As the new year began, we, the another world group, moved our base from Okinawa to the AWCC headquarters in Tokyo.
Leaving my parents behind was a little sad, but staying there would only mean lazing around with Ms. Claudel and Sheena, and I’d just get more anxious.
So, I decided to treat this as work.
Indeed, compiling information about the other world here will surely be useful in the future.
With that in mind, I spend my days mainly working on the dictionary.
Sheena often has online meetings with Dr. Mathius, and Ms. Claudel continues to study our world’s technology, hoping it will be useful when she returns to her world.
Even when I’m not with them, they are allowed to go out with bodyguards, and when they feel lonely at night, they take turns visiting my room.
It seems they’re enjoying their another world life in their own way.
It’s been over 2 years since we came here and couldn’t go back.
Ms. Akari, Karin, and Puruun… I might need to prepare myself for the possibility of not seeing them again.
I think it was to cheer me up, as I was starting to feel a bit down, that Tomori, my parents, and Haruto came to visit the AWCC headquarters in the spring.
”Wow, our house. It’s become such an impressive building,” my mom exclaimed.
Not only my and Tomori’s house, but the entire surrounding area had been taken over by the U.S.
military and was officially a research facility for a pharmaceutical company, enclosed by a tall wall.
However, the gate was no longer there.
Despite this, former Lieutenant General Anderson decided to use this place as a base to continue communication with the another world world.
His belief is that Japan has the highest tolerance and sensitivity towards the another world world compared to any other country.
Indeed, I feel like the youth of Japan today wouldn’t be too surprised even if their neighbor turned out to be from another world.
”Come on, Haruto. Grab my tail if you can!”
Sheena teased Haruto in the headquarters lobby, and he eagerly chased after her tail. In the past 6 months, Sheena’s Japanese has improved significantly, but she still speaks English with Dr. Mathius… Could she be incredibly smart?
”Hey Haruto, be careful not to trip… You’re so mischievous, wonder who you take after.” Tomori chuckled.
Tomori’s group was staying at a hotel near the station, and Mr. Fishbed had made a reservation at a nearby restaurant for dinner.
”So, Yuuta. I hate to say this, but… It’s been over 2 years since you came back. What are your plans from now on?” Dad asked, sipping hot sake from a small cup.
”Plans… I’ll just keep working for AWCC until the Gate reopens…”
”No, that’s not what I mean. I’m talking about Ms. Claudel and Ms. Sheena.”
”Well… But what can I do… Even if I were to marry them, our lifespans are so different…”
”I know… But I feel so sorry for these two. They don’t have a soulmate in this world to share their lives with, and it must be lonely… So, Yuuta, do you know any guys who’d be interested in dating women from another world? Yes, an another world matchmaking! How about it?”
”Huh? Well, it’s not a bad idea… Okay, I’ll talk to Mr. Fishbed about it.”
After the dinner, we parted ways with our parents and returned to the headquarters’ accommodation.
I brought up the idea of another world matchmaking that Dad had mentioned.
”Hmm. Can we really do that? But it sounds fun!” Sheena exclaimed.
”What’s that? You’d just go and taste all the good-looking men first, wouldn’t you! Mr. Yuuta’s father is suggesting something more serious, finding a life partner to connect with on a deeper level,” Ms. Claudel explained, always the serious one.
”Oh, but if I find someone I like, I’d be happy to marry them!”
”I feel the same… It doesn’t seem like Mr. Yuuta will ever make me his official wife…”
”I understand. So, you two are open to the idea. I’ll talk to Mr. Fishbed about it when the time is right.”
”But until then, I’m Mr. Yuuta’s number one special friend, right?”
”Hey, Claudel, don’t get ahead of yourself. I’m number 2! So, Yuuta, let’s do it again tonight!!”
”Hey, Ms. Sheena! I saw that first!”
”Hey, you guys, hold on a sec. I have plans too…”
As they were making a ruckus in the lobby, they heard a voice from behind, “Mr. Yuuta!” They turned around to see Mr. Fishbed standing there.
”Oh, Mr. Fishbed. Thank you for today. That restaurant was amazing!”
”That’s great, but… actually, it’s an emergency! Wait, are you all drunk or something?”
”No, I think we’re fine. What’s the emergency?”
”Stanford has been located in Canada…”
