Volume 3 Chapter 9 Peaceful Days
Edited by: Kanaa-senpai
Dungeon exploration the following week was a real ordeal. It wasn’t that we ran into powerful enemies, or that Liese pushed herself too hard. It was simply because I was in such high spirits that I accidentally committed overkill several times. I’m usually dead serious when I’m instructing Liese, since it’s a matter of life and death, but I tend to get complacent when it’s my turn to fight. Thanks to my lack of focus, we ended up having to hunt more than usual. Fortunately, the encounter rate was higher than average, so we didn’t lose too much time.
”I’m sorry, Liese. I did it again,” I said.
”No, it isn’t a problem, Master,” Liese replied. “If we keep the meat in your Item Box¹, having extra is never a bad thing.”
Liese wasn’t even angry; if anything, she seemed happy about the growing meat supply. To make up for my blunders, I decided today would be a meat festival. My Item Box has a massive capacity, but it also features a time-stop function, meaning everything stays perfectly fresh. If I didn’t stop time, I could probably even use the space for fermentation.
Despite those few hiccups, we wrapped up our dungeon crawl for the week. On Orange Day, I headed to “Daydream” and requested Regina-san for the first time in a while. Rita and Nora are cute and certainly know what they’re doing, but they just aren’t the same as Regina-san. She provides a sense of calm and healing. Even though my current physical body is younger than hers, my mind is much older, which creates a strange dynamic.
Since it had been a while, I let Regina-san pamper me. I didn’t just receive, though; I made sure to target all of Regina-san’s favorite spots until she was a puddle of bliss. I think she was quite satisfied.
”It’s been a while, Regina-san. How was it?” I asked.
”You were so clingy and cute halfway through, but in the end, you’re the one who made me lose it… That’s our Daisuke-kun for you,” Regina-san said with a wink.
During our pillow talk, Regina-san pulled my head into her chest and held me tight. She knew I loved that position. Her sweet scent was incredibly soothing. I’m scheduled to get feedback from Clarissa-san tomorrow, so I should be able to give Regina-san the new cosmetics by next week. It might be hard to win her over with just beauty products, but I’m hoping a few thoughtful gifts stacked together will eventually do the trick.
Later that week, I had lunch with Yuko. To be honest, it’s the one thing in this world I truly dread. I have no intention of introducing Liese to her, so I let Liese spend her day off at the inn. She was probably practicing with her spear.
The medicine I’d given Yuko seemed to be working. She wasn’t nearly as emotionally volatile as she had been during our last meeting. It’s a hassle, but if I don’t provide the medicine regularly, she’ll likely revert. I’d hoped that some stability would help her at work so she could manage things on her own, but that seems unlikely. Her conversation was still nothing but a string of complaints about how “immature” or “uncivilized” this society is. There’s no point in complaining; when in Rome, do as the Romans do.
Furthermore, Yuko kept talking as if she were being “bullied” by her boss, but listening to the details, it sounded like she was just giving her standard instructions. It’s clear her spoiled “princess” attitude hasn’t faded. At this rate, she’ll likely start making unreasonable demands again. I’m not motivated enough to go out of my way for her anymore, so I’ll just leave her be. I’ll deal with it if she actually asks for something – and if it’s weird, I’ll just say no.
At the library, I continued my research into skills that might help with Liese’s titles. However, I didn’t find anything beyond what I’d uncovered the previous week. The only new information was that rare individuals possess “Skill Snatch²,” neither of which helps Liese’s situation. Apparently, those skills have no effect on class-specific skills anyway. I’d love to hand off my “Ordeal” to someone else, but the idea of someone snatching my “Private Power Generation³” skill is a nightmare. I was relieved to know that’s not possible.
Clarissa-san was looking exceptionally beautiful and seemed to be in high spirits. I finally caught her as the library was closing.
”Good evening, Clarissa-san. How did you like the things I gave you?” I asked.
”Good evening, Daisuke-san. Oh, they were wonderful!” Clarissa-san replied with a brilliant smile.
She seemed to genuinely love the cosmetics. When I asked if there were any points for improvement, she mentioned a few minor things regarding the brushes and applicators, but the products themselves were perfect. While they would satisfy any commoner in this world, I wonder how they’d fare with other transferees who might have used high-end brands in their previous lives. I suppose I won’t know until I try. I’ll make some improvements tonight and bring them tomorrow.
”Since you gave me something so lovely, I really should give you something in return,” she said. “Though I don’t have much to offer…”
”If you want to give me a reward, how about going on a date with me?” I suggested.
”Is that really all you want?” she asked. “I don’t have much money, but I can do anything else within my power.”
”No, I want a date with you, Clarissa-san. You’re the older woman I admire, after all.”
”My, thank you! Then let’s go on a date with your big sister,” she giggled. “Is next week on Yellow Day for dinner alright?”
After a year of visiting the library, I finally managed to land a date with Clarissa-san. She always felt like a flower on a high peak, but the local customs helped me out quite a bit. Even though I’d given her the cosmetics on day one, a date probably wouldn’t have happened. This was the result of slowly building up her favor. I still need one more push to make it official, but I’ll consider myself lucky if I can get that far by keeping up the gifts and the dates.
On my way to dinner, I ran into Dietlinde-san.
”Good evening, Dietlinde-san,” I said.
”Good evening, Daisuke-san,” she replied.
She looked exhausted again. Her eyes lacked their usual spark. I wondered if she’d been busy lately. (Pardon me,) I thought, casting Great Heal⁴ and Refresh⁵ on her.
