Volume 4 Chapter 18 Holiday Party

Edited by: Kanaa-senpai

Elishira-san’s house had even more Christmas decorations than the last time I visited. It really looked like a party. But it wasn’t the kind of “scary room” that Risa-san talked about.

 The decorations were pretty normal.

Risa-san and I greeted Elishira-san’s couple and gave them a gift. The party already felt lively and fun.

Elishira-san’s couple introduced us to their relatives who had gathered.

 (Where’s Arshi-san?)

On a table in the back, there were colorful jelly cups, plates of avocado and salmon, and small spinach and cheese quiches.

There was also a lot of alcohol like champagne and wine, as well as plenty of fruit juice. I thought Arshi-san was nearby, helping Elishira-san serve drinks.

 But she wasn’t there either.

”Arshi is setting up the video camera in my room.”

I heard Elishira-san say this when some people who arrived at the same time as us asked about Arshi-san.

It seems they have relatives in Japan, and when enough people gather, they project a video from a computer onto the wall to chat.

”It’s like New Year’s in Japan, right?”

 ”Yeah, maybe.”

When Risa-san said that, I just nodded, but in my house, we never have relatives over. Friends or neighbors don’t visit either, so New Year’s is always quiet for us.

After greeting our parents for New Year’s, the 3 of us would visit a shrine in the city and then eat at a restaurant in a nearby hotel. After that, it’s back to our usual lives.

(Is this how Risa-san’s New Year is?)

Even though we’re in the same Japan, it’s normal for families to celebrate differently. If I marry Risa-san, will I start to see scenes like this as “normal”?
