Volume 1 Chapter 27
Edited by: Kanaa-senpai
In the center of the Infinite Fantastical Flower Field, there stood a beautiful white gazebo.
All alone──the gentle and kind Goddess of Order was taking some well-deserved tea break, all by herself. She looked so peaceful and happy.
”It’s quite unpredictable, isn’t it? Just as that child (Hiiragi Tsubaki) predicted, both Heroes (Eiyuu) have passed away.”
As the Goddess murmured, Seraph Isto appeared silently.
”These are the ones who passed the last Trial.”
”How many is this now? Giving Trials to the candidates chosen by Godborn and sending only those who survive as Heroes to Another World… and this is the result? It’s quite a sad story.”
The Goddess smiled with a troubled look.
Not just students, in the past, they had even gathered death row inmates who were used to killing. Although it turned into a gruesome fight, it still didn’t yield good results.
”Those skilled in killing, those with strong connections, those with battle experience. Many Heroes have been killed by Demonkind. At this rate, the God Demon War will start again.”
It was unacceptable for Demonkind to have enough power to oppose Godborn. So, they regularly sent Heroes to weaken Demonkind’s forces, but their strength still hadn’t diminished.
”The candidates chosen by Isto are doing well so far. Especially, I never thought ‘he’ would defeat 2 Demon general class enemies without any attack Magic.”
”Results are showing, but Koushi is still quite inexperienced.”
”I’m not expecting perfection from Heroes. What I hope for them is Giant Killing… the power to win against stronger foes.”
The Goddess of Order doesn’t really care much about the methods or processes. When it comes to Demon Kings, the Hero’s power is equal or even less. In Another World, you always end up fighting stronger enemies. She had more hope for the oddball who could create miracles than for the perfect straight-A student.
”Thanks to Isto’s blessing, he is surviving even in battles against people, and with his unique Magic, he has no problem with popularity. So far, he deserves a perfect score.”
He is getting through the Trials more smoothly than the candidates with attack Magic. The Goddess was a bit regretful, thinking she might have focused too much on fighting until now.
”Was my blessing unfair after all?”
When Isto asked, the Goddess smiled.
”I’m not worried about it. You can only give a blessing once, and it’s rare for a Godborn to give personal help to a human. Just getting Isto interested is part of his strength.”
The Goddess of Order was basically hands-off, but she also had some faint expectations.
(If my Seraph raises a talented Hero (Eiyuu), I can show off to the other gods. The other day, I just mocked them saying, ‘Hey, isn’t your chosen Hero too weak?’ If they can deliver results, I’ll forgive anything.)
The Goddess loved to laugh at others and make fun of them.
”Goddess, that’s why you don’t have much divine favor.”
”Hey! Don’t read my mind without permission. Plus, I’m perfect in looks, so the male gods are all over me~.”
”But the other day, you ranked number one in the ‘Goddess You Definitely Don’t Want as a Friend’ list.”
”Who made such a low-class ranking?”
”The first organizer was you, Goddess of Order.”

’Defeated a Low-Class Succubus. +100pt’
Swinging my double axes, I hunt the naughty Demonkind. I get along great with them; they’re easier to hunt than Goblins. My Battle Axe, ‘Eros Magic,’ and the big sister’s blessing all help me resist the naughty Demonkind’s charm magic.
But unlike me, the girls seemed to dislike fighting the naughty Demonkind… It’s rare, but I was exploring alone.
For me, it felt like a bonus stage, so I had no complaints.
As long as I watch out for the dark beginner magic and dark bullets that the naughty demons sometimes shoot, I can hunt them easily. In fact, being alone is more efficient.
The only trouble is the occasional appearance of other Demonkind and… the absence of Kashiro.
There are bloodstains on the ground, but without ‘Analysis Magic,’ I can’t figure out what happened. There are fallen trees and signs of battle around, so if I follow the bloodstains, I might be able to contact my classmate.
(Hmm)
After thinking about whether to go alone or return to base, I decided to move forward.
Anyway, it’s easier to fight in this area when I’m alone. If I force Kashiro to come, she risks getting hit by mental magic, so it’s not a bad decision.
