Chapter 100 The Princess’s Protection and Information War
Edited by: Kanaa-senpai
After I’d more or less forcibly “rescued” Princess Liliana from the criminal organization, she was now being carefully protected in the basement of Grimlock Manor.
It was only a temporary arrangement, but given the impossibly complicated circumstances surrounding me at the moment, I’d concluded it was the best course of action.
Fortunately, I was steadily building a good relationship with her loyal guardian knight—
Serena Crystalight.
Eventually, if I could arrange for her to “accidentally discover” Princess Liliana and return her to the Royal Palace, this troublesome incident could be brought to a beautiful close.
I’d need to work out the specifics of that plan later.
But surprisingly, the princess herself had quickly warmed up to my Dedicated Slave1, Mina, the beast-kin Kuuko, and Lumia—another beast-kin princess. My personal maid, Lilia, was also fussing over her like a real older sister.
Thanks to that, Princess Liliana seemed to be enjoying this “confinement”—no, “protective custody”—without too much stress.
Which meant there was no urgent need to rush her back to the Royal Palace.
Personally, I wanted to burn into my memory just a little longer the adorable sight of Mina trying so hard to act like a big sister to the newcomer, Liliana…
I had my reasons.
* * *
The day after I’d “rescued” her.
I headed to school with a straight face, as if nothing had happened.
Prince Liam and the others, including Lady Elenor, were also attending classes today.
During lunch break, I approached Lady Elenor, who was standing listlessly in the courtyard, and casually tried to extract some information about the current situation.
”Hey. Found that princess of yours yet?” I asked.
”…You again,” she replied, her tone dripping with disdain. “I’m not in the mood to deal with you right now. Remove yourself from my sight.”
She was genuinely in a bad mood, which was rare. Normally, she’d dish out some “loving punishment”2 at this point, but I decided to hold back today.
I could be considerate when I wanted to be.
I wasn’t such a brute that I’d ignore the exhaustion of a sister deeply worried about her beloved younger sister just to mess with her.
”Come on, don’t be like that,” I said, keeping my voice casual. “I helped with your search that night, didn’t I? I can keep lending a hand, so just tell me the full situation.”
”…I suppose you are better than nothing,” she admitted reluctantly.
According to Lady Elenor, the search for Princess Liliana was still ongoing. But they had no solid leads and were completely stumped.
Well, that was only natural.
During the initial investigation, they’d wasted valuable personnel and time searching my theater—a direction completely different from where Liliana had actually been taken. Tracking down the perpetrators would now be extremely difficult.
From here on, they’d have no choice but to painstakingly follow every lead through interviews and witness accounts. But since the crime had occurred at night, there were almost no definitive witnesses, making the pursuit incredibly tough. For Prince Liam and the others, following Liliana’s trail and finding her whereabouts was like grasping at clouds3.
The future investigation strategy apparently involved searching every suspicious facility and noble estate in the Royal Capital indiscriminately.
(I suppose that’s the only option they have left.)
Liliana was currently in my manor. So if this blanket search continued, they’d eventually find her for sure.
However, Prince Liam and his party had already thoroughly searched my theater, and I’d shown myself to be extremely cooperative during that search. Because of that, suspicion toward me had already been cleared.
In other words, Grimlock Manor in the Royal Capital was quite low on the priority list for a forced search.
(They’re probably suspicious of my father, though…)
That bought me some time. I’d decide what to do with Liliana in the meantime.
* * *
As I was talking with Lady Elenor in the courtyard, predictably, that guy showed up.
He’d apparently spotted me getting cozy with Lady Elenor with those hawk-like eyes of his.
”Grimlock! Just what do you think you’re doing?!” Elliot demanded, his voice sharp and cutting. “Get away from Lady Elenor this instant! A suspicious man of unknown origins reeking of some foul stench like you has no business approaching a noble princess!”
His sharp tongue was as cutting as ever.
