vali’s connection to the Fallen Angels was one matter, but the revelation surrounding Sirzechs Lucifer’s bloodline turned the situation into a Devil affair as well. The current Four Great Satans had risen only after the previous generation fell, and the descendants of those defeated families had never forgotten that history.
Because of that, neither Shemhaza nor Michael showed any urgency. Peace remained important, but there was no reason for the Fallen Angels or Angels to throw themselves into danger while the Devils dealt with the consequences of their own past.
For Sirzechs and Serafall, however, things were not so simple.
Facing the descendants of the Lucifer and Leviathan families, they could not completely cast aside their guilt. The actions of the original Satans had been driven by necessity, yet necessity did not erase the stain of betrayal. As a result, both Demon Kings remained cautious, focusing on restraint rather than aggression.
What troubled them even more was the path those surviving bloodlines had chosen.
After losing everything, the remnants of the old families had embraced the abyss. Much like the Ten Core Gods hidden away in Heaven, they had vanished into places where neither Angels nor Devils could easily reach them. Now they had resurfaced alongside the Khaos Brigade, intent on dragging the world back toward war.
Neither Sirzechs nor Serafall wished to strike first.
The silence stretched on.
Eventually, the mass-produced creatures that had flooded the battlefield seemed to exhaust themselves. One after another, they stopped moving until an eerie stillness settled over the entire area.
Then, somehow, every gaze turned toward Aki.
You’ve got to be kidding me.
Aki stared straight ahead and refused to meet anyone’s eyes.
There are six Demon King-class monsters standing here. Why is everyone looking at me?
If they had been six SSS-ranks instead, he would have jumped into the fight without hesitation.
Although he had never personally tested himself against an SSS-rank opponent, he suspected the Boosted Gear would let him handle several at once. Still, there was no reason to force a Balance Breaker now. If necessary, he could probably maintain it for ten seconds—five seconds per Demon King-class enemy, at least according to his own optimistic calculations.
But optimism was not the same thing as sanity.
His side held the advantage. Charging forward now would be idiotic.
Hummmmm…
A green magic circle and a yellow one appeared in the air.
The moment they appeared, both Shemhaza and Michael changed expression.
This is bad.
The realization crossed their minds almost simultaneously.
The yellow circle opened first.
A middle-aged man stepped out, his pale face twisted into a savage grin. Behind him spread twelve obsidian wings.
That sight alone was enough.
Kokabiel had become a Demon King-class Fallen Angel.
The green circle released a second figure, a blue-and-white humanoid entity unlike any race Aki immediately recognized. Dense holy power radiated from its body, and although the structures extending from its lower back resembled wings, they looked far more artificial than those of any angel.
Compared to Michael’s refined appearance, the creature resembled a weapon given human form.
”Orniss. Kokabiel. You’re late.”
Vali sounded almost pleased. With everyone finally assembled, the battle could begin.
”Ke-he-he. Slipping past our own people took a little time.”
Kokabiel licked his lips before turning toward Shemhaza.

”Lord Shemhaza, you look surprised.”
His laughter echoed across the battlefield.
”Are you surprised to see me here? Or surprised by how strong I’ve become? Maybe both. Ke-he-he!”
Shemhaza’s expression darkened.
Kokabiel had always been one of the most extreme advocates for war among the Fallen Angels, so his appearance with the Khaos Brigade was shocking but understandable.
What truly unsettled him was the pair of extra wings.
The Kokabiel he remembered possessed only ten.
Now there were twelve.
In the past, he had lacked the strength to challenge Azazel’s faction directly. With Azazel gone and his own power having reached a completely new level, that limitation no longer existed.
If Shemhaza died here, the balance within the Fallen Angels would collapse.
Michael looked no better.
For the first time since Aki had met him, the gentle and handsome Archangel radiated unmistakable killing intent.