(Wow, this is something)
As I followed the bloodstains, the number of Demonkind kept increasing. There were many corpses, but also many living ones.
I dodged 3 incoming dark bullets and took down the naughty demons one by one, starting with the closest. I heard a bang when they fired, and it took about a second for the bullets to hit. They travel at about 10 meters per second. That’s roughly 36 kilometers per hour; whether I can dodge them depends on the distance and situation. If I know they’re coming, I can avoid them, but if I let my guard down, I could lose my life. Even athletes have a reaction time of around 0.2 seconds, so if there are Demonkind that can shoot magic faster than that──
Just then, I remembered the big sister’s words.
’Just in case, make sure you can dodge bullets.’
When I took the big sister’s words seriously back then, I thought about it a bit.
Even slower bullets, like a Magnum, travel at about 350 meters per second. That’s 1260 kilometers per hour. At this speed, dodging seems impossible. If we assume the distance is 10 meters, you’d need to react in 0.028 seconds to avoid it. This is a skill that a regular human could never achieve.
You can’t dodge bullets. When I learned this as a kid, I thought of 2 ways to deal with it.
First, you can watch your opponent’s movements and time your dodge. By checking the movement of their finger on the trigger and their gaze, you can predict where the bullet will land. But if you’re too far away, it becomes a problem of eyesight.
The second way is simply not to get caught in the gun’s line of sight. While dodging bullets is impossible, matching the speed of a human’s hand movement is easier. Either way, you need to see your opponent.
(Well, it’s still almost impossible, though.)
Guns are powerful. That’s why, if you’re the one using it, it becomes a reliable tool.
Checking the Base system, I see they’re selling for about 5000 points. Until now, weapons like this were out of reach, but since I’ve been hunting Demonkind while doing other things, I think I can manage to get one.
(Great!)
Now that the nearby succubi are taken care of, I pause my thoughts.
I slowly follow the blood trail and find a girl.
Mizui Yuuri. She’s a girl who was seen with the Takaizumi group. She’s sitting against a tree, eyes closed, but it seems like she’s still breathing.
Her chestnut hair is long, and she has a gentle vibe. She has a calm personality, and it makes sense that she’s a healer.
After confirming there are no enemies around, I carefully give her a healing potion.
Mizui coughs lightly and wakes up.
”…Hyakudou? I should have been injured just a moment ago…”
She nervously lifts her skirt a bit to check her thigh. Thanks to the healing potion, she’s completely healed, with no injuries.
”I gave you a healing potion. By the way, I also took care of the nearby Demonkind.”
”…Thank you. I’m sorry. I can use healing magic, but I can’t use it on myself…”
So, that’s the limit. It’s tough to rely on others.
”What happened? What about Takaizumi?”
”…A woman demon with black wings showed up… and Rio was taken. While I was chasing, more demons appeared, and I lost track of everyone…”
Mizui explains the situation slowly. She probably ran into a demon general class Succubus.
This might be a chance. Takaizumi won’t go down easily, and if we work together, we might be able to take care of the Succubus.
”Shall we look for them? How are you feeling? Can you stand?”
I reach out my hand, and Mizui hesitantly grabs my hand.
”Thank you. Is Hyakudou hurt? Even a scratch, just let me know.”
She looks at me with worry.
”Do you really think I would mess up like that?”
I try to look cool with a smirk, and Mizui gives a slight smile. She seems to be calming down a bit.
”I’m relieved, you’re the usual Hyakudou. But, there are a lot of tempting demons around here, so maybe Hyakudou might… wait, that was a bit scary.”
”Don’t you come at me either, Mizui. If I make a move, Takaizumi might hold a grudge.”
”Come on, Shiroya and I are not like that anymore.”
Mizui probably has the biggest chest in class. If I got attacked by her, I wouldn’t stand a chance. Just moving a little makes it bounce too much; it’s too dangerous.
”Ah.”
As Mizui tries to walk, she trips on a small stone and leans against me. Hey, there’s a Succubus here too. And she’s completely unaware of how bad it is.
”I’m sorry? I’m not good at sports…”
She shyly pulls away. I can’t help but sigh at how I feel a bit sad about it.
”Let’s go. It’s dangerous to stay here.”
We need to find Takaizumi quickly and return.
