Volume 1 Chapter 9 Promises
Edited by: Kanaa-senpai
”Isn’t it great? A date with a cool, handsome guy. Risa-sensei, you usually have everything you want, and you don’t even have time to enjoy gifts like food from the summer and winter holidays, right? You just give them away to others!”
”No, no, no! A date is impossible. I don’t have time! Besides, he wouldn’t want to be with someone like me.”
Risa-sensei argues back without being defeated by Yuki-san’s strong opinions. She even says she doesn’t want to be with me, someone she barely knows.
Did I do something wrong? I know I caused some trouble, but I don’t remember doing anything to deserve this after just a few hours of mostly sleeping.
”So, is there anything else?”
”I told you, I don’t need any thanks!”
Listening to their argument is really stressful for me. I understand that Risa-sensei doesn’t want my gratitude. Just when I thought it was enough and wanted them to stop, the conversation took a turn.
”It seems like you won’t be satisfied unless you get a thank you. You can’t leave like this.”
”Ugh…”
”So, how about we exchange contact information?”
After a heated conversation (battle), Risa-sensei finally gave in. I watched as she picked up her smartphone from the corner of the low table, and Yuki-san nodded with satisfaction, oddly apologizing to me, saying, “Sorry for making you wait.” Then, they exchanged contact information using a smartphone app.
”…”
I can’t read the kanji of the nickname we exchanged. What does “緑青潮” (Rokushoushio) even mean?
”Did you manage to exchange it?”
”Yeah… I think so.”
Since Yuki-san asked, I showed her the smartphone screen.
”Yep, it’s properly exchanged. Risa-sensei has a rare last name, and it’s hard to call her ‘Rokushoushio-sensei,’ so everyone calls her by her first name. So please call her ‘Risa-san,’ okay?”
So her name is “Rokushoushio.” I figured out how to read her last name, but it looks like I’ll be calling her by her first name.
”Hey! Don’t just decide how to call someone else without permission!”
”Do you want to be called ‘sensei’ by your date?”
”…I don’t want that either.”
”Okay, problem solved! Next, we need to decide on a date. Risa-sensei’s next day off is…”
In a whirlwind of events, we ended up planning a date for early next week. I need to find a place to take her before then. I made this promise so easily, but… will I have enough time to gather information and do my research?