But today, his barbs were even more biting than usual. Probably frustrated that the search for Princess Liliana had hit a dead end.
Not that I was about to forgive his outburst.
The most effective way to get back at Elliot was to subject Lady Elenor to some kind of “perverse punishment” and stoke the flames of this man’s jealousy even further.
But I’d decided not to lay a hand on Lady Elenor today.
So I’d retaliate through other means. I casually walked up to Elliot, wrapped my arm around his slender neck from behind—
And squeezed hard.
A much more direct and straightforward revenge than punishing Lady Elenor.
”Ugh…! Gwaah…!” Elliot choked out.
My monstrous strength, enhanced by mana4. In my grip, Elliot let out pained groans.
”Hey now, don’t get your panties in a twist, you four-eyed shit5,” I said, my voice calm and mocking. “I’ll make sure to find that missing princess for you. —You just go home quietly and suck your mommy’s tits6 like a good little boy.”
Elliot’s face flushed red with rage, but I didn’t budge an inch.
”Sigh… Will you two kindly cease this vulgar display?” Lady Elenor interjected, her voice cold and tinged with exasperation.
At her words, I finally released Elliot.
”Guh…! Y-You bastard…! Cough, cough…! I won’t forgive you for this, Grimlock…!” Elliot spat between coughs.
Without so much as a glance at the pathetic man on his hands and knees, coughing violently, I strode leisurely back toward my classroom.
”Find her!” he called after me—
I’d already secured Princess Liliana. The only question now was how to “return” her to the Royal Family in the most effective way possible. Simple as that. But the “best way” still hadn’t come to me.
”Well, what to do…?” I muttered to myself.
With that thought lingering at the back of my mind, I dutifully sat through another boring day of classes.
* * *
Back home, I was absorbed in reading a grimoire about demon lords in my private study.
The only sound was the turning of pages—
When a visitor arrived, unannounced.
The head butler of the Grimlock family—Oscar Blackwell, the man who managed all the servants across the vast Grimlock territories, second only to my father, Gaius, in authority.
(…To come all the way out here from the frontier. What could he possibly want?)
Had he simply come to check on me?
Or had something untoward occurred at the border with the Empire—
The front lines of the frontier?
Liliana’s capture… couldn’t be related, right? There’s no way he’d know.
Either way, I wouldn’t know until I met him face to face.
”Show him in,” I told the butler who’d reported to me, instructing him to bring Oscar Blackwell, my father’s trusted confidant, into my private study.
The sun had begun to set, casting the evening in quiet twilight.
Something was about to set in motion.

Summary:
Leon has successfully hidden Princess Liliana in Grimlock Manor after a staged rescue, while the royal search effort remains hopelessly misdirected. He confirms his alibi is solid after the royals thoroughly searched his theater and cleared him of suspicion. The arrival of Oscar Blackwell from the frontier introduces an unknown variable that could disrupt Leon’s plans for Liliana’s return.
—
Trivia:
Leon uses his knowledge of the game’s script to manipulate events, but he’s uncertain about the “best way” to return Liliana.
The royal search team wasted critical time searching Leon’s theater instead of the actual direction Liliana was taken.
Leon is building a positive relationship with Serena Crystalight, Liliana’s guardian knight, to orchestrate a “discovery” later.
Elenor’s “loving punishment” is a recurring dynamic between her and Leon, indicating a sadomasochistic undercurrent.
Elliot’s jealousy toward Leon is a primary motivation for his hostility and insults.
The frontier border with the Empire is significant enough that Oscar’s sudden arrival raises concerns of military or political issues.
Leon suspects the royals might be suspicious of his father, Gaius, regarding Liliana’s disappearance.
Liliana has adapted well to her “protective custody” at the manor, forming bonds with Mina, Kuuko, and Lumia.
The basement of Grimlock Manor serves as the current temporary shelter for Liliana.
Leon’s internal thoughts reveal a mix of calculated strategy and personal amusement at Mina’s motherly behavior.
