I was informed by Lina about life in Another World.
I thought I would be more shocked, but surprisingly, I’m doing okay.
The reason I’m not too shocked might be that over there, I had lost my parents, and I didn’t have a job, close friends, or a girlfriend.
Here, I have my girlfriend Milly, and there’s also the beautiful maid, Ms. Annabella.
If someone asked me which is better, I could confidently say Grimoire without hesitation.
After leaving the Magician Guild and returning to Milly’s mansion, the sun had already set.
The inside of the house was brightened by magic tools called ‘torch’.
Since there was still some time before dinner, I decided to have Milly give me a tour of the mansion.
She said she would first show me my room.
”This is Kent’s room.”
The room Milly showed me was located in the center of the second floor.
The room was probably about 30 tatami mats in size.
Inside, there was a king-sized bed with a canopy and a side table.
There was also a set of a sofa and a table.
Of course, the room was brightened by numerous ‘torches’.
”Wow… is this really my room?”
”I’m sorry for this room… If you don’t like it, there are other rooms, but since no one was using it, I didn’t furnish it.”
Um…
I want to show Milly my house from that world.
What does it mean to have a personal bedroom that’s 30 tatami mats wide?
”No, it’s just that the room is too magnificent, and I felt a bit overwhelmed. I really like this room.”
”You can use anything in this mansion freely. If you want something, just tell me or Ms. Annabella.”
After checking out my room, I returned to exploring the mansion.
According to Milly, the second floor mainly has bedrooms and guest rooms.
There are 2 bedrooms, mine and Milly’s, and 6 guest rooms, one of which is used by Ms. Annabella.
Next, I went down to the first floor to continue exploring.
During the day, I was shown the reception room, the adjacent living room, and the dining room for meals.
In the dining room, there was a large table that could seat more than ten people at once.
I couldn’t see the kitchen because it was Ms. Annabella’s sacred space, but I knew where it was.
I suddenly had a question and asked Milly.
”By the way, where’s the bathroom?”
”The bathroom?”
Milly tilted her head.
Is “bathroom” not understood here?
”Um, I mean the restroom.”
”Oh, the washroom. I haven’t shown you that yet.”
Milly seemed to remember and started to guide me.
Wow, a Western-style flushing toilet…
I’m glad it’s not a traditional squat toilet.
I’m not good with those.
It seems like they have a sewage system here too.
”Then, what’s left… the bathhouse, maybe?”
Bathhouse…
did I just say bathhouse? Bathhouse, bathhouse, excitement!! Oops, I got so excited I made a typo.
There’s a bath in this world…
wait, hold on, don’t get ahead of yourself…
it might be a steam bath.
”The bathhouse is this way.”
Milly waved me over.
When she opened the door, there was hot water and steam gushing out from a lion’s mouth, and a large bathtub that could fit more than ten people.
It could really be called a big bathhouse.
”The water is heated with a magic tool called ‘Heat Pump’ using tap water. So, you can use it anytime except when it’s being cleaned.”
I was so moved by Milly’s words.
I can use the bath anytime.
Hooray! Another World! It feels like I’m living in a ryokan or hotel.
For a bath-loving Japanese person, this bath is like paradise.
”Milly, this is amazing! This bath! I’m so glad I came to this world.”
”Kent… I’m glad you’re feeling better. So, let’s take a bath together after dinner.”
Huh? Together? Who’s that? …Me!!
”Huh? Oh, yes.”
I accidentally replied to Milly’s unexpected invitation.
”Sir Kent, Lady Miriallia, dinner is ready.”
While I was dazed, Ms. Annabella came to call me for dinner.
”Sir Kent, after dinner, I will wash your body.”
It seems Ms. Annabella was also listening closely to what was said earlier, and she stated it as if it were obvious.
”Eh~! I want to wash Kent too!”
”Well then, shall we serve Sir Kent together?”
The bombshell statements kept coming, and my brain felt like it was about to fry.
”How about we have dinner first… okay?”
I barely managed to say those words.
Then, I hurriedly made my way to the dining room.
When I entered the dining room, there were various dishes laid out.
All of them were Ms. Annabella’s homemade cooking.
There was a soup made with beans and rabbit meat, bread and cheese, a vegetable salad, and a whole roasted chicken.
For dessert, there were some fruits that looked like grapes.
It was a meal reminiscent of medieval Europe.
However, there was something off…
yes, there were chopsticks placed right in front of me.
Isn’t it usually a knife and fork? What’s with the chopsticks?
”Um, about these chopsticks…”
”Huh? Can’t Kent use them? Would you prefer a knife and fork?”
Milly was trying to switch out the chopsticks.
”N-no, I can use them… but why chopsticks?”
”Well, I don’t know… I’ve always eaten with chopsticks since a long time ago.”
Is the True Demon Kingdom a country with a chopstick culture? Or did the old ‘Lost One’ spread it? Wait, can you eat soup with chopsticks? Do you sip it with them?
I’m confused…
Should I scoop it with a spoon or hold the bowl and slurp it with chopsticks…
As I was worrying about this trivial matter, Ms. Annabella spoke up with concern.
”Um, is it not to your taste? If it’s not, I can make something else.”
”Oh no! It’s not that. I was just a bit confused about whether to use chopsticks or a spoon for the soup.”
Slurp.
I held the bowl and slurped the soup.
It was delicious…
the flavor of the meat had melted into the soup.
Ms. Annabella, you’re amazing.
”Wow, this is really good.”
”I’m honored. Let me serve you some of the roasted chicken as well.”
Ms. Annabella served the chicken.
The skin was perfectly crispy, and inside were finely chopped onions and potatoes.
The taste of the potatoes and onions seasoned with the chicken’s juices and spices was exquisite.
”Yeah, as expected of my master. It’s delicious as always.”
”It really is delicious.”
I devoured the meal that Ms. Annabella made with great enthusiasm.
During the meal, since Ms. Annabella was only serving, I suggested that we eat together.
However, Ms. Annabella stubbornly refused, saying that joining the meal was against the rules for a maid.
But with my and Milly’s ‘order,’ she decided to eat with us.
Eating together is fun because it makes the meal enjoyable.
Still, it’s been a while since I’ve shared a meal with someone after my parents passed away…
Having kept my social interactions to a minimum, I had forgotten how enjoyable it is to eat with someone.
Suddenly, my vision blurred.
”Hey, Kent. What’s wrong? Is there something you don’t like?”
”Sir Kent…”
I didn’t intend to cry.
But I was so happy and having such a good time that tears came to my eyes.
For the first time in a long while, I felt the warmth of human connection in this Another World, and it made me cry.
As long as I have this connection, I can live in this world.
”No, it’s just that Ms. Annabella’s cooking is so good it makes me cry.”
”Kent, you’re being dramatic.”
”Thank you for the compliment.”
Finally, we finished the meal with some fruit for dessert.
I stuffed myself with Ms. Annabella’s homemade cooking.
I might burst!
I held my slightly protruding belly.
Was I planning to take a bath after this…?
As I was thinking about that, I was suddenly hit by drowsiness from being so full.
