Volume 2 Chapter 19 The Leemans’ Objectives
Edited by: Kanaa-senpai
It was the end of May, eleven months since my reincarnation. The time had come to sit down with my party members and discuss our future. In just one month, I’ll hit my one-year anniversary in this world, which is also when Makoto’s apprenticeship under Blacksmith Ralph-san¹ is set to begin.
We’re a five-man cell known as the “Leemans,” so losing even one member is a major blow. Especially since Makoto is our sole vanguard-his departure is going to leave a massive hole in our formation.
”So,” I began, “I think it’s time we talk about what happens next month. Do we keep going as a four-man squad, or do we look for a replacement…?”
”I shall be retiring-degozaru,” Takuya declared.
”Wait, what!?”
I couldn’t believe it. Takuya was the one who wanted out? He was a combat class-what the hell was he planning to do with himself? (Is he retiring to start some ‘slow life’ in the sticks? Isn’t he way too young for that?) “Wait, Takuya, isn’t it a bit early to hang up the sword?”
”It is not as you think-degozaru. I have found a master to serve and a person to protect. I shall go to them-degozaru.”
I didn’t quite follow, but maybe he found someone he liked at a new workplace? I just hoped he wasn’t being a stalker or some delusional creep. Takuya’s type is “Yandere,” which is a pretty concerning headspace to be in.
”Just checking… did the other person actually agree to this?”
”But of course-degozaru. I have been told that once I reach B-Rank, my career change will be welcomed, and a formal relationship will be permitted-degozaru.”
I see. So Takuya had been putting in the work behind my back. From the sound of it, maybe it’s a shop run by the parents of the girl he likes? I could only hope that a business welcoming a Ninja wasn’t involved in anything too shady.
”Alright. Then let’s give it our all for one more month so you can hit B-Rank.”
”You have my gratitude,” Takuya replied.
Takuya’s Stealth skills had leveled up significantly, and his critical strikes from the shadows were a cornerstone of our strategy. He was the one who reliably thinned the herd; losing him was going to make things a lot harder.
”What about you, Kazuya?”
”I’m staying in the adventurer game, but I’m gonna have to bail on the party-ssu.”
”You too?”
Kazuya only has eyes for 2D waifus, so I knew he wasn’t leaving to play house with some girl. That made his reason a complete mystery. Was he going solo? He definitely had the kind of personality that didn’t mind being alone.
”My Phantom Summoning² is almost level 7-ssu. Once that happens, my dream finally comes true. As soon as I can summon ‘Her,’ I’m hitting the road-ssu.”
”Oh right, you did mention there was someone specific you wanted to bring into this world,” I said.
Yeah, Kazuya had been talking about a certain “someone” for a long time. Thinking back, unless he had actual business elsewhere, Kazuya would head straight back to his room the second a dungeon crawl ended. He never even went out on his days off.
Apparently, he’d been chugging MP potions in his room just to grind his Summoning XP. It was all for that one goal. The sheer intensity of his obsession was the real deal. I couldn’t possibly stand in his way.
”Got it. Good luck out there,” I told him.
”Thanks-ssu. I’ll definitely give you guys a shout when I’m ready to do the summoning-ssu.”
Man, if three people leave, that only leaves two of us. Just me and Kenta-kun. I don’t have a problem with him, but a duo of guys in a world with so few men is going to stand out, isn’t it? I don’t know if this world has its share of “Fujoshi,” but I have zero intention of becoming bait for their fanfics. Then again, Kenta-kun doesn’t seem to have those vibes at all, so I’m probably just overthinking it. Best to just ask what he wants.
”Kenta-kun, what’s your plan?”
”Actually… I’ve been scouted by Alberto-san and his crew…”
As it turned out, Alberto and the others-who we’d been friendly with since the start-had invited him to join them. On top of that, he’d apparently started dating their beautiful healer, Karina.
(Damn you, you lucky, handsome normie! I’ll hex you for this!)
Well, he is a genuinely nice, good-looking guy. He can use the offensive magic their party lacks, and his swordsmanship is top-tier. Out of all of us, he was definitely the most hireable class. Plus, Karina’s composed vibe was exactly Kenta-kun’s type.
”I see. Congrats, man. When’s the wedding?”
”No! It’s not like that yet!”
I teased him a bit, and he turned beet-red with embarrassment. (Gross, stop that. I don’t swing that way. Even if I was the one who started the joke.)
”By the way, Makoto, what’s your status? You still doing your workplace observations?”
”Indeed. As per the agreement, I am not yet being taught the craft, but I continue to observe the master’s work.”
So Makoto was going exactly as planned. And there it was. Everyone except me had already figured out their next move. Wait… am I the only one getting left behind? I’m gonna be unemployed before Regina-san gets here!
Just kidding. Honestly, I can manage as a solo adventurer. If I actually stopped holding back, I could probably dive deeper than we ever have as a party. If I didn’t care about the consequences, I could make a living with my Healing Magic or even Alchemy. And if I really stopped caring, I could probably work at a host club or a brothel for women. With my technique, I’d have a line out the door in no time.
