Chapter 499 Kuroka’s Strange Behavior

They found Vali because Arthur’s ability suited the mission. Or rather, Colbrand’s ability did.
If Arthur lent Colbrand, only Aki needed to go. But adding Aki was supposed to handle Vali’s group being too weak. Instead of solving the problem, it only made it worse.
Remember, beating Great Red was always Vali’s goal. Beating this generation’s Red Dragon Emperor only became his goal after Aki defeated him. Unfortunately, as time passed, that goal seemed harder to reach.
At first, Aki needed full power to beat him. Now Vali never saw Aki go all out.
”Two hours a day…”
Aki realized something. If this wasn’t solved during spring break, before the dimensional fluctuation stopped or the barrier fell, he would spend two hours every day in this colorful void.
Sirzechs wanted to take over his private time too. No wonder they were so polite. All faction leaders came personally to ask.
Knowing this, Aki felt tricked. If this was never solved, he couldn’t even enjoy Serafall’s promised service.
Seeing Aki’s mood drop and him eyeing his family’s holy sword, Arthur quickly said, “Two hours is Colbrand’s limit. Even if someone else uses it…”
”Really? I don’t believe it!” Aki cut him off. “Let me try first. Don’t worry, if it’s really like you said, I’ll return it. Such a limited thing isn’t useful anyway.”
If true, you’d return it. Meaning if false, you wouldn’t?
Arthur’s mouth twitched. He looked at Vali for help.
He was lying. Colbrand was just a weapon. Controlling space and cutting dimensions was its nature. How far it went depended on the user. Maybe Colbrand had limits. But not two hours.
Like holy swords needing qualifications, without Pendragon blood, Colbrand couldn’t be used. But Aki…
After getting the natural holy sword user talent from Xenovia, no holy sword could refuse him. No secret. Aki’s absolute mastery was known.
Holy swords were rare. But every faction had a few. Michael even wanted to give Aki a dragon-slaying one.
Vali unusually didn’t help Arthur. Such an obvious lie, dared to use on Aki. If Aki were that stupid, Vali wouldn’t care. If this simple trick worked, with all his talent, Aki wouldn’t have grown this far.
Aki was just too lazy to think. If he could fight, he wouldn’t talk. Anyone who thought he was stupid had grass on their grave.
Seeing the blonde eyeglasses man freeze, Aki didn’t push for Colbrand. Even if Arthur gave it, he wouldn’t keep it. It wasn’t like he would spend all day in the dimensional rift. Not find Loki’s power remnant, not go home?
He just didn’t like people acting smart. Scared him a bit.
If Aki took Colbrand now, they could do nothing. Even with Vali’s Balance Breaker, the four of them weren’t his match. Best case, they would break the rift and be forced back.
”Alright. Let’s find the target,” Sun Wukong said, smiling with his staff as he mediated. “Time’s short. Find Loki’s remnant. Solve it early. Go home.”
Aki glanced at him. Ignored him.
He was in a bad mood. Didn’t want to talk to men. The only comfort was the black-haired fox beauty.
Seeing Aki approach Kuroka, ignoring them, Sun Wukong shrugged.
”Hey, Kuroka. I’m here because they annoyed me. You guys love chaos. Why’d you agree to solve this?”
Startled by the sudden voice, Kuroka jumped back. Her fur stood on end. Seeing it was Aki, she calmed down.
Aki frowned. Her reaction was too strong. Thinking back, since he captured her, she had been acting strange around him.
”Kuroka, I haven’t done anything to you, right?” Aki stepped closer. “In that fight, Wukong was there. I caught you but didn’t do anything bad.”
He looked at Wukong. Wukong nodded.
Kuroka’s recent behavior was strange. Aki noticed. As companions, they noticed too. No matter how they asked, she wouldn’t say.
At first they thought Aki did something. But Wukong could confirm he didn’t. Later, her sister released her. There was little contact between them.
Aki approached. She stepped back. She backed away. He followed. He needed to understand.
He intended to take her. She was Koneko’s sister. As brother-in-law, he should bond with her. Preferably intimately. Then Kuroka could stay with Koneko forever.
Aki chased. Kuroka fled. He chased. She fled. She couldn’t escape.
Limited barrier space. After a few rounds, she was trapped.
Blocked, her face reddened. Her snow-white skin flushed.
”Mm nya…”
After a standoff, she gave in. Let out a cute meow.
”No closer! Any closer and I’ll… I’ll…”
Seeing her closed eyes, Aki instinctively tensed. Not afraid of harm. But getting scratched by a panicked kitten.
Just as he waited for an outburst, her next words stunned everyone. Including Arthur, who was focused on controlling the entry and finding Loki’s power.
”Any closer and I’ll… I’ll go into heat nya!!!”
She opened her pretty eyes. Watery. The usually sexy beauty now looked pitiful. Aki swallowed.
Then he reacted. “H-heat?”
”Mnya…”
She turned away. Nodded slightly.
Unlike her sister Koneko, she was closer to her nekomata bloodline. She usually kept her cat ears and tail. Better bloodline activation. Stronger. But also more bestial.
That was why she liked teasing, had verbal tics, and was lazy. But going into heat like a cat was new.
From her look, it involved Aki. Unlike regular feline heat, hers was specific to one person.
Vali and the others were briefly surprised, then uninterested. Women only slowed strength growth. If Kuroka weren’t a good teammate, they wouldn’t care. Knowing the issue, they lost interest after the surprise. They were curious how it involved Aki.
Kuroka being with Aki? They didn’t mind.
Vali and his Peerage only acted together for shared goals. Not like a normal Devil Master-servant relationship. If not for Evil Pieces boosting power, no one would join. At most, Vali was the strongest. They recognized him as leader.
