Chapter 318 The Distressed Knight
Edited by: Kanaa-senpai
”The opponent is a knight. Then, if it’s Lord Hiroya who has been trained by Knight Müller, there should be no problem, right?”
Having finished dinner, I asked Gieze, who was in the knight order of the city-state Gaeltheus, to train me in preparation for tomorrow’s duel… but she refused.
”With Lord Hiroya’s skills, there should be no problem, and even if I act as a virtual ‘Pressner’, it should be unsatisfactory for Lord Hiroya.”
Gieze, smiling, laid a cushion beside the reception area in the corner of the dining hall and sat in seiza, drawing the black katana ‘Kaenmaru (blazing flame)’.
(Gieze’s swordsmanship is already ‘Obu Muso Style’. It might be cruel to make her use knight-style swordsmanship at this point.)
”As for magic, I don’t really know how skilled he is… but direct attack magic is a forbidden technique, so I don’t think there’s much to worry about.”
Rena rests her chin on the table.
”Well, since he’s the one who did something terrible to Ms. Sasha, I think Hiroya should crush him with all his might, right?”
Kazumi is saying something quite ominous, but I have no intention of holding back either.
”But you know… even though he just pulled back from the fortress city and don’t know anything about Hiroya… he’s underestimating you way too much, right? By now, he must be hearing all sorts of rumors in the barracks and getting nervous, right?”
”Aight, that’s the truth.”
Simona spoke while pouring a refill into Liz’s glass after she finished her wine.
”Before dinner, I headed over to this tavern right by the barracks. Figured maybe I could catch wind of what’s buzzin’ ’bout that Pressner fella…”
Speaking of which, she weren’t there when Kazumi was scolding me about the bath incident.
”Maybe ’cause da captains don’t see eye to eye, de garrison and de returnin’ troops are also on each other’s case, n it seems like dey’re really buttin’ heads. Da garrison knows about Hiroya n dere’s a lotta good people who like you, but dat kind’a talk probly ain’t reached da returnees. So maybe dis captain is underestimation you too.”
Simona laughed and raised her glass.
”There’s a high chance that news about Hiroya hasn’t reached Pressner’s ears yet. ──It’s a chance to take advantage of.”
Liz also laughed and raised her glass.
”Either way, I’ll fight with all my might. For Ms. Sasha and Shinobu too.”
At my words, Ms. Sasha, who was enjoying wine in the reception area, smiled shyly, while Shinobu, standing behind her, bowed her head apologetically.

(Second-Class Soldier Ivan’s POV)
”Hellhounds and Greater Demons!?”
”That’s not all. ──In the newly discovered ‘Raetia Great Labyrinth’, it is said that he defeated a Minotaur.”
”Uuuuu… a Minotaur!?”
Captain Pressner stood up from his desk.
His legs were shaking violently.
(This is bad… I never expected the captain to deal with something like that…)
(What should we do? With this damn captain, there’s no way we can win.)
I whispered to Hans in a low voice.
The vice-captain of the garrison unit visited the office and conveyed a warning from their captain, Knight Garlan Roots.
”He is no longer just ‘the second son of Baron O’Brian,’ but a swordsman who has made a name for himself as ‘Hiroya of the Special Task Party’ or ‘swift.’ ──That was careless of you, Lord Pressner…”
The vice-captain of the garrison unit left the office after saying that.
”I can’t back out of the duel now… But if I lose, I’ll lose my title, and my wife and daughter will…”
Captain Pressner sat in his office chair, holding his head in his hands.
”Then, let’s make the opponent late.”
Hans spoke up.
”How do we do that…”
Pressner’s muffled voice came from where he was slumped over the desk.
”I see. Captain, there are many members of our Pressner team who don’t think highly of Hiroya due to his involvement with women. We can mobilize them…”
”Right. Let’s thoroughly obstruct him from going to the guild.”
Currently, the Pressner team, led by Garlan, is stationed in Razia Village and has been given authority to maintain order in the village.
Using that as a pretext, they plan to detain Hiroya.
It’s a dirty method typical of Hans, but if Captain Pressner wants to avoid the duel, he has no other means.
”Do you think that will work?”
”I can’t say for sure, but there are members willing to cooperate. Of course, this will be done on our own accord. The captain is not involved.”
I followed Hans’s words, bowed to Captain Pressner, and left the office.
”Ivan, let’s gather the members first. We need at least ten.”
Hans, who left the office with me, called out from behind.
”I have a hunch. There are many who have feelings for the women around Hiroya.”
Now then… about those rough fellows I have in mind, I think they would listen to us…

(Kazumi’s POV)
”I’m sorry. We just assumed among ourselves that ‘Eluda is already Hiroya’s girlfriend’…”
That night, Eluda visited my room after I had retreated to my quarters.
’I want to convey my feelings to Hiroya. This feeling is no less than Aluda’s or Meluda’s.’
She conveyed this while crying.
I was taken aback by her words.
At least in my mind, I had already recognized Eluda as Hiroya’s woman.
”I was really frustrated about what happened in the bath this evening. Even the girls who don’t have feelings for Hiro are… being seen n*ked──”
Eluda said this and drooped her shoulders.
”I don’t have a dramatic trigger like Meluda, nor did I fall in love at first sight like Aluda… But you know, Eluda is also drawn to Hiro, captivated… I love Hiro so much that I can’t help it!”
I rubbed Eluda’s back as she cried, leaning over the table.
That’s right.
Otherwise, she wouldn’t have come all the way to this rural village from the Royal Capital.
”Yeah… yeah, I knew it. Eluda also loves Hiroya as much as Aluda and Meluda do.”
As I said this, Eluda suddenly clung to me and cried out.
Eluda buried her face in my lap as I sat on the bed.
…Really, how many girls is Hiroya going to make cry?
”Tonight… I think Hiroya will invite either Aluda or Meluda. I’ll talk to the two of them, so… Eluda, you should go to Hiroya’s room.”
I somehow managed to calm Eluda down and suggested she take a bath.
Eluda stood up and nodded to Kuri.
”There’s no need for a dramatic moment to confess your feelings. There’s no timing for expressing your feelings of love, right? Eluda should say it when she wants to. If you feel like you want to say it tonight, I’ll just support you. Good luck!”
I gave Eluda a light slap on the backside as she was about to leave the room to head to the bath.
Eluda turned around in surprise, but when I smiled at her, she brightened her tear-filled eyes and nodded vigorously before leaving the room.
(Now, I need to go explain things to Aluda and Meluda in the meantime)
”Alright then.”
I stood up from the bed and headed towards the room of the 3 sisters, Aluda, Meluda, and Eluda.
