Volume 4 Chapter 34 Red Sea

Edited by: Kanaa-senpai

The Amazoness delegation did not explicitly state it, but their guarded way hinted that the hostage, Rosa, was no longer in Suez. Even if only a guess, their suggestion of a land route left no room for discussion.

”Hmph. If I can’t find her, I’ll turn your capital into a sea of fire.”

Perhaps she understood the firepower of the Black Ships, as the face of the Amazoness leader, Ade, twisted in clear fear.

Threatening to turn their capital into a sea of fire was an order given by the Major. I spoke the words as ordered, but it felt exactly like asking them to kill me.

The Black Amazoness standing beside Princess Ade radiated a clear, killing intent.

”What’s the meaning of this? Ain’t this supposed to be a place to negotiate a hostage exchange?”

The Major hadn’t told me to say that, but since my life was on the line, I had to speak. Besides, why wasn’t the Mamluk General stepping in to stop this?

”If you’re goin’ that far, where did you take Nikaure?”

No, she was still in “Tsukushi,” but how could I answer? The Major had told me to just make something up. I hadn’t met Nikaure myself, so there was a slight pause. Princess Ade, never missing an opening, sent a triumphant, nasty grin toward me.

Just then, Maria slipped something onto the table from the side—a gold chain with a blue gemstone—and slid it toward Princess Ade. It was the same piece that the Princess and the other Amazonesses wore on their foreheads.

As the Princess picked it up, her gaze snapped to us.

 ”Is Nikaure alive?”

It seemed this piece of jewelry belonged to Nikaure-princess. Maria answered her shortly, “She is alive,” to the Princess’s question, her face hard after confirming the item in her hand.

 ”Then, let’s go.”

Kenze stood up, and just as we were about to leave the scene.

 ”Kenze, I’m holdin’ your child.”

Reacting to the very thing she feared, Kenze came to a halt.

”The Amazoness, they are born easily, and they die easily.”

She said that, and then locked eyes with Princess Ade. I knew from witnessing the Haritz Rebellion and our time in Rus just how dearly she had raised her child, Zaboo. It was not something she could simply give up.

”So, the myths were passed down to Tashkurgan as well.”

Kenze didn’t answer the Princess’s words and started walking, so I followed. My heart hammered, not just from the terror of the situation, but from the effort to read Kenze’s inner state. By the way, Tashkurgan was the hometown of Kenze. It was the stronghold for a group of Amazonesses in the heart of the Central Continent.

 ”※□! “

Suddenly, the Black Amazoness let out a war cry in an unknown language, jumped onto the table, and drew her sword. “Are you serious?” Kenze grabbed me, urgin’ me to move first. Lookin’ back, I saw Maria standin’ still, lookin’ up at the Black Amazoness.

 ”Maria, we’re leavin’!”

The moment I called out and she looked toward me, the Black Amazoness slashed her sword.

If Maria hadn’t dodged by pure luck, that arc would have cut her throat. The tip of the blade, missin’ her by a hair, tore through her sailor suit from the collar to the armpit.

For some reason, the Black Amazoness repositioned her sword while still on the table.

Maria’s chest area—the fabric was cut and slowly peeled back, exposin’ her full breasts covered only by her undergarments. I found myself thinkin’ they were a match for Katarina’s in size and shape, but now was hardly the time to be distracted by that.

 ”Don’t kill her!”

A fireball began to bloom in Maria’s hand. If she, with her monstrous mana capacity, got serious, the Black Amazoness standin’ on the table would be burned to ash in an instant.

I don’t know if it was my voice that weakened her resolve, but though the Black Amazoness was briefly engulfed by the fireball, she merely ended up with singed hair and survived.

As the three of us ran out of the blue-domed building, we noticed something strange: the Amazonesses in the center of the garden had drawn their swords and were lookin’ our way. “There’s no way to get past ’em without killin’ anyone,” I thought while runnin’.

Just then, the sky darkened, and we were hit by a thunderous sound and crushin’ wind. When the wind subsided and I looked up, Type 98 Golems stood there, effectively breakin’ the garden’s perfect symmetry. At the same time, the signature long arms of the Type 98 reached out, scoopin’ up Kenze, Maria, and me all at once.