However, anything other than adventuring is high risk. No matter how I spin it, the unnatural level of my skills would eventually be exposed. My Healing Magic is higher than the Saints summoned alongside me, and my Alchemy is way beyond a standard Alchemist. I can keep a lid on the Alchemy, but the Healing…? If I saw a beautiful woman dying in front of me, I’d probably toss logic out the window and go all out. Then it’s a one-way ticket to a life on the run. No thanks. In the end, just being a moderately successful adventurer is the safest bet.
”What about you, Daisuke-san?”
”Hmm. We still have a month left. I’ll give it some thought,” I replied.
Even if I stay an adventurer, being a solo act draws eyes. And even though we’re friends, I’m not just going to jump into the Gale Party. They already feel like they owe me, and I don’t want to be in a position where they feel like they’re going deeper into debt to me every single day. That’s not the kind of relationship I want. Besides, our leveling speeds are just too far apart. Teaming up with normal adventurers is a headache. Even within our party of reincarnated people, I’m at the absolute top in terms of raw level.
Compatibility is another issue. It would be great if I could find a group as good as the one Sylvie found in the Gale Party, but I’m not holding my breath. Alberto’s crew and the Wyvern Slayers aren’t bad, but this profession is mostly populated by coarse, rough-edged guys. I doubt many of them would mesh with my personality. Coarseness is one thing, but there are plenty of people in this business whose personalities are just plain rotten. I’ve got a few ideas, but none of them are easy. What a pain. Well, I’ll figure it out eventually.

Changing gears, we started talking about tomorrow’s dive. We’re hitting the 15th floor-the first real difficulty spike. This is where a lot of adventurers hit a wall and give up. It’s the literal “Wall.” The new threats are Golems and Elements. Yes, everyone’s favorite: Mr. Golem. (Provided he’s on your side, that is.)
Golems come in all flavors, but the ones here are made of solid stone. Half-assed attacks will just bounce off or chip your blade. They soak up damage with massive VIT and MND, then punish you with high-STR physical attacks that carry the Impact attribute.
They don’t use magic, but if you’re lacking in firepower, you’ll never scratch them. It’s a nightmare for both warriors and mages. Their weakness-distinct from their Magic Stone-is the Golem Core. Destroy that, and they shut down. The problem is that the core is buried deep inside the body, ruining the resale value of the materials and making it a nightmare to target.
The only real strategy is to “try hard.” Seriously, though-for physical classes, you have to use “Mana-Shroud”³ to protect your weapons while boosting damage. Bludgeoning weapons work better than slashing ones, and since the Impact attribute bypasses their defense more easily, switching up your gear is key.
There isn’t much of a trick for mages; just avoid using Earth Magic, which they’re resistant to. Golem Cores sell for a mint, and the stone body parts fetch a decent price if you can haul them back. For a group like us with Item Boxes, these guys are a gold mine.
Elements are spirit-like monsters with elemental attributes, looking like floating orbs of light. Unlike real spirits, you can’t contract them with Spirit Magic; you’d need Taming skills for that.
Usually, Elements appear in locations matching their element-Fire in volcanoes, Water in lakes, and so on. But here on the 15th floor, all four basics show up: Fire, Water, Wind, and Earth. That means we’re effectively dealing with five different monster types at once. Elements have high INT and spam magic. Their VIT isn’t that high, but they’re tiny and hard to hit.
Their MND is decent, but they pop easily if you hit them with their opposing element. Melee classes have a terrible matchup and usually have to stay on the defensive while the mages try to snipe them or catch them in area-of-effect spells. If you kill them with physical attacks, they just shatter into nothing, but if a mage takes them down, they leave behind glowing elemental orbs that sell for a pretty penny.
So yeah, the floor is packed with tough customers, but if you can handle them, the payout is great. After that last stingy floor, I’m genuinely grateful for the loot. Also, the 15th floor features the first Floor Boss we’ve seen in a while: a buffed Iron Golem with Elemental adds. Taking it down nets you Magic Iron or Luster-steel. Once we clear this Wall of a boss and reach the next floor, our Adventurer Rank should finally hit B.
B-Rank is the mark of a true pro. The Guild doesn’t want any psychos or liabilities in the upper tiers, so the requirements get strict: reach the 16th floor, have a clean record, and pass a vibe-check interview. Since we’re about to hit B-Rank, our final goal is clear: crush this Floor Boss, reach the 16th floor, and graduate to the big leagues within the month. It won’t be a walk in the park, but let’s finish this together.

According to Mercedes, the Hero Party is scheduled to return to the capital soon. I have zero interest in seeing them, so I’m going to stay far away from the castle. Mercedes herself is as much of a “Zannen”⁴ beauty as ever-totally cute, but such a waste of a character. (Though that’s part of her charm, I guess.)
