After we said goodbye to Elmia-chan and Silvia-chan, we went back to the big prairie where Alexia had been waiting in the buff. We did this so we could start our trip to the Regain Kingdom¹.
Let me see… based on the map I got at the shop, this place is called the Leashal Grasslands². It is in the country of Anclear.
It looks like this was the border between the Regain Kingdom, the Demi-human area, and the Land of Magic. I think that place called Greenwood Village was a special village that could move through space.
In the world of Alysphia, the Anclear Forest³ is usually in the southwest of the Regain Kingdom. But these Leashal Grasslands are on the west side of the Regain Kingdom.
I wonder if that place called Greenwood was like the Peach Blossom Spring, the famous utopia from my old world?
”A utopia made by someone just so we could rest and get ready for the trip, huh? I wonder who made it?” Shin asked.
”What are you doing standing there for, Shin! A Ride Rabbit⁴ is coming right at you! Catch it!” Karentisia-chan shouted.
I heard Karentisia-chan’s loud voice. She is very full of energy again today. And wait, what is coming toward me?
”Squeak-squeak!!”
”Squeak!”
Two white pig-rabbits that looked like my big brother ran at me. These guys were for tonight’s food… no, wait. We were supposed to catch them to use as rides until we get back to the Regain Kingdom.
”A pig-rabbit this fat would be so good roasted whole! Dark Mutate Chain⁵!” Shin said.
”Squeak?!”
”Squeal?!”
They look so tasty! If I skin them right and cut up this soft meat, I can use herbs, salt, and pepper while it is still fresh…
”Squee-eee?!”
”Kyee-eee?!”
”You big dummy, Shin!! Why are you trying to cut the Ride Rabbit with the ‘Princess’s Silver Blade’⁶?! You moron!!” Karentisia-chan yelled.
”Squee-eee?! It hurts?! A-ah? Karentisia-chan?!” Shin asked.
This is bad. Very bad. I finally got a way to travel, but I almost made it into dinner.
”…Really. Your inner thoughts are coming out for everyone to hear. Were you really going to eat these poor things? I am surprised,” Karentisia-chan said.
”Well, no, but don’t you think they look good to eat? They are so round and fat. It is like they are asking me to eat them.”
”Well, I guess I can see that… maybe it is okay to kill just one of them,” Karentisia-chan replied.
”Squee-eee?!”
”Squeal?!”
Wow! Karentisia-chan is getting excited too. She is even drooling a bit.
”It is decided. This is our first work together, Karentisia-chan.”
”O-our first work together?! F-fine. Let’s do it. Let’s kill them and make them tonight’s food…” Karentisia-chan said.
Nice. Karentisia-chan is helping a lot. This is good! This way, I won’t be the only one Alexia-sama is mad at…
”Shin-kun! What are you doing nano! Why are you acting cute with Karentisia-chan while holding that silver sword together?! Oooohhh!!” Alexia-sama screamed.
I saw Alexia-sama running from far away. She had a blue vein on her head. I wonder why she is so mad? Did Karentisia-chan do something wrong again?
”Churidince?! Ugh! Are you trying to stop me again? We were in a good mood! Go away!” Karentisia-chan snapped.
”Mumu! I knew it, you were trying to be cute with Shin-kun! Karentisia-chan is a big enemy I cannot ignore nano!!” Alexia-sama yelled.
Clang!!
”Squee-eee?!”
”Squeak-squeak?!”
…And they are fighting again. The hero and the main girl are fighting. They were being nice lately, so I hoped they would stay friends and have a happy ending. Why does this happen?
”H-hey, both of you, be quiet! You are the hero and the heroine, so you should be very sweet to each other. Why do you hate each other so much? Is this a fight? Fighting is bad, you know,” Shin said.
”Shin-kun, just watch nano. I am the only one who can be right next to you! Elontisia-chan!” Alexia-sama shouted.
”That is just being selfish! Shin doesn’t belong to anyone! You dummy Churidince!!” Karentisia-chan replied.
”…It is no use. They are both in berserker mode. They cannot hear me at all.”
”Tap, tap… Shin-sama… Um, Shin-sama,” Seria-sama whispered.
”Hm? Seria-sama. What is it? Did you get hurt in their fight?” Shin asked.
”No, I am okay. Sh-Shin-sama… since those two are fighting, I… I will help you cut up the Ride Rabbit.”
Seria-sama came right up to me. She was very quiet.
”Oh? Really? Then let’s do it together, Seria-sama.”
”Y-yes. I am happy to do our first work together, Shin-sama,” Seria-sama said.
”Really? I am happy too. Thanks, Seria-sama.”
”Y-yes!”
”Squee-eee!!”
”Squee-squee!!”
This meat is very fresh. Is it crying for help? Poor thing.
Just as I held the knife with Seria-sama to start cutting the fat Ride Rabbit…
”Shin-kun. Are you trying to cheat on me nano?” Alexia-sama asked. Her voice was very cold.
”Shin! I am going to hit you very hard!” Karentisia-chan yelled.
”Alexia-sama?! Karentisia-chan?! Weren’t you two just fighting? Why are you stopping me and Seria-sama from our first work together?!” Shin asked.
”Shin-sama! Please run away! Kyaaaa!!” Seria-sama screamed.
After that, those two who were fighting got very mad at me. Was it really that bad to cut up a Ride Rabbit?

Summary:
Shin and the girls return to the grasslands to catch Ride Rabbits for their trip to the Regain Kingdom. Shin’s hunger makes him almost eat the rabbits, causing the girls to get upset. Alexia and Karentisia fight over Shin, while Seria tries to help him butcher the rabbits in secret. In the end, all the girls get angry at Shin for his dense behavior.

Character Insight:
Shin treats the world like a game and is very dense about the girls’ feelings, focusing more on food than romance. Alexia and Karentisia are rivals but quickly unite when they think Shin is ignoring them or being too close to someone else. Seria uses a quiet approach to try and get close to Shin while the others are distracted by their loud argument.

Behind the Scene:
The ‘Ride Rabbit’ is a funny fantasy monster that shows how Shin sees the world as a game. The Peach Blossom Spring is a famous old story about a hidden paradise, which shows Shin still thinks about his past life a lot.

• Silvia – Another one of the ‘Hidden Eroins’ from the original game, her full background is not revealed in this chapter, but she is highly protective of ‘Karen’ (Karentisia) and recognizes the Protagonist’s Sacred Artifact. She is easily angered and speaks with an intense, aggressive cat dialect.
