Volume 1 Chapter 16 First Battle

So, I ended up using Healing Magic earlier (unintentionally, I might add), and I’ve learned that MP restores over time as a percentage of the total rather than a fixed value. Even from zero, it takes about two hours to hit a full charge. Since my max MP is currently 10, a Mini-Heal costing 4 MP takes about 48 minutes to recover.

HP is a different story. It heals at a rate comparable to real-world injuries-meaning it’s incredibly slow. You don’t just wake up at full health after a night’s sleep. Because MP recovers relatively quickly, Healing Magic is vital; I should use it proactively whenever I’m safe. Using Skills frequently is the only way to level them up quickly. (The more I grind, the stronger I get.)

It turns out Healing Magic restores health by a percentage, while potions provide a fixed amount. This makes even low-grade potions high-demand items for commoners with low HP. While spamming skills is great for leveling, MP is still finite. I have to be smart about what I use, or I’ll just be wasting effort. This world rewards the daily grind. As someone who spent my previous life playing “trash games” where stats meant nothing, this level-based RPG reality feels incredibly rewarding.

Of course, Class aptitudes create gaps that are impossible to bridge. As an Onanist¹ with straight C-rank growth, I’d never beat a combat Class of the same level unless I had god-tier gear. But no Class is perfect. Even the Hero is so specialized in combat that other Skills are a nightmare to learn, making their overall leveling difficult. Sages struggle with physical weapons, and Sword Saints can’t learn support magic to save their lives. Heavy Warriors are the worst off; they take negative modifiers to everything but physical stats. Otto probably thought anything was better than an Onanist, but I wonder if he’s reeling now that he knows how limited his own Class is. In a post-apocalyptic wasteland, he’d be king, but here? Not so much.

We arrived at the plains outside the Royal Capital to begin combat training. Today’s targets were Horn Rabbits²-tougher than Slimes, but weaker than Goblins. A perfect fit for rookies. First, the instructors gave us a demo.

 ”Hah!”

 ”Sei!”

 ”Water spirits, if you please!”

The fight was over in a heartbeat. They were so fast it wasn’t even useful as a reference. Ines-san decapitated a rabbit with one clean stroke. Juliet closed the distance instantly, slashing with her two-handed sword. Sylvie-san fired off icicles using spirit magic. Even the lowest-ranked among them was a D-rank at Level 21. Horn Rabbits were beneath them.

”Sorry, that was way too fast,” I said. “Could you slow it down a bit? I also want to see some shield work.”

Since none of the three had shields, I’d have to ask Mercedes for that.

”Are you guys really this hopeless?” Juliet asked.

”Don’t expect miracles from a Level 1,” Daisuke (I) replied.

”I guess. By the way, what are your Classes?” Ines asked.

”Magic Swordsman,” one of the guys said.

 ”I am a Blacksmith, sir!”

 ”I am a Ninja, indeed-degozaru,” said another.

 ”Fantasy Summoner, ssu!”

 ”…Onanist.”

”Onanist? I’ve never heard of that,” said Ines.

”I want to know more!” Sylvie-san added, her eyes sparkling with curiosity.

”The growth rates are all C,” I explained. “I get XP for ‘specific actions,’ I have a photographic memory, but I’m less popular with women.”

”Interesting! Getting XP outside of combat sounds great,” Sylvie-san said.

”So, what’s the ‘specific action’?” Juliet prodded.

I didn’t want to say it in front of the girls, but she wouldn’t let it go.

 ”Jacking off.”

”…I must have misheard,” Ines said, her face turning pale. “I thought you said something incredibly lewd.”

”It’s jacking off! Self-pleasure! You know, like this-“

I started mimicking the motion with my hand-squelch, squelch-until Juliet smacked me upside the head.

”Ow! You’re the one who asked!”

”Nobody told you to demonstrate, you freak!” Juliet shouted.

Ines-san turned away, blushing furiously, while Sylvie-san just looked intrigued. Their reactions were total opposites of their appearances. Honestly, I liked both.

”Maybe I went too far. Sorry,” I said.

”Sigh… is this party nothing but weirdos and creeps?” Juliet asked.

”Isn’t it sacrilegious to insult a Divine Class?” I replied.

”Being a creep isn’t a Class Effect!” Ines snapped. She was 100% right.

I watched the next demo closely, burning their forms into my mind. Ines-san’s powerful footwork (and her swaying chest). Juliet’s gliding lunges (and her bouncing chest). Sylvie-san’s magic (and her fluttering clothes).

”Are you looking at us lewdly?” Juliet asked.

 ”You’re imagining things,” I replied.

Finally, it was our turn. The five of us surrounded a single Horn Rabbit. We looked pathetic-just five former Japanese civilians with zero martial arts experience. We were shaky and our swings kept missing. Eventually, we wore it down. When it finally died, the notifications chimed.

’Required experience reached. Daisuke has reached Level 2.’

’Required experience reached. Acquired Skill: Swordsmanship.’

’Required experience reached. Acquired Skill: Shield Mastery.’

One rabbit was all it took to hit Level 2. Horn Rabbits give 5 XP. Split five ways, then multiplied by ten for my cheat, that’s 10 XP per kill.

