Volume 11 Chapter 15 The Potential of a Slime

Edited by: Kanaa-senpai

Synopsis of the previous events: Ren, the Saint of the Hero Party, has a good feeling with the female Knight.

The Hero Sota is feeling down as he remembers his childhood friend from his Previous Life.

Ines: Tall with big breasts. A beautiful woman with a dignified tone.

Sylvie: A tiny, erotic elf. She is soft-mannered and undaunted.

Juliet: A tsundere cat-eared Beastman. She has strong likes and dislikes.

 ===

The strongest monster in this world is the dragon, but what is the weakest monster?

In the fantasy staples I saw or read about in my Previous Life, it was usually a slime or a Goblin, though there were occasionally games with different monsters.

What is the perception of the people in this world?

”It is a slime,” Ines-san said confidently.

”It is a slime, right?” Sylvie-san chimed in.

 ”It is a slime… isn’t it?” Juliet-san muttered.

The three members of the former Gale Party answered for me: Ines-san, confident and dignified like a veteran Adventurer; Juliet-san, looking somewhat displeased with half-closed eyes; and Sylvie-san, answering cutely.

The three answered in their own unique ways, but the answer was the same.

I suppose if I asked my other Lovers, they would give the same answer.

No, look, if we evaluate it from more varied perspectives like growth potential or capability, the answer might change, right?

”Even if evaluated from every angle, it is a slime,” Ines-san repeated firmly.

”It is a slime, right?” Sylvie-san agreed.

”It is a slime, isn’t it?” Juliet-san grumbled.

 ”Right, I thought so~” I sighed.

Even though I was the one asking, it is true that slimes have weak power, no special Skills, clear weaknesses, and slow speed.

Well, they don’t have feet though.

They move by slowly crawling or boing-boing bouncing.

In old TRPGs, they were relatively strong monsters, but it is different over here, isn’t it?

”…Hey, does this have any meaning?” Juliet-san asked, looking irritated.

Ines-san frowned slightly. “Since it is Daisuke, I am sure there is a meaning, but…”

”Is it something interesting?” Sylvie-san asked with her eyes sparkling.

Ines-san with a troubled face and Juliet-san with a grumpy face do not seem that interested, but only Sylvie-san asks with her eyes sparkling.

Though it is a bit late to mention, right now I am on a date with the three of them in the forest on the outskirts of the Royal Capital.

The frequency has decreased due to the increase in lovers, but I still feel that the first three are special partners.

The three of them were looking forward to it as well, and the two besides the tsundere Juliet-san were waiting for me with a smile.

Juliet-san also said she was properly looking forward to it when I asked her on the bed, so there is no problem.

That aside, I object to the idea that a slime is the weakest.

After all, they might be able to breathe scorching flames or a brilliant blizzard, right?

If there is slime-exclusive equipment, a slight ability difference can be overturned.

”There were no slimes in the world where I used to be, but in stories (games), it was possible to strengthen them to the strongest Class,” I explained.

 ”Hmm,” Juliet-san dismissed flatly.

”A slime becoming strong…?” Sylvie-san tilted her head.

Ines-san crossed her arms. “I cannot really imagine it, but…”

”If you raise the Level, the Ability score goes up, and they will also learn Skills while fighting, right?” I pressed on.

”If that is the case, I cannot say it is impossible, I suppose?” Ines-san conceded.

”Since I can do Leveling up easily, they should be able to get strong if I make them learn Skills afterward. Hopefully,” I said.

 ”Certainly…” Sylvie-san murmured.

Juliet-san rolled her eyes. “Bruh, logically it might be so, but that’s literally unheard of.”

Just as Juliet-san says, no one actually does it.

Even Manami, the Tamer, does not seem to have tamed a slime for combat use.

There seem to have been Tamer-type Transferees in the past besides Manami, but no one has trained a slime.

As expected, the bottleneck must be the Leveling up.

Slimes have no particularly outstanding ability, and they are a complete deadweight in battle.

Allowing them to participate in Leveling up means that the experience points of the other participants (oneself or other tamed monsters) will decrease.

Even if you do all that, the return is small.

The growth rate of their Ability score is low.

For that reason, they are overwhelmingly weak within the same Level range.

