Volume 9 Chapter 11 Onigashima Trip – Onigashima Dungeon
Edited by: Kanaa-senpai
In the afternoon, we departed for Onigashima Dungeon as planned.
The dungeon’s location was on the opposite side of the harbor from this location. It was inside a cave at the foot of a mountain covered in rocky terrain, slightly too far to walk. We had Shizuku-san arrange a bus for us.
Since we weren’t exploring, we had no equipment or anything. Clothing was free choice. Aside from Naruse Estate Dungeon, this was my first time entering a dungeon in casual clothes.
Inside the microbus, Asari, sitting in front of me, turned around and spoke.
”Minoru-san, hope we can get in.”
”Yeah.”
”Is Onigashima’s Administrator also an Ancient Land Deity? Our family has a tradition that Onigahara’s First Generation managed the dungeon’s interior. There might be a chance.”
”Hope so.”
Sitting next to Asari was Mitsuki. As Mitsuki pointed out, the Onigahara clan had managed Onigashima Dungeon for many years. This meant a sorcerer clan managing the Dungeon Management Building, not that they managed the dungeon itself. Whether we could enter was unknown.
”If I can’t enter, you all go in without me.”
”Understood. If that happens, we’ll come right back out.”
”No need to rush. Just experiencing the B-rank atmosphere would be good enough.”
”Understood. It’s supposed to be pretty amazing. Big bro said he had a tough time getting used to it too.”
At B-rank, just entering a dungeon causes various effects. You need to use ancestral knowledge to overcome debuffs and fatal gimmicks.
”What are Onigashima Dungeon’s characteristics?”
”Apparently you’ll know when you enter. I haven’t heard the details either. Lots of mineral-type drops, though.”
”So it’s a material source for Onigahara Workshop.”
”Used to be. Not so much anymore. But rare metals that occasionally drop still fetch good prices.”
”Heh.”
I’d like to try exploring once we get official permission.
While we were talking, the bus passed the harbor, ran along the coastline, and approached the rocky mountain.
”We’ve arrived.”
Triggered by Shizuku-san’s voice as she parked the bus in the lot, everyone unbuckled and got out.
Onigashima Dungeon’s Management Building looked about as a Management Building looked about as small and old as Sword-Hammer Cave’s—like an old office building. Only parking for five cars.
As I gazed at the building, Manaka, standing next to me, spoke up.
”Apparently this also serves as the Management Building for the island’s submarine cable landing station.”
”Typical. A pattern where they try to utilize a Dungeon Management Building and give it another role too.”
”Thinking about the future, rebuilding would probably be better.”
”Maybe the Momotaro clan is pushing miscellaneous work onto the Oni clan.”
Apparently it’s common to save costs by sharing unused public facilities for other purposes. The district bigwigs decide that stuff. Nothing to do with us right now.
”Hey, Minoru, over here. Handle the procedures.”
”Got it. Coming.”
Mitsuki, who had gone ahead, was calling from the building entrance.
At the reception right inside, I filled out the entry application forms. Just write everyone’s names and check “entry only (no exploration).” If we were bringing equipment, they’d check if it was our first time using public transport, but that was skipped this time. Zero wait time—we were immediately guided to the dungeon entrance.
The room with the dungeon entrance was narrow, an old-fashioned room.
Three rocks formed a distorted stone gate, and in the gap between the rocks existed a rippling Black Wall about two meters wide and tall. Same level as the dungeon at Naruse Estate.
Hearing the entry permission announcement, I reached my hand toward the wall first.
A tense moment.
My outstretched hand sank into the Black Wall as if nothing was there.
”I can enter.”
”Thank goodness~”
”Looks like the Ancient Land Deity’s influence didn’t reach here.”
I nodded back at Chifumi and Manaka, and entered the dungeon with my whole body.
Passing through the Black Wall, I was at Onigashima Dungeon’s entrance.
