Volume 2 Chapter 26 Quest: Azrael’s Pursuer III
Edited by: Kanaa-senpai
Screams erupted from various places on the main street.
The townspeople, upon seeing a group of armed assassins, shrunk away in fear, while the assassins plunged into the crowd to escape the guards.
’Kian, what are you going to do?’
”I’m going to do this.”
In the heart of East End──before the central plaza where the crowd had gathered, Kian infused magic power into the Windsong Blade he held.
The blade’s holes summoned the winds, producing a loud, ominous sound reminiscent of a woman’s scream.
”Oh wind…!”
’Hey, what are you──’
”Tear through them!”
Kian swung his sword towards the crowd.
The wind that wrapped around the magic sword transformed into a violent storm, striking the crowd like a white shockwave.
Bystanders were hurled aside.
The crowd parted, revealing the dark backs of the fleeing assassins deep within.
”……, …t, …!”
They won’t get away.
A surge of black magic power rose from Kian’s body like flames.
The Windsong Blade roared in response to its master’s fighting spirit.
”Haaa!”
Once again, he unleashed the wind towards the crowd.
But this time the assassins are targeting the crowd in front of them.
The wind that was created becomes an impact wave again.
Some of the onlookers with weak cores lose their balance, and the people nearby rush to support them, closing the gap between the people.
”Tskkk!?”
The wall of stunned onlookers formed an impassable barrier, leaving the assassins on the ground at a standstill.
The woman, clearly their leader, waved her arm toward the insect user on the roof.
”Forget them! Go!”
”…!”
”The roof! Get to the roof, too!”
Was she using magic? Her voice was strangely distorted, warped in an unnatural way.
It was a voice that felt eerily familiar, as though he had been heard somewhere before.
Still, Kian kicked off the ground, chasing after the assassins as they tried to escape onto the roof.
He shifted his route to the side of the road, avoiding the crowd blocking the center.
Using windowsills and staircases as footholds, he tracked the figures leaping one after another onto the rooftop.
”Kyaaa”
The waitress, shoved aside by the last of the assassins to leap, turned out to be a woman Kian knew well.
”Esther!”
”Ah… K, Mr. Kian? Ah, thank you!”
”Excuse me.”
He quickly helped up the ponytailed waitress, who was holding a watering can, then slipped past her.
”Oh, it’s Kian. What’s all the commotion?”
”Moimoi. Sorry, but please get out of the way.”
”O, oh…?”
As he moved the freckled waitress aside, Kian took a running start and jumped onto the barrels lined up in front of ‘The Boar’s Trot Inn.’
The barrels were planted with flowers that Esther and the others cherished greatly.
”Ah! Wait, Mr. Kian!?”
”I’ll pay for it later.”
After leaving behind the bare minimum of words, he placed his hands on the second-floor window and used his body’s spring to leap up.
With movements far more inhuman than those of the assassins, Kian drove the Windsong Blade into the edge of the rooftop.
The blade pierced the brick wall as if slicing through hot butter.
He used the recoil to propel himself onto the rooftop.
”What a sharp edge. My strength has certainly improved as well.”
’It is a magic sword, after all. Its performance is definitely different from that of a wooden sword.’
”──Monster…!”
The man at the back of the assassins throws a black needle at Kian.
”…..”
There was no sword to deflect the strike. It remained embedded in the brick wall.
And with just having landed, there was no time to dodge.
Kian thrust his left arm forward, willing to sacrifice it, but before he could, the Windsong Blade cried out in protest. A swirling vortex of white wind enveloped him.
The enemy’s thrown weapon was intercepted mid-air by the white wind barrier, its momentum redirected in an instant, sending it flying off in a completely different direction, soaring into the sky.
”…!?”
”Oh”
(It even has the protection of arrow protection. This magic sword is amazing. It might be the second best after my p**is.)
’Your p**is is a magic sword…?’
In the ‘glasses’, the theory that the young man’s p**is was a magic sword of lust emerged, and Kian pulled out his Windsong Blade and began to give chase.
”Kukuku…”
With wide-open eyes, Kian’s face twisted in joy at the hunt, seeming to instill fear in the assassins.
The two men in the back exchanged glances and stopped their retreat.
In response to the female assassin’s shocked cry of, “What are you two doing!?” one of them shouted back:
”We’ll hold them off here—!”
It took only an instant for Kian to realize these two were highly skilled fighters.
In close-combat while wearing ‘glasses’, facing both opponents at the same time would only consume time.
However,
(Charm Eye)
Kian’s black eyes glowed ominously.
It was the eye technique of the vampire he had been training recently.
”────! ” “……?”
And at close range.
With the amplification effect of the ‘glasses’, the two men stood frozen with their weapons raised, as if their hearts had stopped.
Against Kian, who wore the ‘glasses’, they wouldn’t even stand a chance without a certain level of magic resistance ability.
Mercilessly.
Cruelly.
He would demonstrate thoroughly to the attacking assassins that they would never have the desire to oppose him again──.
If it were ordinary Kian, he might have hesitated, but with the ‘glasses’ on, he had no hesitation whatsoever in slaughtering his enemies.
”Magic sword, absorb my magic power!”
”──Gugyaaah!?”