Even in the natural world, while there are special slimes adapted to the environment, there are no strong slimes.

For that reason, while there is a need for them for cleaning purposes, the slime is a monster that is not evaluated for combat use at all.

I think their squishy bodies are cute, but by the standards of the people here, they are questionable even as pets.

They have no mouth and low intelligence, making it difficult to exchange words.

Without taming them, even mutual understanding is difficult.

In conclusion, there is a proper reason for their unpopularity.

But I still want to see the potential of a slime.

It would be interesting if the weakest slime could defeat the strongest dragon.

Well, even if that is a dream story, something like an Orc is realistically possible.

”I think it is difficult, but if Daisuke wants to do it, I will not stop you,” Ines-san said gently.

”I am a little interested, so I will join you♪” Sylvie-san said eagerly.

Juliet-san turned away. “Yeah, I’m not vibing with this at all.”

Ines-san is broad-minded and kind, so she cheers me on.

Sylvie-san actually looks like she wants to be actively involved, so maybe I will take advantage of her words and have her help with the experiment.

In contrast, Juliet-san turns to the side looking a bit displeased.

”What is the matter, Juliet-san? Are you hungry?” I asked.

”No, that’s not it at all,” Juliet-san snapped. “…It’s literally nothing.”

Despite saying it is nothing, she is glancing over here.

Right now, I have Ines-san and Sylvie-san linking arms on both sides of me, and Juliet-san is waiting for her turn.

I see, so that is how it is.

”I will give you a tight hug later, so fix your mood,” I promised.

”Oh♪ Then please do it for her right now♪ It is fine, right, Ines-san?” Sylvie-san suggested.

”Yeah, that is right,” Ines-san agreed.

Saying that, the two on both sides smoothly step away.

I was enjoying the overwhelming mass and the softness within the slenderness, the respective goodness of each, so it is a bit of a shame.

”No way, it’s literally their turn right now,” Juliet-san protested.

Ines-san smiled. “It is not that you do not want to do it, right?”

”I mean, yeah, but… we have to actually respect the order,” Juliet-san muttered, blushing.

”It is fine, Juliet-san♪ We are the ones wanting you to do so♪” Sylvie-san giggled.

”Rather than sticking to the turn, it is more important for Juliet-san to get along with Daisuke,” Ines-san said, nudging her.

Juliet-san sighed, her ears twitching. “…Fine. Thanks, I guess.”

They are an uneven trio, but it is certain that they care for each other.

Particularly since Juliet-san has few close friends, she strongly trusts the two of them.

Prompted by the two, Juliet-san walks over tap-tap and stands in front of me.

Without making eye contact, she spreads her arms in a posture waiting for a hug.

I draw her close and give her a light kiss.

 ”…Ngh♡” Juliet-san whimpered.

She rarely says it in words, but she actually loves hugs the most and holds on the tightest.

Her height is more than ten centimeters shorter than mine, but her breasts are large to an unbalanced degree.

When I hug her, she squishes and strongly presses those big breasts against me.

Even though it is autumn, she is still wearing hot pants that completely expose her thighs as usual, and I can fully enjoy her feminine softness.

 Mmm, pure bliss.

 ”Pervert,” Juliet-san whispered sharply.

 ”Eh!?” I gasped.

”You literally made that thing huge, didn’t you?” Juliet-san accused, looking down.

 ”I, Is that so~” I stammered.

Juliet-san’s face flushed red. “…If it’s after we get back, I’ll deal with you, so keep it in your pants for now.”

 ”Yes~” I replied submissively.

I got caught immediately when I got a little erect.

As expected of a mid-tier Adventurer, her senses are sharp.

”You are wrong. It has nothing to do with being an Adventurer,” Juliet-san huffed, crossing her arms.

”Eh, is that so?” I asked.

Ines-san laughed softly. “That is right, it is certain that Juliet-san’s senses are sharp, but it is because it is about Daisuke.”

 ”Heh~” Sylvie-san teased.

”Wait, Ines-san, you seriously don’t need to say stuff like that!” Juliet-san yelled.

”Juliet-san also loves Daisuke-san so much, after all♪ She is in a great mood the morning after sleeping together with Daisuke-san♪” Sylvie-san giggled.

