Chapter 102 The IOU and the O-hohohoho!! of the Cute Girl

Edited by: Kanaa-senpai

 (A Mysterious Village)

”I’ve never been to a place like this! There are hardly any big buildings around!” Alexia chirped.

”It’s a Human village, Alexia-chan,” Elmia stated simply.

”Nya-nya. This village doesn’t look as dangerous as the last one, nyaa,” Silvia added playfully.

Alexia and the others immediately looked around, scanning the surroundings. Were they really that fascinated by a backward country village? Well, Alexia comes from the esteemed Regain Royal Family, so she wouldn’t normally ever visit a place like this. Even when she was in Seyfried territory, she only went out to urban centers like Connect City. It’s no wonder she’s unfamiliar with genuine rural life.

More importantly, I did it! Alexia and Karentisia finally gave me permission to wear clothes! The time of total nakedness is over!

I’m currently draped in the nicest monster pelt I could find. We’ve come to the closest village to that vast plain where we were.

”A Human village… so this must be somewhere west of the Anclear Forest. Is that why your teleportation magic was able to fly us here so quickly yesterday?”

Karentisia-chan, the very person who stole my clothes, said something next to me. Was she talking to me?

”Um, where is the clothes shop or the equipment store? Clothes, clothes, and—mmph!”

Karentisia-chan suddenly clamped her hand over my face while I was looking around draped in the pelt. Was she going to hit me? Was this Karentisia-chan’s signature slap?

”What is it? Karentisia-chan, you’re the very person who made me naked,” I challenged, my voice muffled.

”…Are you still holding a grudge?” she snapped.

”Yes, I am. So why don’t you return my clothes that you are currently wearing?”

”Impossible. If I gave these back, I would be naked. Denied. More importantly, we’re in the village now. Let’s buy the travel necessities so Elmia and Silvia can go home.”

”…Karentisia-chan. You’re penniless, aren’t you? You’re actually a naked elf with no clothes of your own… Mmph.”

”Then you shall lend me your money. I will pay you back double when we return to the Alys Magic Academy,” she declared.

Oh? As expected of an Elf Royal. She pays back favors with double interest.

”Understood. Then, please sign this Promissory Note.”

”A Promissory Note? What is that?”

”It’s like a contract. If, for any reason, Karentisia-chan breaks this promise, the contract stipulates that you become my lewd subordinate,” I explained, internally satisfied with my leverage.

”Idiot. As if I, of all people, would fail to pay up and break my promise. Hand it over. I’ll sign it,” she insisted, utterly confident.

”As you wish! Thank you very much for the loan!”

Karentisia-chan is incredible. She didn’t even read the content written on the IOU I drafted, and she signed the contract with a magic pen. This is terrifying, truly terrifying. I laughed like a saleswoman, shouting, “O-hohohoho!!”

”There. Is this good enough, you Worthless Mutt?”

”O-hohohoho!! Thank you very much, valued customer! …Mmph,” I managed before she grabbed my face again.

”Stop with that weird laugh. We need to go to the clothes shop quickly, right? To buy your clothes.”

”…No. The conversation would be over if Karentisia-chan would just return my clothes,” I lamented.

”Never. These clothes are precious because I got them from Shin. I’m definitely not giving them back,” she pouted.

Why is this girl being so tsun-tsun? Lately, Karentisia-chan’s expressions of joy, anger, sorrow, and pleasure have become much richer. Yes! That’s a good thing, I decided.

”Shin-kun! Karentisia-chan! They say there’s a general store further inside the village! Let’s go, nano yo!” Alexia chirped, waving her hands toward us with a carefree, angelic smile. Ah, what an angel. Why is that girl the protagonist of this world? I’m so jealous and frustrated.

”Fufufu. Alexia is lovely today, too.”

”…Stupid Worthless Mutt. I’m much more lovely… really stupid,” Karentisia muttered under her breath. I thought I heard Karentisia-chan say something in a low voice, but what was it?

* * *

 (The Small General Store)

”Well, look at that! Young girls traveling all by yourselves! That must have been rough, y’know. And that cutest one right there—is that a monster pelt you’re wearing?”

…What did this shop proprietor just say while staring right at me?

”Bwahaha! Shin’s being called the cutest one here, dayo!” Elmia burst out laughing.

”Nya-hahaha. Boss Shin. So cute, nyaa! Boss Shin is the cutEST girl, nyaa!” Silvia echoed, giggling.

”…You certainly are the most adorable one, pfft,” Karentisia snickered.

”Shin-kun is the girl who’s going to be my future bride, so of course he’s cute!” Alexia declared, completely serious.

…Are the protagonist and the heroines being incredibly rude to me, too? I am a bona fide boy. I’ve got two proper testicles, too.

”Um… I am definitely a boy, sir. An elf stole my clothes, so please sell me some replacement clothes,” I insisted, completely ignoring their teasing.

”Oh, really? So you’re a boy-girl? That explains why you’re so cute! And what kind of joke is that, sweetheart?” the proprietor asked, utterly amused.

”I told you, I am a certified boy, heart and soul! Just sell me clothes that fit!”

 ”Bwahaha!” “Pfft!” “Nya-ha!

The protagonist and the heroines—they all burst out laughing, spitting out whatever they were holding when they heard me arguing with the proprietor! Honestly!

 Summary:

Shin and the heroines arrive at a quiet human village, where Shin is still clad only in a monster pelt, his clothes having been stolen by Karentisia. Shin uses this opportunity to get financial leverage over the arrogant, penniless Elf Royal by drafting a Promissory Note that makes her his lewd subordinate if she defaults. The scene culminates in Shin’s total comedic frustration when the kind-hearted shopkeeper completely misgenders him, calling him a ‘cute little girl’ and a ‘boy-girl,’ much to the amusement of Alexia and the heroines

 —

 Character Insight:

This sequence shows Karentisia’s tsundere side, where her confidence as royalty makes her sign a contract sight-unseen, but her petulance forces her to keep Shin’s clothing as a ‘precious gift.’ Shin, despite his feminine appearance, remains firm in his male identity, even in the face of constant misgendering, using his wit to gain control over the financially irresponsible heroines

 —

 Behind the Scene:

The setting is deliberately far from the main city to isolate the characters and heighten the fish-out-of-water comedy for the royal/high-status characters (Alexia, Karentisia). The ‘Promissory Note’ is a key plot device for future comedic leverage and to display Karentisia’s characteristic arrogance, ensuring her eventual submission to Shin, as detailed in the contract

 —

 T/L:

The translation aimed to capture the rapid-fire, comedic frustration of Shin (e.g., mmph and sigh), the aristocratic ‘O-hohohoho!!’ laugh of Karentisia (used here by Shin to mock her), and the rustic, familiar speech of the shopkeeper who uses Menkoi Musume (cute girl/sweetheart) to address Shin, fueling the central misgendering joke.

Notes:

• Silvia – Another one of the ‘Hidden Eroins’ from the original game, her full background is not revealed in this chapter, but she is highly protective of ‘Karen’ (Karentisia) and recognizes the Protagonist’s Sacred Artifact. She is easily angered and speaks with an intense, aggressive cat dialect.

• Uru – The wolf.
