Volume 5 Chapter 6 A Request from the Guild
Edited by: Kanaa-senpai
When I got home, Camilla was still awake. She had been in the same bed as Liese, but she jumped into my chest the moment I entered the room.
”Master!”
”Camilla? You have to sleep properly, okay?”
Since Camilla is still in her growth period, sleep is important, so I gave her a gentle warning. However, Camilla shook her head back and forth and clung to me even tighter.
”…I want to sleep with Master,” Camilla said.
She said it with a face that looked like she was about to cry, leaving me speechless. If anyone else heard those words, they might misunderstand, but I haven’t laid a hand on her. Since the reason was what it was, I couldn’t really get angry at her for staying up, which put me in a spot. (I’ll be in trouble if she doesn’t eventually learn to be on her own, but Camilla acting spoiled is so cute that I ended up doting on her.) I did something I don’t usually do-stroking her hair until it was a mess and giving her a big squeeze. She looked happy as she rubbed her face against me, finally calming down enough to sleep.
She’s such a good girl when we’re together, but she still can’t be apart for long, and sleeping alone is probably impossible for her. I have no choice but to come home as early as possible. Once she gets a bit more used to things, I think she’ll start going to sleep before me. By the way, Camilla had a momentary “Hm?” reaction when she clung to me, but she didn’t seem particularly displeased. She didn’t seem to mind the scent of Clarissa-san or Regina-san. It seems the only one Camilla truly dislikes is Gerta. Maybe the other unit members of the “Beast Fang” party too?
Liese woke up because Camilla, who had been sleeping next to her, jumped out, but when I told her, “You can just go back to sleep,” she obediently did so. Serious and hard-working Liese is a good girl, too.
Because Liese and Camilla are around, the only timing I have for Private Power Generation¹¹ is during brief gaps, like the few minutes I’m in the bathroom. Last night, too, I struggled through a session of Private Power Generation. My partner was Clarissa-san. I kneaded those large, round buttocks and fully enjoyed her soft body. Since I had just been hugged by her earlier, I could vividly recall the sensation of her soft body, her rose scent, and her beautiful yet lovely smile and gentle voice, so I made great progress. This Mental Memory²² that lets me recall these things anytime is a low-key excellent skill.

The next day, entry to the dungeon likely hadn’t been cleared yet, but I decided to go to the guild for now. There might be something I can do to help Dietlinde-san and the others.
”Good morning, Dietlinde-san,” I said.
”Good morning, Daisuke-san,” Dietlinde-san replied.
I exchanged greetings with the always-cool Dietlinde-san. I didn’t have any particular business, but by actively talking to her, we’ve gradually become closer. I want to keep this up.
”There is a request from the guild for Daisuke-san. I will explain it in a private room,” Dietlinde-san said.
”Eh?” I replied.
I came thinking there might be something, but I didn’t think there actually would be. I wonder what it is? I followed Dietlinde-san into the private room. The guild is incredibly busy with the Dungeon Upheaval³³ fuss, so Dietlinde-san looks exhausted. I’ll cast a fatigue recovery set (provisional) on her.
”…Thank you as always. That is high-level healing magic, isn’t it?” said Dietlinde.
”No. It’s no big deal. Nothing beats seeing you feel better, Dietlinde-san,” I replied.
I’ve realized recently that Dietlinde-san has very low self-esteem. She’s such a beautiful woman who handles her work seriously, so I wonder why? It doesn’t seem to be just because of her age.
”I will explain the request from the guild,” Dietlinde-san said.
”Yes, please go ahead,” I replied.
She’s a person who rarely indulges in small talk, so she gets straight to the point. I wouldn’t mind a bit more small talk, but it’s a busy time, so I can’t ask for the impossible.
”The request is a survey of the dungeon,” Dietlinde-san explained.
”A survey?” I asked.
According to what Dietlinde-san explained, they want to proceed with the investigation because they want to lift the entry ban as soon as possible. Guild staff did a simple survey of the shallow areas, but they haven’t been able to map it completely, and they haven’t even been able to enter the deep floors.
It seems guild staff mostly consist of non-combat classes and aren’t that high-level. The content of the request is to map the shallow layers and investigate the monsters appearing in the slightly deeper layers. Going up to about the fifteenth floor should be enough. If the dungeon remains blockaded, the Adventurer’s Guild won’t be able to stay in business, and it will affect the economy of the Royal Capital. They likely want to reopen as soon as possible.
”I understand that, but why the request to me? I’ve only just risen to B-Rank,” I said.
”…It is very difficult to say, but the other B-Ranks and above are not very suited for surveying,” Dietlinde-san replied.
