Volume 1 Chapter 10 Discipline (Martina-sama’s Perspective)
Edited by: Kanaa-senpai
I showed the Heroes to the guest wing and ordered them to clean themselves up immediately. To present them to His Majesty in such a disheveled state would be the height of irreverence.
While they dressed, I finalized the selection of their “attendants.” Being a woman does not bar one from inheriting a house, nor does it diminish one’s base stats. However, for those born second or later into noble families, life is a grueling climb if they lack the talent to establish their own lineage. In that sense, securing a position as an attendant to the Hero’s party-and ideally, a marriage-is the only real chance these girls have. It is a gamble with their lives as the stake.
Of course, I have secured my own status and prestige through my own merits. I have no need for such gambles.
”Say, Martina-san, would it be possible to make you our attendant?”
”Excuse me?” I replied.
”Hey, Takumi! That’s out of line!” Shouta snapped.
This pig… Takumi, was it? I wonder what could possibly be rattling around inside that skull of his.
”As if I would ever stoop so low, you swine. I am the legitimate heir of the Gilman house, destined for the Marquisate. I am already fulfilling my duties as the next Prime Minister. Are you truly so blind that you cannot see the gap between us?”
I am not the eldest child of the Gilman house, but I seized my current position through sheer results. There is no world in which I would play servant to a pig like this.
”The hell did you say…?! I’m a Holy Knight in the Hero’s party! You calling me a pig?!”
”Takumi!” Shouta shouted, looking ready to tackle him.
The rest of the party was a mixed bag: some smirking, some staring blankly, and others casting terrified, darting glances my way.
”Takumi-dono!” Günther bellowed. “Being a Hero does not give you license to do as you please! Martina-sama is the next Prime Minister. Regardless of your titles, you are currently commoners. That was Lèse-majesté-a crime punishable by death!”
As an enraged Günther moved to draw his sword, Takumi’s vulgar smirk vanished. His entire demeanor shifted instantly.
”Whoa, take it easy! It was a joke! Just a joke, see? Hehe.”
”You bastard! You dare maintain that flippant attitude?!”
”Enough, Günther,” I intervened. “It seems he wasn’t properly disciplined in his previous life.”
”But, milady…!”
”See? Martina-san gets it! She knew I was just kidding!” Takumi chirped.
”Exactly. Which is why I shall personally provide the discipline you so clearly lack.”
”Eh?”
True, the Holy Knight is, objectively, the strongest class outside of the Hero himself. With massive VIT and MND stats and a suite of defensive skills, they are peerless tanks. They can even utilize healing and Light Magic, making them the natural enemy of the undead.
However, that assumes they have actually leveled up. Even a god-tier class is nothing more than a frail human at Level 1.
I drew the whip fastened to my thigh. Takumi’s face went pale.
”You’re kidding, right…? I said it was a joke-“
”Be grateful, Takumi. It is a rare privilege to feel the sting of my lash.”

I snapped the whip. It whistled through the air, a sharp crack echoing as the leather bit into Takumi’s flesh.
”GUAHHH! It hurts! Stop, stop it!”
”Still struggling? What a resilient pig. Very well-I’ll be sure to break you in thoroughly.”
I lashed the crouching man repeatedly. His clothes shredded, his skin split, and blood began to spray, wetting the floor. I had to carve the social hierarchy into this fool’s very soul.
Naturally, I held back. I was using a simple training whip, not a weapon meant for subjugating monsters. Had I swung in earnest, the tip would have easily broken the sound barrier. A single strike like that would have ended a Level 1 human’s life instantly.
”Stop… please, stop…!” Takumi gasped, his voice breaking. “I… I was… disrespectful… I’m… sorry…! GAH!”
Since he managed a staggered apology, I finally relented.
”…There won’t be a second time. Günther, see to his education.”
”At once, milady. Come now, Takumi-dono. Stand up.”
Günther cast a healing spell, and Takumi managed to stumble to his feet.
”And you two… Osamu and Otto, I believe. I felt some rather insolent stares from you earlier. Do you require ‘discipline’ as well?”
”N-no! I’ve seen enough! My deepest apologies, Martina-sama!”
”I… I also apologize! Please forgive us!”
”Hmph. Very well. Get yourselves ready. We cannot keep His Majesty waiting.”
”Yes, ma’am!”
That should have branded the reality of the situation into Takumi’s mind, and the minds of the rest of the party. Ten minutes later, they were reassembled and ready.
”We are heading to the audience chamber. If you act out of line again, I won’t bother with a whip. I will kill you where you stand. Remember that.”
”Yes!”
The discipline had done its work; they all nodded like obedient dogs.
* * *
I led the party into the hall and had them kneel before the throne.
”Raise your heads,” the King commanded. “I am Alois Seyfried, King of Maultasche. I take it you are the Heroes of this age?”
”Yes. We are honored by this audience, Your Majesty,” Shouta replied. “We shall begin our training under your knights immediately and ensure the Demon King is struck down.”
”Umu. I have ordered the knights to provide all necessary support. We shall accommodate you as best we can. Should you have needs, speak to Günther. That is all. You are dismissed.”
”We are grateful, Your Majesty!”
The audience ended without incident. Takumi and Osamu behaved themselves, and even Shouta-who seemed to have a troublesome amount of pride-remained quiet. Breaking them in early was indeed the correct move.