Yuko’s mental state, on the other hand, is getting seriously bad. She claimed to be depressed in her previous life, but I think this is something else entirely. She’s radiating soul-sucking vibes while she vents her frustrations, and it’s genuinely chilling. If this keeps up, she might actually spiral. We aren’t exactly best friends, but I don’t want her to die on me. Since I can’t change her job or her workplace, maybe I’ll brew up some medicine for mental ailments and pass it to her.
My dates with the Gale Party are still going strong. Fitting in two dates a week was too much for everyone’s schedule, so we’ve settled into a weekly rhythm. We’re coming up on our 20th outing. I told them it was fine if only one of them showed up, but all three of them have come every single time. I don’t think they’re forcing themselves, but I still feel a little guilty every week. When I brought it up, they just said, “Don’t worry about it. We’re the ones who wanted it this way.” They really are top-tier women.
It’s an unfair comparison, but if it were Yuko, she’d probably just say, “Yeah, you’re right,” and the dates would fizzle out. (Not that I’d ever ask Yuko on a date-that’s a nightmare scenario.) Wait… does Yuko think our monthly lunch meetings are dates? Actually, that sounds like exactly the kind of thing she’d think. Now that I’m about to hit B-Rank, I need to make sure I don’t get dragged into whatever mess she’s cooking up.

• Makoto – Leeman, once a short, chubby Earth‑summoned blacksmith (Lv20+), now slimmer with clear skin, speaks stiff samurai‑style “sogashi”. High STR/VIT, he tanks goblins, never kills humans, dreams of mastering the forge under mentor Ralph, frequents the workshop, awes at an elegant elven girl, and serves as party vanguard/tank with hammer and heavy armor. Reincarnated, he’s apprenticed to Ralph, called Makoto‑san by Milliam, an open‑lolicon who declares “cuteness is justice”.
• Ralph – A Dwarf blacksmith and Milliam’s father. He runs a workshop and values rest days. Referred to as Ralph-san.
• Takuya – Black‑garbed, masked ninja once exiled by the Hero’s party, now mid‑guard of the Salarymen and a Leemans member in Daisuke’s crew. He speaks in a faux‑samurai tone, stresses stealth and pragmatic combat, trains at level 20+, belongs to the ‘Three Idiots’ delivering vital‑point strikes on watch. Ninja class, all‑male party, yandere‑type, reincarnated and aiming to retire to serve a chosen individual.
• Kazuya – Scrawny, low‑key summoner in Daisuke’s party, rear‑guard of the Leemans and one of the “Three Idiots”. Freckles vanished after leveling; he grades his 20+ Summoning Magic in his room, picturing a dancer‑like phantom and a weak slime to aid combat. He speaks with a junior‑slacker cadence, has a 2‑D little brother, leans on summoned entities, and as a reincarnated individual obsessively summons phantoms to bring his 2‑D waifu into reality.
• Kenta – Black‑haired, handsome reincarnated mage‑swordsman with an ice‑coated blade, he’s a party member of the “Three Idiots,” serves Salarymans & Leemans, fights beside Daisuke (Lv20+), appears drained after a red‑light clash, hesitates to kill, watches the hero’s hidden strength, bonds with adventurers, and dates Karina.
• Alberto – Blue‑haired beastman, leader of adventurer party ‘Alphabet’ and former pugilist mentor to the Hero party, instructs the Working Women Party and is a married regular at the local brothel, often treating rookies to meals and entertainment. Friendly and a bit loud.

Elite courtesan, target of the protagonist’s revenge, part of Daisuke’s circle hoping she’ll retire and follow him.
• Sylvie – Elf, 140 cm tall, petite loli‑like with long wavy blonde hair and frilly robes, radiates a fairy‑like smile and playful demeanor. As the Gale Party’s highest‑leveled adventurer and Daisuke’s spirit‑magic instructor, she blends innocent charm with refined maturity. Expert in scouting and trap detection, she uses MP potions but struggles physically, tolerating adult topics more than the others.
• Mercedes – Brown semi‑long hair, white frilled one‑piece; shrewd Home Secretary of Maultasche Kingdom, mother of Patrizia, high‑ranking noble overseeing domestic affairs and security. Spirited Royal Knight who meditates, teaches shield techniques, leads parties, despises goblins/orcs, sees dungeons as divine trials, wields elite combat and destruction magic, calls herself “Elegant and Fair Knight”. Also a beautiful but disappointing castle acquaintance who feeds Daisuke Hero Party intel and desperately seeks a boyfriend among Reincarnators, often rejected.
• Yuko – Reincarnated 17‑year‑old high‑schooler, once a 40‑year‑old Earth civil servant who married, had a child and died in a train crash. Now a Level‑1 apprentice to Lady Xaveria, she wears a half‑up hairstyle, thin chest armor, stands 160 cm with a standard build, speaks politely but shows low motivation and poor etiquette.
