Volume 3 Chapter 5 Kibe Family Visit (Yurina)

Edited by: Kanaa-senpai

The sleepover tour moved on to its second stop: Yurina’s house.

We had originally planned to stay at Risa’s place first, but circumstances changed at the last minute, forcing us to rearrange the schedule.

I stood in front of the Kibe family home, a traditional single-story Japanese house about fifteen minutes from Risa’s. The property was surprisingly large, even by local standards, and a weathered old dojo stood near the main building. It looked remarkably similar to the one at Risa’s house. If I had to guess, this was the original, and Risa’s family had modeled theirs after it.

 ”Minoru-sama, welcome. Please, come in.”

Yurina greeted me at the entrance and slid the door open. Inside, both her mother and grandmother were waiting in formal seiza. The sight immediately made me tense up.

 ”This is Grandmother.”

”Welcome,” the elderly woman said with a polite bow. “We are honored to have you.”

The moment Yurina finished the introduction, her grandmother lowered her head deeply. Her mother followed suit, bowing until her forehead nearly touched the floor. It was practically a full dogeza.

”It is a pleasure to meet you as well.”

Caught completely off guard, I found myself returning the bow with equal force.

(I should have just stayed dignified,)

The realization hit me a second later. I was a “Strong-Male” visiting the home of one of my group’s “Strong-Females”; there was no need to go that far. A polite nod would have been more than enough. This sort of thing was exactly why I ended up getting pushed around.

Fortunately, neither of them seemed confused when they looked up. They probably did not know the etiquette expected among sorcerers, so I was safe.

”I’ll introduce you to everyone else. This way.”

Following Yurina down the hallway, I was led to a room where the rest of the family had gathered.

Aside from her father, the others were her siblings—four brothers and one younger sister. If I remembered correctly, Yurina had two older brothers, three younger brothers, and one younger sister, making her the third child and the eldest daughter.

One person was missing. Her eldest brother had already graduated and started working, so he was apparently out of the house.

The youngest sister had only recently entered elementary school. Looking at the family, I could not help thinking her parents had put in some serious effort. Large families were not unheard of in this world, but seven children was still impressive.

Out of all of them, only Yurina had become a sorcerer. In gaming terms, her parents had rolled an SSR with their first success and spent years hoping lightning would strike twice.

After I was guided to the seat of honor, introductions began.

They were simple enough—names, greetings, and a few polite exchanges. Once the formalities ended, the siblings excused themselves, leaving only Yurina, her parents, and her grandmother in the room.

A moment later, I heard whispering from the hallway.

”Sis is actin’ totally different, ain’t she?”

 ”Yeah. She’s so quiet.”

”Is that her boyfriend? Doesn’t he look kinda plain?”

”Watch your mouth. He’s stronger than Yurina, you know.”

 ”Seriously?”

”One flick and he’d knock you out cold.”

The walls might as well have been made of paper.

”Please excuse me for a moment,” Yurina said with an embarrassed smile.

She slipped out of the room, and the whispers vanished instantly. Ten seconds later, she returned as if nothing had happened.

”Thank you for having me today,” I said.

”Oh, don’t be so formal,” her father replied warmly. “Make yourself at home.”

He seemed like a genuinely kind man. The Kibe family dojo belonged to him, and despite being Plain-folk, he was apparently strong enough that Yurina still could not defeat him in a purely physical contest.

That alone made me want to test myself against him.

As for Yurina’s grandmother, she possessed an innate sorcery called Severing Sorcery. Rather than living as a sorcerer, however, she had chosen an ordinary life. Since she never took on a sorcerer’s responsibilities, she also gave up the privileges that came with them.

That explained why Yurina had struggled to learn how to train her ability. For everyday life, using it as a replacement for a kitchen knife or hatchet had been more than enough.

Once the greetings were over, we left the room. Unlike the Takino household, the rest of the family did not disappear to give us privacy.

Instead, we headed for Yurina’s room.

The problem was that she shared it with her younger sister.

The girl was supposed to spend the night with her mother, but during the day she stubbornly insisted on talking to her sister’s boyfriend—which unfortunately meant me.

Before long, Yurina and I found ourselves sitting on the tatami while her little sister launched a full-scale interrogation…

 —

 Summary:

Minoru arrives at the Kibe family home for a group sleepover, navigating traditional greetings and an interrogation by Yurina’s younger sister. After demonstrating his strength against the family members in their dojo, he settles in for the night. The night culminates in a tense, quiet sexual encounter with Yurina while trying to remain unheard by the sister.
