Volume 8 Chapter 11 A Full-Day Date

Edited by: Kanaa-senpai

The day after I felt practically no boost from Ilse’s level-up, I had my full-day date with Sylvie.

She wasn’t exactly in a rush, but I figured it wasn’t a good look to leave her hanging for too long, so I’d set it up early.

I said my goodbyes to my other lovers with a hug and a quick peck.

For Liese and Ilse, it was just a pat on the head before I headed out.

Ever since we made things official, Camilla has been much more grounded; she can handle being away from me for a day now without losing it.

I arranged for Liese and the other two to handle some exploration on the third floor, similar to their usual designated requests¹.

Ines and the rest are sticking to the eleventh floor as per usual.

I just hope they keep it ‘safety first.’

”Well then, shall we get going? ♪” said Sylvie.

”Sounds like a plan,” I replied.

Sylvie was in a fantastic mood, beaming as she hooked her arm through mine and we started walking.

It looks like she isn’t expecting a Princess Carry this morning.

(That always gets me a bit too worked up, so it’s probably for the best… though a small part of me is disappointed.)

Today, Sylvie is in her usual style: a lovely ruffled dress in a soft pastel.

She’s wearing high-heeled sandals—mules, I think? They really pull the whole ‘cute’ look together.

I could swear she’s pressing her chest—small, but definitely there—against my arm.

Is she doing that on purpose? No way, right?

”You still like them even if they’re small, don’t you, Daisuke-san?” Sylvie asked.

 ”Gah! I mean… yeah, you’re not wrong…” I muttered.

She was definitely doing it on purpose.

 Well, that’s Sylvie for you.

I guess I’ll just have to deal with it.

”Ufufu! ♡ It makes me so happy to know my chest pleases you! ♪” Sylvie chirped.

 ”Ahaha… God, that’s embarrassing,” I said.

I love how assertive she’s being, but I really wish she wouldn’t broadcast my kinks in the middle of the street.

* * *

 We spent the morning shopping.

I’ve been on plenty of shopping trips with the Gale Party before, but today, I was determined to buy her a gift.

”This looks incredibly expensive… are you sure it’s okay?” Sylvie asked.

”Not a problem at all. Pick out whatever you want, don’t hold back,” I said.

”Okay! ♪ Thank you so much!” Sylvie replied.

Sylvie has a weakness for one-piece dresses with plenty of ruffles.

She branches out occasionally, but the ‘Ruffled Princess’ look fits her transcendently beautiful vibe perfectly.

Being the social butterfly she is, she had a blast chatting up the shop staff while she browsed.

”Daisuke-san, which one do you think is better? This one, or this one?” Sylvie asked.

 ”Hmm, that’s a tough one. It’s a toss-up,” I replied.

One was a simple, clean pale green that felt very fresh.

The other was more of a Goth-Loli style with heavy ruffles.

For everyday wear, the green one was the practical choice, but Sylvie could pull off the frilly one without breaking a sweat.

 It was an agonizing choice…

but wait, why do I even have to choose?

”Alright, let’s just get both,” I declared.

”Eh? No, I couldn’t! That wouldn’t be right,” Sylvie said.

”Nonsense. They both look amazing on you. It’d be a crime not to buy them. Please, let me give you these two. Anything to highlight how cute you are,” I said.

 ”Oh, Daisuke-san! ♡ You’re too much! ♪ Mwah! ♡” Sylvie squealed.

If a little extra spending makes her that happy, there’s no reason to say no.

The clerk just watched us with a warm smile as Sylvie planted a kiss on my cheek.

For lunch, we hit up Manami’s Cat Cafe.

Since I’d been stuck on that designated request for a while, I figured I should show my face and let her know I’m still alive.

”Welcome! Oh? Well, aren’t you a cutie… Sylvie-san, was it? You’re the girlfriend, right?” Manami asked.

”It’s been a while. And yep, that’s her,” I said.

 ”Hello! ♪” Sylvie said.

Manami and Sylvie had met once before.

It was back when Manami was still an adventurer; we bumped into her after a date with the Gale Party.

They didn’t really know each other, though.

I’m thinking that eventually, Manami will join the group too…

but that’s probably a long way off.

Still, I’d love it if they could bond.

(Though if I told anyone from my previous life that I was planning a harem, they’d ask if I was institutionalized.)

”Manami-san, you’re from that other world too, right? Please, tell me all about it! ♪” Sylvie asked.

”I don’t have much to tell, honestly,” Manami replied.

”No way! Stories about a different world are always fun! ♪” Sylvie insisted.

”You think? Well, if you’re sure, Sylvie-san, I don’t mind,” Manami said.

As usual, Sylvie was fascinated by anything related to Earth.