”Healing magic… Thank you for doing that for someone like me,” she said, her voice trailing off.
She sounded strangely self-deprecating. Dietlinde-san is likely in her early twenties; I wonder if she’s sensitive about her age? (You’re a hardworking and lovely woman, Dietlinde-san,) I told her.
”…I see. Thank you. Excuse me, then,” she said.
It was too dim to be certain, but I thought her face turned a little red. (If I keep up the pressure, I might have a chance.) Come to think of it, I know almost nothing about her private life. She’s turned down my invitations for my day off, Yellow Day, but maybe other days would be fine? She doesn’t seem like the type to be married or seeing anyone else. I haven’t finished the improved cosmetics yet, so I’ll give them to her next time using the Reward dates strategy. I should probably talk to her more first to figure out her tastes.
Dinner that night was a date with the Gale Party. Even though Ines and I are dating, we’re both busy with dungeon crawls during the week, so we only see each other on weekends. Our rhythm hasn’t changed much.
”You’re always early,” Ines said.
”That’s not true. I just got here,” I replied.
Since we weren’t at a fancy restaurant today, the girls were dressed casually. Ines wore a collared, three-quarter sleeve shirt with a long green skirt that highlighted her fresh look. Juliet was in a simple short-sleeved shirt and a mini-skirt that showed off her legs. Sylvie also wore short sleeves, but in the form of a long dress with modest frills.
”Shall we?” I asked.
”Y-Yeah,” Ines stammered.
Ines slid up beside me and linked her arm with mine. She was trying to act cool, but her face was beet red; she was clearly using every ounce of her courage. It was adorable. The feeling of her chest pressing against my arm was absolute bliss. The pressure was intense.
”Ines-san, you’re being quite bold,” Sylvie giggled.
”I didn’t think Ines had it in her,” Juliet added.
While Sylvie seemed to be enjoying the spectacle, Juliet looked genuinely surprised. To be fair, I was a little stunned myself.
We took a table for four, and Ines made sure to sit right next to me. Usually, the seating was random, but she was clearly trying to act the part of the girlfriend. It was endearing.
”Thanks for coming today. Cheers!” I said.
”Cheers!” the girls echoed.
”I’m sorry, Ines. I haven’t been able to get you any time alone,” I apologized.
”It’s fine. The other two are important to me, so I have no reason to exclude them,” she replied.
”Really? Because I’d love some alone time with you, Ines,” I teased.
”I… I’d like that too,” she whispered.
My sudden attack sent her blushing again, and we found ourselves staring into each other’s eyes.
”…Excuse me. We are still sitting here,” Juliet interrupted.
”Hehe. You two are so close,” Sylvie remarked.
”S-Sorry!” Ines squeaked.
Juliet and Sylvie called us out for flirting right in front of them. Ines apologized, turning red for a completely different reason, but beneath the table, she reached out for my hand. It was the most affection the innocent Ines could muster. When I squeezed her hand back, she gave me a happy smile.
”I’ll plan a private date for us soon,” I promised. “Actually, since Ines and I are already dating, maybe we should just wrap up these Reward dates early.”
”That would be a problem,” Sylvie interjected. “The promise was thirty dates per person. We need to see it through to the end.”
”…It’s not like I hate being here, anyway,” Juliet muttered.
(I wondered if Juliet was finally softening up.) She looked grumpy and her tone was blunt, but her blushing face told a different story.
”I enjoy our time together, but I don’t want to hog Daisuke for myself,” Ines said firmly. “If Juliet and Sylvie want to date him too, I’d welcome it.”
”If Ines is okay with it, I’d be happy as well,” I added.
”I’ve said my piece,” Ines said, glancing at the others. “But this isn’t something Daisuke can decide on his own.”
”I…” Juliet started, then trailed off.
”Hehe~” Sylvie smiled.
Ines looked at them expectantly. Juliet turned away, refusing to meet anyone’s gaze, and Sylvie just kept her usual smile. (I couldn’t tell what Sylvie was thinking, but she had mentioned before that she was enjoying the drama.) Once the Reward dates are over, I’ll have to make a move and ask the other two out properly.

Summary:
Daisuke manages his growing harem while continuing his routine of dungeon exploration and skill research. He successfully lands a date with the librarian Clarissa and navigates a complicated dinner with the Gale Party. Tensions rise as Ines openly suggests a polygamous arrangement, forcing the other party members to confront their feelings.
—
Trivia:
- The time-stop function of the Item Box is mentioned as being useful for fermentation if deactivated, hinting at future crafting or culinary plots.
- Skill Snatch is established as a known but rare threat, though class-specific skills like ‘Private Power Generation’ are immune, setting a safety boundary for Daisuke’s core abilities.
- Dietlinde’s exhaustion and reaction to magic suggest she may be under a specific burden or curse that a simple ‘Great Heal’ only temporarily masks
—
Character Insight:
Ines makes a massive leap from shy warrior to proactive girlfriend, explicitly inviting Juliet and Sylvie into a relationship with Daisuke. This shifts the group dynamic from professional/contractual to overtly romantic. Juliet’s ‘tsundere’ exterior is beginning to crack under the pressure of Ines’s openness.
—
Lore And Worldbuilding Context:
The concept of ‘Reward dates’ (a 30-date contract) acts as a social currency and a gateway to deeper relationships. The world’s color-coded days (Orange Day, Yellow Day) govern social and professional schedules.
—
TL Notes:
The term ‘princess thinking’ is localized to ‘spoiled princess attitude’ to better reflect the Japanese ‘hime-shikou’ while maintaining the derogatory nuance Daisuke intends.