”That was a tough one,” I said.

 ”Indeed,” the Blacksmith replied.

”Stop being idiots,” Juliet said, looking at us with utter disdain.

I was actually shaking. This was my first time trading lives, and it was nothing like a childhood scrap.

”My ‘Stealth’ was useless-degozaru,” the Ninja muttered. “It found me instantly.”

”My summon was a bust, ssu…”

”My magic did nothing,” another added.

”We’re Level 1. This is normal,” Ines said. “Don’t get discouraged.”

”She’s right. Let’s keep at it!” Sylvie-san cheered.

Ines-san had the charm of a mature woman, and Sylvie-san was the perfect maiden. Meanwhile, Kazuya’s summoned slime had been punted instantly, and Kenta’s Water Magic was basically a spitball.

”Good job on the first kill,” Ines said. “Now, time for the butchering. You have to harvest the proof-of-kill, and if you don’t bleed them right, the meat tastes like trash.”

Under their guidance, we started field dressing the rabbits.

’Required experience reached. Acquired Skill: Butchering.’

 God, I love ten-times XP.

”Rabbits aren’t worth much, but Goblins have Mana Stones. That’s your real income,” Ines explained.

 ”Oh, boy…”

Gutting a rabbit was bad enough; I wasn’t looking forward to carving up a Goblin. But I guess I’ll have to get used to the smell of blood. By the second kill, I leveled up again.

”They’re actually fast learners,” Ines noted. “Jealous, Juliet?”

”Of their stats? Maybe. Of their brains? Never.”

She’s such a brat. We finished the day with twenty rabbits.

’Required experience reached. Daisuke has reached Level 5.’

’Required experience reached. Swordsmanship Level 3.’

’Required experience reached. Shield Mastery Level 3.’

’Required experience reached. Butchering Level 2.’

 Summary:

Daisuke and his party of fellow Japanese transfers head out for their first combat training under high-ranked instructors. After an awkward explanation of his ‘Onanist’ class, Daisuke manages to reach Level 5 by hunting Horn Rabbits. The chapter highlights the efficiency of his 10x XP cheat compared to his peers.

 —

 Trivia:

 - MP recovery is percentage-based (approx. 2 hours for 100%).

 - HP recovery is realistic/slow, not game-like.

 - Healing magic is percentage-based, whereas potions are fixed-value.

 - Daisuke’s Onanist class has a 10x XP multiplier.

 - The instructors (Ines, Juliet, Sylvie) are Level 21+ and D-rank.

 - Daisuke obtained three skills this chapter: Swordsmanship, Shield Mastery, and Butchering

 —

 Character Insight:

Daisuke demonstrates a ‘min-maxer’ mindset, analyzing mechanics to optimize growth. His lack of social filter regarding his class indicates either a bold acceptance of his situation or a complete loss of shame.

 —

 Behind the Scenes:

The author notes that Daisuke’s behavior has strayed from the original ‘cool’ protagonist plan into ‘degenerate’ territory.

 —

 TL Notes:

1 Onanist: A class derived from ‘Onanism’ (m**urbation), granting unique buffs through self-pleasure.

2 Horn Rabbit: A common low-level monster in isekai tropes, usually a rabbit with a single horn.

Notes:

• Juliet – Beastman adventurer, 150 cm tall, blue bob hair, light armor, large chest, dual‑wielder with Idaten skill who wields a two‑handed sword. Short‑tempered, snarky instructor of the Twin Winds duo, bluntly insults the protagonist and snaps at Daisuke’s teasing about her age and status.

• Sylvie – Solo C‑Rank adventurer, 140 cm tall Elf with long wavy blonde hair and modest robes, small chest. A pure, lovely spirit‑magic user and instructor for Daisuke’s party; despite her youthful look she’s the group’s highest‑leveled member, radiating a terrifying aura when her age is hinted, refined yet mature.

• Ines – Leader of the Twin Winds duo, a 170 cm human with long green hair, heavy metal armor and a voluptuous build. A D‑Rank, Level 21+ magic swordsman who fuses wind magic with swordplay, she accelerates with wind, moves swiftly, and is cool‑headed yet shy and pouting when teased. Dignified instructor for the party, light‑weight drinker.

• Mercedes – Brown semi‑long hair, thick chest armor, and a self‑styled ‘pure and lovely maiden‑knight’ look define her. As a Royal Knight and Guide she mediates, teaches shield techniques, leads the party, and despises goblins and orcs. Intelligent, elite, high‑level in combat and destruction magic, she knows guild mechanics, sees dungeons as divine trials, and seeks a boyfriend.

• Kazuya – A scrawny Fantasy Summoner in the Salarymans party, rearguard, speaking in a junior‑slacker cadence. As Daisuke’s companion, he wields a unique Summoning Skill, visualizing and calling forth entities like a dancer‑like woman and a weak slime.

• Kenta – Normal‑built Magic Swordsman, fan of a famous RPG, lacks confidence to lead. Reincarnated and summoned, he serves Salarymans and Leemans parties, switching between vanguard and mid‑guard. Uses Water Magic, is a companion of Daisuke and a member of the protagonist’s party, still adjusting to the new world.