”Stop it already, that’s so cringe!” Juliet-san shrieked.

Juliet-san thrashes around from being teased, but I hold her tight and do not let go.

When I take the opportunity to ask her about various things, she turns bright red and sinks.

”Ugh… you guys are dead, Ines-san, Sylvie-san…!” Juliet-san growled, hiding her face.

”I was happy to hear various things, though?” I said, smiling.

”It’s so embarrassing when you actually know about it!” Juliet-san protested.

”Juliet-san is cute (not honest), isn’t she?” I chuckled.

Juliet-san glared up at me. “…Are you thinking about something lowkey sketchy right now?”

”Just your imagination, just your imagination,” I reassured her quickly.

As expected of Juliet-san, she is also sensitive to mental states.

Let’s make sure to praise (deceive) her well.

”There, there, there,” I said, patting her head.1

”I am literally not a cat, though,” Juliet-san pouted.

”Sorry, did you dislike it?” I asked.

Juliet-san leaned into my hand. “…Be a little more gentle with it.”

”Understood. How is this?” I asked, softening my touch.

 ”…Not bad, I guess,” Juliet-san murmured.

The way of doting (the Mutsugoro style) that would make Camilla overjoyed was, unfortunately, not to Juliet-san’s liking.

It is a normal hug, but when I squeeze tightly, she returns it even more strongly.

 What a spoiled brat.

”Ufufu, it seems Juliet-san’s mood has been fixed♪” Sylvie-san remarked.

”That is right, but that hug is a turn, you know♡” Ines-san added playfully.

”I know, okay,” Juliet-san said, stepping back.

I do not give special treatment to only one person.

That is one of the few rules within myself.

Particularly these three are conscious of it even without me saying anything, and everything is a turn.

The satisfied Juliet-san smoothly steps away, and Ines-san hugs me in turn.

 ”Daisuke…♡” Ines-san whispered.

”Ines-san is cute too,” I said.

 ”Thank you♡ Ngh♡” Ines-san moaned softly.

Ines-san looks mature but is cute.

When I kiss her lightly, she presses her extra-large-sized breasts against me.

At first it was unconscious, but now it is an act precisely because she knows I will be pleased.

 ”Daisuke-san♪” Sylvie-san called out.

”Sylvie-san gets a kiss too, right,” I said.

 ”Yes♪ Rero…♡” Sylvie-san melted into the kiss.

As expected of Sylvie-san, she gives a deep kiss without caring where we are.

In contrast to Ines-san, her appearance is that of a young girl, but she is quite aggressive and does not care about public gaze.

”…Now then, now that everyone’s mood has been fixed, I think I will have you actually look at the potential of a slime,” I said, clearing my throat.

Ines-san tilted her head. “What is the potential?”

”It is faster to have you look at it,” I replied.

I will explain later, but first is the demonstration.

I detect inside the forest and walk a little to where a Goblin is.

 ”Gi!? Gyagya!”

I do not know if it is a stray individual, but the Goblin who was alone also looks over here (at Ines-san and the others) and comes running clatter-clatter.

”Slajiro, I choose you!” I shouted.

I take out the slime I had tamed and toss it.

Since it would be visually lonely with just that, I made it flash brightly for production value (Light Magic).

As it is, Slajiro bounces poyo-poyo and heads toward the Goblin.

By the way, Slajaro passed away because I messed up the setting of the home defense Magic Item.

”Slajiro, ‘Hundred Ripping Punches’ to the Goblin!” I commanded.

Ines-san gaped. “Ohh, Daisuke-san’s slime is strong!”

” ‘Hundred Ripping Punches’… I have never heard of it, but could it be a special Skill?” Sylvie-san wondered.

Juliet-san crossed her arms, deadpan. “No shot. He’s literally just messing around. What are you even doing…”

I managed to deceive Ines-san and Sylvie-san with the atmosphere, but I could not fool the calm Juliet-san.

Without minding Ines-san and the others, Slajiro, having received the instruction, extends its arm(?) and beats the Goblin relentlessly.

By the way, there is no such Skill as “Hundred Ripping Punches”.

 ”Gobo…”

While we were watching, Slajiro instantly killed the Goblin.