A small plaza surrounded by rock walls. The déjà vu came from its resemblance to Sword-Hammer Cave. No glowing moss like in Sword-Hammer Cave—visibility was secured by lit torches placed here and there on the walls.
While observing the surroundings careful not to pass the safe zone, everyone entered one after another.
”I see, so this is the Oni Cave… “
”The air’s different~ So this is what B-rank feels like~”
”If the 1st floor safe zone is like this, exploration’s gonna be pretty tough.”
Manaka, Chifumi, and Sawa gazed toward the corridor leading deeper into the cave, evaluating the dungeon’s atmosphere.
A strong presence of something with hostility.
The movement of shadows created by flickering flames added to the eeriness.
”Get why big bro had a tough time now?”
”Yeah. This is gonna be rough.”
Total agreement with Mitsuki standing next to me.
’Hmm, hmm… so this is how it is now.’
Hinoki, crawling out from the shadows, was checking the dungeon interior from atop my shoulder.
”Hinoki, do you know the old Onigashima Dungeon?”
’Nope? Don’t know. Back in my active days, a dungeon like this… might’ve existed, but I wasn’t aware of it.’
Hey now, then what did your earlier line mean? You said “now,” didn’t you?
’This Otherworld’s set to high difficulty, right? I was just comparing—wondering how it stacks up against the troublesome Otherworlds I know.’
So they were comparing it against the difficulty standards inside Hinoki.
’Yup yup. Well, I can only tell so much from here.’
Specifically?
’Let’s see… the anomalies deep inside… probably Oni, right? In terms of Oni strength, they don’t seem that strong. Compared to the Oni I know, they’re small fry.’
Hinoki is probably comparing them to famous major anomalies. Can’t argue with that.
’But the Otherworld’s own uneasiness, creepiness… doesn’t lose to the Otherworlds I know. Traps inside Otherworlds have gotten more brutal than in my era, haven’t they?’
True, it’s often said newer dungeons have more brutal gimmicks. At B-rank, instant-death traps probably appear too. Let me ask Mitsuki.
”Yeah. Big bro said he’s fine fighting Oni but struggles with traps.”
”Matches Hinoki’s assessment.”
’When they reach Oni level, they gain wisdom and try to create advantageous situations inside the Otherworld. Can’t let your guard down.’
”Well, we’re just observing today, heading back soon anyway.”
’That’s for the best.’
I felt staying longer wouldn’t gain us anything, so I checked on everyone.
Everyone was activating light sorcery to avoid being overwhelmed by the atmosphere.
Among them, Risa talking with Yurina seemed off. Looking closely, she’d switched with Asunaro.
”Asunaro, what’s up? Notice something?”
”Prince… how should I put it, I got a strange feeling.”
”Strange? Asunaro, unlike Hinoki, did you know this dungeon?”
”Within my current memories, I don’t know this Otherworld… but there might be something I’ve forgotten. Yeah… I’m fine. I’ll switch back with Risa, Prince.”
With that, Asunaro closed her eyes, and when she opened them again, she’d switched back to Risa.
”Asunaro, seems like she hasn’t recovered all her past memories yet.”
”It’s been over a thousand years. Of course.”
”It’s because of Yukizuki’s seal… sorry.”
’Not Risa’s fault. The fact that I rampaged back then is true. Rather, thanks to that, I met Risa and the Prince, and reunited with Hinoki. The gratitude goes the other way.’
”Is that so?”
But sorry, Risa apologized.
Nothing progresses if you both just keep apologizing. Let’s table it for now. I checked with everyone if we could exit the dungeon, no objections, so we withdrew.
Manaka’s companions were already ready to exit.
We lined up before the Black Wall and passed through one by one. After Miku led the way and Manaka’s six companions exited, we followed.
Exiting the dungeon, we had the staff confirm everyone was out, then left the building. Met up with Shizuku-san, boarded the bus, and the rest was sightseeing time.
