After defeating the Ghost Knight, things had calmed down, so I was looking for someone to increase our allies. Prince… Aoki Sousuke, seemed to have met her before and was guiding us.
I heard she uses mental-type magic. Because of that, I left Yodomizu, the class rep, Hiiragi (maid), who has the ability to be manipulated, behind to keep watch.
Honestly, I wanted Mayuki to stay back too, but that would cut our fighting power too much. Well, if it’s Mayuki, even if she gets controlled, she’d probably just act weird, so I wasn’t too worried.
”Ms. Sotozaki. Hyakudou is thinking something rude about you… is that okay?”
Even with Kashiro’s question, Mayuki didn’t flinch at all. She really is a positive thinker.
”Hey, Hyakudou. I really don’t recommend this. Ms. Sakuramiya is dangerous.”
Aoki, who was ahead of us, turned back and said that seriously.
Sakuramiya Miki, the so-called Princess of the otaku circle, isn’t exactly known for her good personality. The Eiichi that Hiiragi (maid) killed was one of her devoted followers.
”I don’t want to meet her either.”
Sakuramiya is a dangerous person who toys with innocent guys as if she’s getting closer to their otaku hobbies.
When we were getting excited talking about games, I almost lost a friend to her. She has a sly personality, saying things like, “I’m interested in horror games, but it’s scary to play alone,” trying to worm her way into the hearts of game nerds. There were rumors that she goes to the arcade with guys every day but doesn’t spend a single yen.
…Well, that’s kind of cute, I guess. She might actually be a nice person for hanging out at the arcade every day.
”Then why are you going to meet her anyway?”
”I want to gather more allies for the Dragon battle. Plus, it looks like I might have to go up against the president too.”
I got the details about taking care of Kadora from Kashiro. I’m not sure how much the president believed his testimony, but it’s clear I’ll be on their radar. Building a friendly relationship might be tough.
”Even if it comes to fighting the president, I can’t help you. I have a principle of not raising my hand against a lady.”
”What about Sakuramiya?”
”It’s a gentleman’s duty to teach a wicked woman a lesson.”
He doesn’t seem to have a good impression of the Princess.
”I hope she’s someone we can communicate with.”
Kashiro muttered quietly.
”No matter how much of a Princess she is, I don’t think she’d refuse to cooperate in this situation. She’s probably keeping men around for validation, and if she’s selfish, she should prioritize survival.”
”Is that so? There are plenty of short-sighted people out there. Those who succeed like her tend to become overconfident.”
Kashiro seems to be wary of everyone like this. It’s reassuring and likable that he stays alert.
”I’m overconfident even if I’m not successful.”
I wonder why Mayuki tries to compete unnecessarily. She should learn a bit from her failures.
”…Honestly, Ms. Sotozaki’s actions are hard to understand even with ‘Analysis Magic’.”
”She might be your nemesis, Kashiro.”
”Geniuses are often misunderstood.”
Kashiro’s struggle comes from the fact that Mayuki’s actions don’t have any logic behind them. Groundless confidence, reckless fearlessness, mysterious optimism, and bizarre ideas… even I, her childhood friend, can’t predict her.
”It’s common in battle stories, right? ‘If I can read their mind, I should be able to predict their attack patterns… What? Is this person not thinking at all!?’ That’s how Mayuki is.”
”Ms. Sotozaki, are you okay with being made fun of?”
”It’s love. It feels nice to be complimented.”
She’s such a gullible childhood friend. It’s starting to worry me.
”It should be around here. I definitely saw it nearby.”
Aoki calls out to me.
When I asked Kashiro to look for traces, we quickly pinpointed Princess’s location. I wait for Kashiro’s analysis while confirming from a distance.
”There are 2 guys near Sakuramiya. Chiyono has body enhancement magic, and Mizusaki has invisibility… it’s transparency magic.”
Transparency magic, huh. It’s a bit late to realize, but that’s not really a hero’s magic anymore.
”Sakuramiya has control magic. She can control up to 3 people. There’s a limit of once a day.”
So, she can control one more person.
”Kashiro and Mayuki, hold onto the battle axes.”
If they have battle axes with magic resistance, they should be fine. The only problem is Aoki… well, if she gets controlled, I guess Mayuki can just freeze her.
”What about Hyakudou?”
”I have a secret plan. But if I get controlled, don’t hesitate to freeze me.”
Mayuki nodded.
Once we were ready, I tried to approach Sakuramiya, but… unusually, Kashiro complained.
”…This axe is really heavy. How do you swing it around?”
It seemed tough for indoor-loving Kashiro to carry such a huge axe.
”Should we carry it together?”
”Koushi, I can’t hold it either; it’s too heavy.”
”Stop lying. You were dragging it around like it was nothing.”
As we bickered back and forth, it seemed like the princesses noticed us too.
”Hyakudou! Everyone is okay!”
Princess smiled happily and ran over.
Her uniform was a bit disheveled, with a short skirt. She had neatly cut bangs and long, wavy black hair. With her charming bright smile, it felt like she was perfectly calculated.
And suddenly, she hugged my right arm. The closeness made me think, “Maybe she likes me.”
”You’re still the same, Princess.”
”Eh? I want you to call me Sakuramiya.”
It seems like she doesn’t like being called “Princess,” and her reaction is so amusing that I keep calling her that on purpose. Apparently, she doesn’t really like the name “Beautiful Princess (Miki).” I think it suits her perfectly.
”Hey, Hyakudou… I’ve been really scared…”
The Princess looks up at me with big eyes, pressing her chest against my right arm. Her uniform is a bit messy, and I can see her cleavage, which is quite tempting.
When I touch her chest without holding back──Sakuramiya looks surprised.
”If I were to attack you right here, there wouldn’t be any cops around to help. Aren’t you getting a bit too close?”
I meant it as a threat, but Sakurami didn’t back away.
”If it’s you, Hyakudou, it’s fine. But, in return… I have a request.”
Sakurami gazes at me with her moist eyes. She’s quite the actress.
’Seraph’s blessing nullifies control.’
Just as I expected, my big sister’s protection seems to be keeping me safe.
”Looks like I’ve used up all my control magic for today.”
Sakuramiya steps away from me and gives a self-deprecating smile.
”…You approached me knowing everything, huh?”
Her voice is lower than before. This must be her true self.
”I don’t want to be enemies with you, Princess. I want to cooperate against the final boss of this island.”
”Is there any benefit for me in that?”
”You wouldn’t want to live here forever, would you?”
”Well, no. There are no cute clothes or cosmetics, it’s the worst.”
She lets out a big sigh.
It seems she’s stopped pretending, and Aoki looks shocked at how quickly she switched.
”But still. Just because of that, I absolutely refuse to fight with my life on the line. I’ll lend you one of my soldiers, so just deal with it.”
Calling the guy she’s controlling a soldier is such a typical arrogant attitude for a Princess.
”No, I want both of them. Depending on the situation, I might need a third.”
”Huh? Are you kidding? Then I won’t have anyone to protect me!”
”Don’t worry, I’ll keep the Princess in a safe place. ──Mayuki, please.”
Mayuki freezes the ground around the Princess’s feet, binding her so she can’t escape.
”Hey! What do you think you’re doing!?”
”The princess’s ability is way too dangerous. Sorry, but just stay quiet until everything is over.”
So, I managed to take care of one troublemaker. It seems like the control magic doesn’t work on me, so I’ll just tie her up and keep her locked in my room.