Thomas’s harem party isn’t suited for it because the leader, Thomas, is a rough-edged muscle-brain. It seems none of the other B-Rank people are the type to silently listen to instructions, so they really aren’t suited for it. In short, it’s a process of elimination.
”What about ‘Yamato Nadeshiko’ or the parties of Alberto-san and Kenta-kun? I think they would be fine,” I suggested.
”The members of ‘Yamato Nadeshiko’ are reportedly suspending activities until things settle down after the Dungeon Upheaval. As for Alberto-san and the others in ‘Alphabet,’ everyone except Kenta-san is C-Rank. This survey is targeted at adventurers B-Rank and above,” Dietlinde-san explained.
I see, that can’t be helped then. The girls of “Yamato Nadeshiko” probably wanted to avoid the risk. I understood that there were no other suitable parties, but regardless of it being a guild request, it was still Dietlinde-san asking me. In that case, there’s no particular reason not to accept.
”Understood, I’ll take it. Dietlinde-san always takes care of me, and I promised to help as much as possible. Is it alright if I take Liese and Camilla to the shallow floors?” I asked.
”Thank you. Since Liese-san and Camilla-san are registered as porters, there is no problem,” Dietlinde-san replied.
Dietlinde-san looked a little relieved. If it weren’t for me, you might have missed it.
”From what we know, Crawlers, Goblins, and Sheep appear starting from the first floor, and it has changed into a plain field. The teleportation devices seem to be functioning. I believe you will be fine, Daisuke-san, but please be sufficiently careful,” Dietlinde-san said.
”Thank you for the information and your concern. I don’t want to die either, so I’ll be careful,” I said.
As expected, the monsters that appear seem to have changed. More than that, the structural change is incredible. (What do you mean, a plain? It ignores the laws of physics way too much. Well, even in the previous cave field, there were plenty of unnatural things.)
”Then, I’ll head into the dungeon just like this,” I said.
”Understood. Please be careful,” Dietlinde-san said.
When I looked at the guild clerk’s station on the way out, Thomas was once again gawking at Henriette. (Go to work already. No, wait, he’s currently a jobless bum who can’t go to work.)

The changes in the dungeon due to the Dungeon Upheaval are the field type, structure/terrain, placement of traps and treasure chests, and the appearing monsters.
There are probably other fine details, but those are the big ones.
The fields include the previous caves, the current plains, and things like volcanoes, canyons, and snowfields.
For now, all the known areas are plain-type, but the ones below aren’t necessarily the same.
As expected, if it’s a volcano or snowfield, I’ll have to go back once and re-prepare.
I haven’t taken any resistance skills.
For now, I’ll survey the shallow floors today and use it for Liese and Camilla’s combat training while I’m at it.
”Liese, Camilla, we’re going to the dungeon now, is that okay?” I asked.
”Yes. There is no problem,” Liese-san replied.
”Yes! I’m okay!” Camilla exclaimed.
Well, the shallow floors should be fine. Since I’m scared of accidents once we pass the tenth floor, I’ll just finish things up quickly by myself from there. The same level of accuracy as the shallow floors isn’t required anyway.
* * *
I showed the documents I received from Dietlinde-san and my guild card to the guards and guild staff guarding the dungeon entrance. The documents stated the request and that entry to the dungeon was specially permitted for the survey. By the way, the B-Rank guild card is made of Radiant Iron⁴⁴. (Considering it was wood at the start, it’s a bit sentimental.) When we entered the dungeon, it really was a plain. I could see something like a sun, and there was a wind blowing, though it wasn’t strong.
”Oh…” I muttered.
”Master?” Camilla asked.
”Is something the matter?” Liese-san asked.
”I was just bewildered because it didn’t match the common sense in my head at all. Don’t worry about it,” I replied.
”Yes!” Camilla said.
”Understood,” Liese-san said.
While I was impressed by myself, Camilla and Liese called out to me. The two of them, born and raised in this world, didn’t seem to think much of it. Even if I talked about the laws of physics, they’d just go “?”, and I can’t explain it properly anyway, so our perception of the world must just be different.
Now, it’s no use just staring blankly. The entrance is like a hole opened in a ledge on the plain. The safe zone is likely the surrounding area where no grass is growing. I have the map of the known range from Dietlinde-san. Since it’s a vast field, it seems I’ll get lost if I don’t memorize the landmarks properly. I have Mental Memory, so I’m fine, though.
”Well, shall we go? For a while, let’s have Camilla and Liese try subjugating the monsters,” I suggested.
”Yes!” Camilla said.
”Understood,” Liese-san said.
Camilla will probably run out of MP midway, but I’ll let them do it until then. The monster appearing on the first floor was said to be a Crawler. It’s probably a giant caterpillar. (Honestly, I don’t want to touch it. It’s a monster on the same level as Horn Rabbits, so weak that you can’t even get a magic stone from it. However, in this world, it’s treated as food and is apparently quite popular. I’ve never eaten it, though.)