The pressure was set perfectly, so it didn’t hurt, but I could feel the clear revulsion radiatin’ from Maria—who was still exposed on her left side, skin-to-skin contact aside. The Golems, havin’ scooped up Sonya | Major and Sarah in the same fashion, brought their arms in and leaped.

Until that moment, Maria had been stretchin’ her hands against the wall of the Golem’s hand to avoid contact with me, but the intense G-force of the jump shifted our bodies, and my face was pressed directly against her newly exposed breast.

 ’I’ll kill you!’

”That’s easy for you to say!” Yet, the landin’ also carried enough G-force to shift her undergarments, and her n**ple brushed against the tip of my nose.

 ’I’ll kill you!’

”This is bad.” If she leached my mana here, I’d be captured by the Amazonesses and truly die.

 ’It was an unavoidable accident!’

I shouted via telepathy as we were set on the ground. While Maria was busy adjustin’ her undergarments, I grabbed Kenze and jumped onto the designated horse. Maria, lookin’ like she had plenty more to say, boarded a horse alongside Sonya | Major, and the Golems took the lead as we galloped toward the planned beach.

 ”What about Zaboo (Kenze’s child)?”

”It is fine. Accordin’ to the code, they will not be killed.”

I wanted to argue, but it was pointless, so I stayed silent. Sarah was also on horseback, apparently operatin’ the Type 95 Golems to act as rear guard, but the Amazonesses did not pursue us.

The beach was less than a kilometer away. I called out to Sonya, choosin’ a route with fewer people.

We reached the beach in about five minutes. Both the people and the Golems were recovered by the “Tsukushi,” which was equipped for landin’ operations.

Lookin’ back, there were no Amazonesses or Turku soldiers to be seen. It was anticlimactic.

 ”Boy, take Maria with you.”

Just as we were preparin’ to dock with the “Izumo,” the Major dropped an incredible request.

”No way. She’s been telepathically tellin’ me she’ll ‘kill’ me this whole time. Even if it’s an order from the Major, that’s impossible.”

”Are you sure? Maria has interrogated Nikaure; she knows the most about how to get to Nymphai and the Dwarf Kingdom of Kush.”

When I suggested she just write it down, the Major stated flatly that it was impossible because her memories were largely visual, and that I had no choice but to take her.

”Then, can I take Kenze too?”

This wasn’t because of Maria, but because havin’ her there would put me at ease. Regardin’ that, she had been on board as an Interpreter for the “Tsukushi,” but since the ground team led by Sonya—who had their own interpreters—was returnin’ home on the “Tsukushi,” the request was approved.

Once the “Tsukushi” had loaded the three of us onto the “Izumo,” it set course for home. Since Katarina had not yet fully healed,的脸庞, I returned to the bridge of the “Izumo” and, despite bein’ exhausted, was ordered by the Captain to launch the [fixed-wing drone] for surveillance.

It was just past midday, and there was no wind. The only things movin’ in the mix of fresh and salt water lake were the “Izumo” and the “Tsukushi.” There were some small merchant boats and fishin’ vessels, but they were well out of our path.

”Must be nice, they get to go home.”

A young man on the bridge crew looked out the rear window at the “Tsukushi” with envy.

”I want to go home, too.”

The “Tsukushi” was already quite small, about fifty meters in the air, and it was gettin’ so far away that even the [fixed-wing drone] couldn’t reach that altitude. I was just about to return when I heard the sound of an explosion from the direction of the “Tsukushi.” I turned my gaze, and a minute later, a water column rose, followed shortly by the distinct sound of dynamite.

When I sent the returnin’ [fixed-wing drone] back up, I could see several small ships that had attacked us, and the “Tsukushi,” trailin’ thick black smoke, pushin’ right through them.

As the “Tsukushi” grew smaller, I heard another explosion, but the black smoke kept movin’ forward. The Captain judged they would be fine, so we headed south through the Suez Canal, aimin’ for the Nymphai Kingdom.