Watching Kuroka, full of desire yet conflicted, Aki felt playful. Instead of backing off, he pulled her into his arms.
She wanted to resist. But smelling his scent and feeling his reassuring embrace, she slowly gave in.
One hand stroked her smooth hair. The other held her slim waist. Through the thin kimono, he felt her curves.
She lay on him. Comfortable. Her eyes narrowing. Her ears twitching. Her two fluffy tails wrapped around his arm.
Warm beauty in his arms. Aki’s heart stirred. But experienced as he was, he calmed down.
Wrong time and place. Also, three men watching.
While petting the sexy catgirl, he asked, “What happened? Koneko never mentioned heat cycles.”
”Mmya~”
Fully surrendered, she rubbed his hand. “That girl’s young. She doesn’t unleash her power. So she hasn’t…”
Then she corrected herself. “She’s with you now. Won’t have this problem.”
Aki didn’t know what to say. Cats and humans develop differently. Cat yokai even more so.
Kuroka said Koneko was young. But by human age, she was a second-year high schooler. Nearly third year. Legal.
Devils, Angels, and Fallen Angels all had strange growth. Near-eternal lives. Yet like humans, they matured in over a decade. Peaked in decades.
He shook his head. Different world rules. Old world thinking was rigid.
”How’d you suddenly go into heat?” He continued. Unlike Kuroka, seemingly open but actually a virgin, he wasn’t shy.
She was embarrassed. But not a little girl. A sexy older sister.
After the shyness passed, she explained.
After fully activating her bloodline, these heats came regularly. She didn’t mind sex with someone she found worthy. So she decided to have a child. Pregnancy would stop the cycles.
After much thought, during a heat, she asked Vali for a dragon child.
Vali refused. He didn’t want to be dragged down by women. Didn’t want children.
Rejected, annoyed by the heat, and unwilling to settle, she used a spell. It solved the cycles. But it had a side effect…
Meeting a man who stirred her emotions, she would go into heat near him. Not necessarily liking. Fear or dread also worked. Basically, any man causing strong emotion.
Aki was speechless. She wasn’t in love with him. If she were, with her personality, she wouldn’t resist. She would approach to fix it.
”So last time, after I beat you, you couldn’t forget me? Scared of me?”
”Don’t know,” she replied, equally confused. “Afraid, a bit. Mostly surprised at your strength. Disbelief. But hearing about you from Koneko, seeing you triggers…”
She blushed again. Burrowed into his arms.
Though she didn’t finish, he guessed.
She was female. A cat yokai who admired strength. Defeated easily, she cared. Then Koneko beat her. Made her curious how.
Koneko, trying to bring her back, tried everything. Naturally mentioned Dual Cultivation. Beyond the power boost, the pleasure.
Over time, just seeing Aki stirred her.
Aki looked at the black-haired cat beauty. Complex feelings. Mostly happy.
He wanted her. For desire and power. To reunite the sisters.
But achieving the goal by accident felt strange. He preferred to conquer through Dual Cultivation first.
He quickly discarded this strange, almost sick thought.
She might not love him. But she didn’t hate him. More curiosity and respect. Curiosity often leads to liking.
That cheered him.
Whether they found Loki’s clone or not, he had advanced his bond with Kuroka. One more step needed.
Like helping her leave Vali’s team. Not distrust. Simple possessiveness. With her as his woman, he didn’t want her involved with them. Better she join the big house like Koneko.
But he knew Kuroka’s personality. She was unlikely to become a house cat.
He wouldn’t force point two. But point one was necessary. A work arrangement like clocking in was fine. But living with them daily? He couldn’t.
He didn’t hide this. Said it openly.
After cuddling, under his touch, she stabilized. She returned to her usual seductive smile. Leaning on him, she murmured, “Such a selfish man. So many girls, but can’t stand me near other men.”
”Right. I’m selfish,” he admitted. Long aware.
He added, “If you didn’t mind your woman near other men, something would be wrong.”
”Kekeke~”
She suddenly hid a giggle. Nuzzled him. “Didn’t expect the mighty Red Dragon Emperor to have such a cute side~”
Embarrassed, he muttered, “Stop it. You in or not?”
”Not agreeing?” she blinked, testing.
His eyes narrowed. He unconsciously released his aura. “I’ll make you.”
Startled, she then giggled again. “How scary nya~ Force me nya~?”
”Otherwise, think I’d give up?” He wasn’t shy now. He faced his desire. “If you don’t want it, fine. But if you do, you’re mine.”
Bossy. Unreasonable. But her heart raced.
Without parents, with a terrible first master, protecting Koneko, she always felt insecure. Such dominance touched a soft spot.

• Xenovia – A serious, proud former A-rank Church warrior, she is a powerful wielder of Durandal and the Destruction Holy Sword. With short blue hair, a green streak, and a strong, voluptuous build, she now serves as a High-Class Devil in Rias’s Peerage. Devoted to Aki, she is drawn to his presence, curious about intimacy, and harbors a deep desire to one day bear his children.
• Michael – A handsome, pragmatic Archangel in golden armor, he leads Heaven and the surviving Seraphs after God’s disappearance. Wielding a dragon-slaying Holy Sword, he possesses power exceeding a Super-Devil and unmatched intelligence. He maintains the System to preserve peace among the Three Factions, prioritizing order over individual lives, and modified the Holy Sword Project’s fatal rituals.
• Wukong – A short-haired youth who wields a staff and possesses a confident, relaxed, and slightly arrogant demeanor.
• Kuroka – Koneko’s older sister is a Nekoshou with a top-tier physical figure. She possesses a dark history of killing her own master, a defining aspect of her identity that deeply shapes her past and complex relationships with others.