The bus drove a loop around the island along the coastline. Onigashima takes about 30 minutes to circle by car. We made stops at a shop and the observatory atop the island’s highest mountain. Megumi and Miku were here for the first time, and since they’d only gone to the Archive Museum in the morning, they didn’t know the island well. Naturally I ended up guiding them, killing time until we returned to the villa in the evening.
Tonight’s dinner was a garden BBQ.
While I prepared tables and fire, I had the girls handle food prep and other preparations.
Cooking-skilled members were selected for food processing, while the rest handled baths, room cleaning, and early prep for tomorrow’s early morning departure. Even so, members with free hands did tree pruning and weeding. Continuing from last year, Yurina’s Severing Sorcery was active for pruning tall trees.
As the sun tilted and the summer sun softened, the BBQ started.
I stationed myself at the grill, sweating as I grilled meat, grilled, grilled, grilled, and served. Yeah, same as last year.
Last year I dedicated myself to grilling to avoid Manaka’s companions, but now I grill to converse. Since everyone keeps coming for meat and vegetables, this “waiting” position where they come talk to me—letting me talk evenly with everyone at regular intervals—is incredibly helpful for someone with low casual conversation skills.
As grill ingredients changed repeatedly and the sun set, Shizuku-san came to me with an extra ingredient basket.
”Minoru-san, let’s switch for a bit.”
”Right… thanks.”
I handed the tongs to Shizuku-san and went inside the villa.
After using the bathroom and trying to go back to the garden, something bonked my head.
”??”
At my feet was a familiar nut. The 3-billion-yen-for-three kind. Wasteful to leave it. I picked it up and looked around—a figure disappeared down the hallway. I chased. Found Sawa in a spot not visible from the garden.
”Figures it was Sawa.”
”Come here.”
Sawa dragged me into her room without a word—not the room she was staying in, but the room I was staying in.
”What’s up?”
”Continuation of the morning.”
By morning, she couldn’t mean…
”Swimsuit…?”
”Mhm.”
Sawa had worn the same outfit all day. Meaning since this morning, when she went fishing. I thought she couldn’t be bothered to change. Which means the swimsuit too… she might be wearing that erotic swimsuit underneath.
”No time. Showing it off, so seiza.”
I sat seiza on the floor, and Sawa stood before me, unzipping her windbreaker.
A lime-green V-string swimsuit appeared, barely containing two melons.
”Whoa♡… no! W-wait. Why so sudden—”
Second time seeing this. The attack power on male instinct is tremendous. I nearly lost to lust for a moment but rallied reason to ask calmly. Sawa glared down at me with half-lidded eyes and sighed.
”Who do you think I’m wearing this for?”
”…Me?”
Sawa didn’t answer my question, and without hesitation pulled down her pants.
As expected, a high-leg string bottom. The tiny crotch fabric dug slightly into her lower abdominal flesh, extending to her groin. The frontal fabric area was minimal. A miracle no hair was peeking out.
”As Nieda’s Strong-Females (Shoji’s group members), I’m confident handling any preference. You can look forward to it.”
”…”
”Looks like you like it.”
Confirming my speechless expression, Sawa removed her glasses and posed. Another wave of eroticism assaulted me.
”Hehehe.”
She slowly spun in place, showing her back. Wide-open back and huge ass. The string bikini hid less than half.
Sawa, having done a model-like full rotation before me, finished by blowing a kiss chu♡ and smiling, then put her glasses back on.
She hurriedly put her discarded clothes back on, leaned toward my neck—since I couldn’t stand due to my crotch situation—and blew fuuu♡ a breath against me.
”Ugh.”
”Well then. I’m heading back first.”
Sawa left the room looking satisfied. Footsteps faded down the hallway.
”Hinoki”
’What?’
”This… isn’t a dream, right?”
’It’s reality.’
”Right. Yeah, thanks.”
Not a mental attack. That Sawa was reality, not my imagination.
Damn it. That body, on hold for another half year! What a tease.
Took quite a while before I could stand. Calmed myself and left the room.
Back in the garden, Manaka said “You were late” and my heart jumped, but I covered with “stomach ache” and got away with it.