As expected of Slajiro, something of this level is a piece of cake.

It has no facial expression, but a somewhat proud emotion is transmitted from it.

”I see, it is true that even a slime can become strong,” Ines-san observed.

Sylvie-san smiled warmly. “Normally it should be the opposite result, but… it is worth your saying ‘I will show you the potential’.”

”Just how many Levels did you even grind it to?” Juliet-san asked.

”Umm, I think it is Level fifteen right now,” I answered.

Ines-san nodded. “It is high for a slime, but if it has that much, it can defeat something like a Goblin.”

 ”That is right,” Sylvie-san agreed.

The Ability score of a normal Goblin is around one hundred and fifty at most.

The Ability score of a Level fifteen slime is around two hundred and thirty.

The Ability score is winning, and a normal Goblin cannot use magic and has no significant Skills.

 In short, it is easy.

”By the way, how long did it take to become like this?” Sylvie-san asked.

”About ten days, I suppose,” I said.

Juliet-san’s jaw dropped. “Wait, what!? You are actually insane!”

”That is not true. It is quick if you hunt Orc Generals or Minotaurs. I can pass half the experience points,” I explained.

Ines-san gave a heavy sigh. “Daisuke-san… ordinary people cannot hunt those monsters in the first place.”

”If they are B-Rank, it is not that they cannot hunt them, but as expected, hunting alone is quite severe, so it would not go as half the experience points, right?” Sylvie-san pointed out.

Ines-san has a face saying “what a troublesome guy”, Sylvie-san gives a bitter smile, and Juliet-san is somehow displeased.

By the way, since the slime is seriously weak, I had trouble at first because it couldn’t deal damage, but I succeeded in dealing minute damage with the characteristic of digesting anything.

”If it goes at this pace, it seems a strongest slime can be made,” I said cheerfully.

 Juliet-san huffed. “Well, I guess, but… it’s lowkey unhinged.”

”Isn’t it fine, if you think of it as an increase in fun?” Ines-san chuckled.

”That is right. I would be happy if you could show it to me from time to time♪” Sylvie-san said.

”Of course. You did well, Slajiro,” I praised, petting it.

When I pet the squishly shaking Slajiro, it seems happy to be praised.

This part is no different from a normal pet.

For that reason, the “Strongest Slime Training Project” has started.

In addition, since slimes occasionally divide and multiply, I decided to give one to each of the Lovers who want one.

What was unexpected was that Diet requested one first, but is it because she is still living alone and lonely?

I hear she will be moving in shortly.

Narrator: “As expected of Daisuke-sama, to be able to strengthen even the weakest slime to this extent in a short period. It is wonderful.”

Meta Tsedes: “Did Meta-san receive a multiplied slime?”

Narrator: “Yes. It cannot be a substitute for Daisuke-sama, but because I can feel a connection.”

Meta Tsedes: “Is it something like that?”

Narrator: “It might be impossible to understand for you who do not have a lover.”

Meta Tsedes: “Can you stop dissing me normally!?”

 —

 Summary:

Daisuke ventures out on a suburban forest date with his original three companions to test the boundaries of monster growth mechanics. By applying his rapid leveling methods and exploitation of digestive chip damage, he demonstrates how an ordinary slime can comprehensively overpower standard monsters. This unconventional training display leaves his party split between enthusiastic supportive intrigue and profound exhaustion at his broken mechanics, while an unresolved thread concerning a newly distributed slime clone hints at household updates.

 —

 Trivia:

Slajaro, the first slime, met an untimely demise due to a misconfigured home defense Magic Item setting.

The natural growth rate of a slime’s Ability score is deliberately designed to be bottom-tier across identical level ranges.

Juliet maintains a consistent clothing routine consisting of short hot pants despite the transition into autumn weather conditions.

Diet lives separately on an individual basis but is scheduled to move into Daisuke’s household in the near future.

The meta-narrator values the slime clones as emotional proxies for sensing regular personal connections with Daisuke.

 Translation Notes:

1 A repetitive soothing gesture often directed towards animals, famously popularized in Japanese television by Masanori Hata (Mutsugoro), which implies a comical over-pampering style that Juliet rejects due to her beastman identity.