Manami wasn’t exactly thrilled to walk down memory lane, but she couldn’t say no to Sylvie’s shimmering eyes.

Manami ended up talking about how, back at her old job, if she worked hard to get promoted, people whispered that she’d slept her way to the top.

The harder she worked, the more men avoided her.

It wasn’t exactly a ‘fun’ story; it just reminded me of how much she’d struggled.

But for Sylvie, hearing about a world so different from Leemans was riveting.

 She hung on every word.

”Manami-san, thank you! ♪ That was so fascinating,” Sylvie said.

”Was it? I thought it was a bit of a downer. But honestly, Sylvie-san, you’re so adorable… I’m actually a little jealous,” Manami admitted.

”You’re wonderful too, Manami-san! You’re such a hard worker, and you’re so cool, yet you love cats so much you opened a whole cafe for them. Isn’t that just the cutest thing, Daisuke-san?” Sylvie asked.

”Eh? Oh, yeah. Totally. Manami is definitely cute,” I said.

A total no-look pass from Sylvie! She caught me off guard, but I meant what I said.

 Manami really is charming.

”My, I appreciate the compliment, but is it really okay to flirt with me right in front of your girlfriend?” Manami teased.

”Wait, is there a problem with that?” Sylvie asked.

”Ah… right. I forgot how things work here…” Manami sighed.

 ”Haha…” I chuckled.

Manami is still carrying around the social baggage of our previous life.

I mean, if you lived in Japan until your thirties, it’s hard to shake that mindset.

I was in my forties when I kicked the bucket, but I’ve fully embraced the ‘when in Rome’ philosophy of this world.

(Okay, fine, I’ve always wanted a harem. That is an undeniable fact.) Regardless, winning over Manami is going to be a slow burn.

Between her personality and my Ordeal², I knew this was going to be a marathon, not a sprint.

Sylvie had a great time at the Cat Cafe and promised to come back.

Maybe I’ll bring the other three next time? Wait, would Meta and Camilla come too? Six people might be a bit much for a cat cafe…

* * *

In the afternoon, we took a stroll along the river.

It’s late summer, so there’s a bit of a heatwave, but the river breeze makes it bearable.

It’s still way cooler than a summer in Kanto back on Earth.

You can see the forest in the distance, but this area is busy with merchants and laborers moving cargo between the ships and the wagons.

 It’s a bit chaotic.

”Maybe the forest would have been better?” I asked.

”No, this is perfect. Just walking with you is enough to make me happy! ♪” Sylvie said.

Sylvie clung to my arm as we walked.

All my lovers are gorgeous, but Sylvie has this pure and innocent beauty that makes me feel nostalgic for my teenage years.

(Even though my actual teenage years were a miserable, grey void.) I wonder what the girl I liked back then is doing now.

I couldn’t even get a date back then, so she’s probably married with kids.

Heck, if she started early, she might even be a grandma by now.

”I wish I’d had a girlfriend like Sylvie back then,” I muttered.

”I am your girlfriend, silly,” Sylvie replied.

I’d accidentally said it out loud.

 Sylvie looked at me, confused.

”Oh, sorry. Just thinking about the past. I meant I wish I’d had someone like you in my old world,” I explained.

”Now that you mention it, Daisuke-san, you went like forty years without a girlfriend until you died over there, right?” Sylvie asked.

THWACK!

Critical hit to Daisuke! Damage: Fatal!

I clutched my chest, and a panicked Sylvie immediately tried to backtrack.

”O-oh! But look, the only reason we got to be together is because you didn’t have a girlfriend back then! It’s actually a good thing!” Sylvie shouted.

 ”……”

 There is no response.

 It’s as if he’s just a corpse.

Sylvie’s unintentional finishing move finally sent me to my knees.

She was visibly shaken, which is a rare sight for her.

”Daisuke-sa~n! I’m so sorry! I didn’t think you were that sensitive about it…” Sylvie wailed.

 ”It’s okay… I’m fine, Sylvie. It’s just a minor fatal wound,” I said.

It hurt like hell, but it doesn’t change how happy I am now.

My previous life was a train wreck, but my current life more than makes up for it.

Surrounded by beautiful, amazing women… what do I have to be depressed about? Sylvie looked like she was about to burst into tears, so I stood up and pulled her into a hug.

”I’m so sorry, Daisuke-san. I thought I was helping, but I was just being insensitive…” Sylvie sobbed.

”No, really. Being with you is worth all the misery of my past life and then some. Don’t worry about it,” I said.

(I mean, yeah, she definitely ripped the scab off an old wound. But there’s no point in making her feel worse.)

A moping Sylvie is cute in a dainty way, but I’d much rather see her smile.

”Come on, let’s see that smile. I love it when you’re happy,” I said.