It was originally First Floor Goblins, but the first floor became Crawlers, and Goblins started appearing on the second floor. Since it changed from a cave field to a plain field, I can’t make a simple comparison, but you could say it’s become more beginner-friendly. I wonder what the Dungeon Master is aiming for. Regardless, I just hope Crawler dishes don’t get added to the Royal Capital’s specialties. Insects are a bit much…
Since it’s the first floor, it should be fine even if I use detection-type skills. Even if we’re surrounded, we can just annihilate them. However, in a plain field, the danger level of detection skills increases. If all the monsters in the effect range become active and surround us, it seems like it would become difficult even to escape.
’Presence Detection’
When I sensed the surroundings, there were quite a few reactions. It’s considerably more than when I went rabbit hunting on the plains. Perhaps they don’t have sensing-type skills, as there was no sign of them gathering in response to my detection.
”There are plenty around here, so let’s just subjugate them as we walk along,” I said.
”Yes!” Camilla said.
”Understood,” Liese-san said.
Since it’s the first floor, it’s mapped to some extent, but what’s written on the map I received is just the entrance, the stairs, and things that serve as landmarks. Terrain and traps away from the route to the stairs are basically not written. I walked so as to fill in the blank parts. We encountered Crawlers fairly often, so Camilla would cast illusion magic, and Liese would stab them to finish them off. I don’t want to touch them, but I have to put them in the Item Box into my inventory and take them back. They are evidence and also materials to be sold. They won’t fetch much of a price, and I won’t eat them, but there are probably people who need them.
After defeating about twenty, Camilla started to stagger. She must be on the verge of using up her MP.
”Camilla, good work. Come here,” I said.
”Yess…” Camilla replied.
I carried the swaying Camilla and resumed the exploration. From here on, I’ll have Liese subjugate the monsters alone, but there’s no problem at all. Even for Liese, it’s trivial experience, but I suppose it’s better than nothing. When we walked about 1km from the entrance, there was a large ledge. The height was about 10m. It’s not that we couldn’t climb it, but this likely marks the edge of the field, so we probably couldn’t go any further even if we did climb it.
”Alright, now that we’ve come this far, let’s just walk along the ledge-or rather, the wall,” I said.
”Yess…” Camilla replied.
”Understood,” Liese-san said.
Camilla’s MP hasn’t recovered yet, so she looks a bit sleepy. There’s nothing for her to do until her MP recovers, so it’s fine for her to sleep.
”Camilla, you can sleep for a while, okay?” I asked.
”Ngh-yes, Master… Zzz… Zzz… Mumble…” Camilla murmured.
Camilla fell asleep immediately. (Well, she was up late last night.) Afterward, the two of us, Liese and I, picked up the pace and explored the first floor. Relaxing too much would go against the purpose of the survey, so I want to reach the fifth floor today.

Summary:
Daisuke returns home to find a clingy Camilla, highlighting her growing dependence and his sense of responsibility. The next day, he visits the Adventurer’s Guild and accepts a special survey request from Dietlinde to investigate the dungeon’s massive structural changes. The group enters the newly transformed ‘plain’ dungeon to begin mapping and training the girls in combat.
—
Trivia:
- The change from a cave to a plain field suggests a significant, deliberate intervention by a ‘Dungeon Master’.
- Camilla’s specific dislike for Gerta and potentially other ‘Beast Fang’ members hints at past trauma or racial friction.
- Daisuke’s ‘Mental Memory’ skill is increasingly treated as a utility for both lewd recall and navigation, suggesting its versatility.
- The mention of ‘Yamato Nadeshiko’ opting out of activities suggests a shift in political or safety sentiment among high-ranking parties
—
Character Insight:
Camilla’s attachment to Daisuke has reached a point where she cannot sleep without him, showing a transition from a rescued party member to a dependent familial/romantic role. Dietlinde’s interaction with Daisuke reveals a crack in her ‘cool’ exterior as she accepts his healing magic, showing growing trust and a subtle reliance on him for emotional/physical support during a crisis.
—
Lore And Worldbuilding Context:
Dungeon Upheaval is established as a rare event that can completely rewrite a dungeon’s ecology and physics (e.g., adding a sun/wind underground). Adventurer ranks are tied to guild card materials, with Radiant Iron representing B-Rank, signifying durability and prestige over common wood.
—
TL Notes:
The term ‘Private Power Generation’ (kojinhatsuden) is a specific internet-slang euphemism in Japanese for m**urbation, localized here to maintain the protagonist’s specific ‘game-like’ internal terminology.