Next, I guided them to the treasury. We were not giving these items away, merely lending them, but the vault housed gear of immense power.
”You may use anything in this section. Choose what you need.”
The Heroes scattered, scanning the rows of equipment.
”I’ll take a sword, armor, and a shield,” Shouta said.
”Sword for me too, but I’ll go with light armor to keep my mobility up,” another added.
”I’m a Holy Knight, so heavy armor and a shield are… essentials… ma’am,” Takumi muttered.
”Staff and robes for me.”
”I’ll take a staff and robes as well.”
”Axe, shield, and armor for me.”
They eventually settled on their gear.
”Martina-sama, what’s in that room over there?”
”That is the Sealed Vault. It contains equipment that is far too dangerous for general use.”
”Is there nothing in there we could use?”
The Sealed Vault held weapons, relics, and cursed tools that could bring about catastrophe if mishandled. The security was, naturally, on a different level; only His Majesty, the Crown Prince, my father, and Commander Günther had access. Even I could not enter alone. However, if used correctly, they were undeniable trump cards.
”…What do you think, Günther? They can’t handle them yet, but there might be something worth considering for the Demon King campaign.”
”True enough… I cannot permit you to take them, but a look shouldn’t hurt.”
Günther unlocked the doors. I entered the Sealed Vault with the Heroes for the first time. According to Günther, these were the items within:
[Mental Slave Manufacturer (The Black Company)]
*”The ideal soldier, tailored for you.”
* A magic tool capable of brainwashing a target over time.
[The Price of Power (Jabberwock)]
*”Release the inner beast and seize strength.”
* A sinister greatsword that grants massive stat boosts but inevitably turns the user into a monster.
[The Wish-Giver]
*”Grants any wish.”
* Demands a price equal to the desire granted.
[Bind Edge]
*”Paralyze all.”
* A dagger with a potent paralysis effect. Gradually, the user’s own reason begins to paralyze as well.
[Drain Sword]
*”Vampiric strikes.”
* Siphons HP and MP from enemies, but constantly drains the user’s own HP and MP in return.
[Cursed Goblet]
*”When you curse a man, dig two graves.”
* Requires a ritual involving the target’s hair. If it fails, the curse rebounds onto the user.
[Lightbringer]
*”Brings light to the world.”
* Only usable by a Hero with a light affinity. It lacks any output control, functioning only at maximum power.
”They certainly all have… strong personalities,” I noted.
”The Wish-Giver sounds like it could be a lifesaver,” one of them suggested.
”I’ve heard the tales,” I replied. “A Hero who was once defeated by the strongest Demon King in history supposedly used it to boost his level and win the rematch.”
”That sounds perfect.”
”However, the price was his ‘future’ and his ‘lineage.’ His lifespan was drastically shortened, and he lost all reproductive ability. That Hero died without ever leaving an heir.”
”Oh… that’s… a bit much.”
As I thought, there was nothing here for them at their current levels.
”Enough of this. Go change, and then meet at the training grounds for combat drills. Günther, I leave the rest to you.”
”At once, milady.”
Shouta, the Hero, is obedient enough and boasts high stats, but his naive sense of justice is glaring. It’s useful for the war, but it will be a headache when he eventually needs to serve as a noble. Being from another world doesn’t excuse a lack of basic education, and I won’t have him stirring up the commoners with heroic ideals. A Hero’s influence is too large to be left unmanaged. We need more than a simple combat grunt.
Sword Saint Shouta has a prideful streak; I may need to discipline him properly later.
Holy Knight Takumi-I’ll watch him. If he hasn’t learned his lesson, I’ll be even harsher next time.
Saint Ren is timid, which makes him easy to manage.
Sage Osamu… he still needs breaking. I can see a scheme brewing in his eyes. He isn’t a threat yet, so I’ll allow it for the moment.
Heavy Warrior Otto acts submissive, but I can tell he’s hiding something. He’s a total muscle-head based on his stats, but if I break him in, he might have some niche utility.
Useful pigs can be trained; rebellious pigs can be broken. In that sense, that other boy-Daisuke, with the average stats-might actually be the most promising. He had that bizarre “Onanist” class and no standout skills, but with the right levels, anything is possible. If he’s a useful pig, he’ll find a way to stand out. And when he does, I’ll be there to discipline him.
A cold chuckle escaped my lips as I watched them leave.

Summary:
Martina takes charge of the Hero’s party, asserting her dominance through physical discipline when Takumi insults her. She introduces them to the King and later to the treasury, showing them forbidden artifacts in the Sealed Vault. Her inner monologue reveals her cold, calculating nature and her plan to ‘train’ the Heroes into useful tools for the state.
—
Trivia:
- Martina is Level 27, while the Heroes are only Level 1.
- Adalger, a high-ranking knight, is Level 30, showing Martina’s abnormal strength for a noble heir.
- The Sealed Vault requires four high-level keys to open: the King, Crown Prince, Prime Minister, and Knight Commander.
- Martina explicitly notes that her whip strikes could exceed the sound barrier if she didn’t hold back
—
Character Insight:
Martina displays a ‘meritocratic’ ideology, looking down on those who rely on luck or heritage without accompanying talent. Her interest in Daisuke (the protagonist) is purely utilitarian at this stage, viewing his ‘Onanist’ class as a blank slate with potential.
—
Behind the Scenes:
The author notes that Martina’s self-training is a core part of her character, suggesting she is a ‘hidden boss’ type who values hard work over the ‘Hero’ cheat system.
