Volume 4 Chapter 19 Too Detailed Meeting
Edited by: Kanaa-senpai
At the party, Risa-san was chatting non-stop with Mr. Dornaada, his relatives, and friends. From what I could hear, it seemed like most of the people there were in the medical field.
After finishing my setup, Arshi-san came out of my room, and a bunch of people interested in art gathered around him.
When I looked over, Elishira-san and her friends were talking. They were all curious about Japanese bento. The host, Risa-san, was making sure everyone could talk to different people.
As a student who doesn’t know much about the world, if someone asked me, “Can you do the same?” I’d say no way. I heard that Risa-san’s family does home parties like this during New Year, so I thought I should remember that.
”Risa-san, Shuu, it’s time to talk.”
Arshi-san called me. It was almost 9 o’clock. The meeting was about planning for a big shopping event at the end of the year. I locked eyes with Risa-san. She looked like she wanted to ask, “Are you ready?”
So, I nodded slightly.
(Is this… a room?)
It looked like a street from 1900s America, perfectly recreated with trick art and objects. It felt like being outside.
While I was checking out Arshi-san’s room, he told me, “I copied the American Beaux-Arts style of architecture.” But I’m not really into architecture, so I didn’t get it.
(It looks like some kind of film studio.)
There were iron benches set up like a street, and at the end, there was a life-sized figure of a famous battle anime character sitting. That must have cost a lot.
If I just casually sat next to it, I’d probably get in big trouble.
(No way… did they decorate this room just for that figure?)
I couldn’t believe it. But since Risa-san said it was an “amazing room,” there must be a good reason for it──so maybe that’s true.
In the middle of the wooden table, there was a big paper with a circle layout, and the same thing was shown on a 55-inch TV screen built into the wall.
Also, on a nearby monitor, Yuki-san, who should be in Japan, was on the screen.
”Arshi-san, is everyone in the satellite command room?”
”Yeah. Yuki-san, you can start!”
Satellite command room…? So, Yuki-san is the commander!
”Hey! Pay attention! Don’t zone out on me!”
Somehow, Yuki-san noticed I wasn’t looking at the starting point marked on the layout. The usually calm commander was really fired up from the start.
(The layout is way too complicated to understand!)
Plus, I was told to memorize the circle layout and my route in my head. There were also specific times to communicate, and the instructions were way too detailed.
It felt like a serious mission meeting, like we were going undercover.
Now I was starting to regret saying I would “help.”