”…Okay. And I think your smile is wonderful too, Daisuke-san,” Sylvie said.

When she beams like that, she’s so beautiful it’s like looking at a painting.

 Seriously, she’s just too pure.

For a mid-afternoon snack, we stopped by Rei’s Maid Cafe.

Just like the visit to Manami’s, this was partly just to say hi to Rei.

It was earlier than my usual visit, so the place was packed.

The business seems to be thriving, though I wouldn’t know the first thing about running a shop.

”Welcome home, Master! Welcome, Milady!” said Rei.

 ”I’m home, Rei,” I said.

”Ooh! So this is what it’s like! ♪” Sylvie remarked.

 Rei greeted us personally.

It was Sylvie’s first time in a maid cafe, and she was clearly fascinated.

(Come to think of it, I’ve exchanged ‘firsts’ with Ines, Sylvie, and Juliet. I should probably count this full-day date as my ‘first’ with Sylvie. I’m definitely not telling people about the shaving play. I need to think of something for Meta and Camilla too… Maybe for Camilla, it’s that we bonded through a duel? Or that she went from slave to lover? She is the youngest, though that’s not a ‘first.’ For Meta, our relationship started with the physical, so that was a first… no, actually, let’s skip that. I want to talk about that about as much as I want to talk about the shaving play.)

”I’ll have an orange juice… and some pancakes,” I said.

”Understood. And for Milady?” Rei asked.

”I’ll have the same, please,” Sylvie said.

Since this was a proper maid cafe, Rei’s service was top-notch.

She and Sylvie had met before, but I decided to do a proper introduction anyway.

I kept my voice low so the other customers wouldn’t overhear.

”(Rei, this is Sylvie, my girlfriend,)” I whispered.

”(I remember! ☆ She’s such a cutie, she’d look amazing in cosplay, wouldn’t she?)” Rei whispered back.

”(What are you talking about?)” I asked.

”(It’s Rei’s hobby. She loves dressing up in different outfits and playing a role, just like she’s doing here,)” I explained to Sylvie.

”(Whoa! That sounds like so much fun! ♪)” Sylvie said.

”(Oh? If you’re interested, Sylvie-san, you want to give it a try?)” Rei asked.

”(Yes! I’d love to! ♪)” Sylvie replied.

”(Rei, don’t go overboard, okay?)” I warned.

 ”(I know, I know ☆)” Rei said.

Sylvie is a sponge for anything from Earth, so it looks like she’s going to get into cosplay too.

Oh well, it’s good for her to have hobbies.

Sylvie spent the rest of the visit with her eyes glued to the ‘Maid’ experience.

Honestly, she’d probably even enjoy the moe-style cafes.

Rei seemed thrilled to have someone so genuinely excited about her work.

”This is so cool, Daisuke-san!” Sylvie exclaimed.

 ”I’m glad you’re having a good time,” I said.

We ended up staying quite a while because Sylvie was so engrossed in people-watching.

It was almost closing time by the time we got ready to leave.

I’d given Sylvie the ‘lite’ version of my relationship with Rei—basically, she’s a friend with benefits who’s also a potential future lover.

”I see. Rei-san is a riot, so I’m totally fine with that! ♪” Sylvie said.

”Thanks, I appreciate it,” I said.

The ‘cool big sister’ vibe Rei puts off seemed to mesh perfectly with Sylvie’s endless curiosity.

”(Rei-san, would you like to join us for dinner?)” Sylvie asked.

”(I don’t have any plans, so sure! ☆)” Rei replied.

Sylvie invited her, and Rei accepted immediately.

I’d already cleared it with Sylvie, so I had no reason to complain.

 Summary:

Daisuke goes on an all-day date with Sylvie, visiting a high-end clothing store, Manami’s Cat Cafe, and Rei’s Maid Cafe. The date is a mix of Earth-nostalgia and lighthearted harem management. The day concludes with an invitation for Rei to join them for dinner.

 —

 Trivia:

 - Daisuke was about 40 years old and a lifelong virgin in his previous life.

 - Manami was in her 30s (ara-sa) back on Earth.

 - Sylvie has a specific fascination with Earth-style entertainment like cosplay.

 - The ‘shaving play’ is a secret kink Daisuke shares with Sylvie but hides from others.

 - Camilla has become significantly more mentally stable since becoming Daisuke’s lover

 —

 Character Insight:

Sylvie demonstrates her ‘scary’ side by unintentionally dealing massive emotional damage to Daisuke regarding his past. Daisuke shows he is fully ‘corrupted’ by his new world’s harem values, despite Manami’s lingering Earth-based common sense.

 Lore And Worldbuilding Context:

The author notes that this chapter was substituted/revised from the original activity report plan.
