Volume 9 Chapter 15 Date & Date & Date

Edited by: Kanaa-senpai

Yellow Day; it felt like a Sunday.

In the morning, I had a date with the three former members of the Gale Party. In the afternoon, I was headed to the library, and from the evening on, I had a date with Meta.

”Daisuke, you’ve really started getting more lovers, haven’t you?” Sylvie said.

”That’s true. It’s already become difficult to secure time for a date with us every week,” Ines added.

”It’s true that I’ve been a bit busy lately, but I intend to keep our dates going, you three,” I replied.

”I’m happy to hear that, but there’s the balance with your other lovers to consider. It’s no problem even if the frequency of our dates drops,” Juliet said.

It was a fact that I was struggling to find individual date time as my circle grew. But relying on their kindness felt like a cop-out.

”We were just being treated too specially until now. Just living together makes me happy enough. Every day is basically a date anyway,” Ines said.

 ”Is that so?” I asked.

”Yes! We only share a bed every now and then, but we get to hug and kiss every single day!” Sylvie said.

”I share the same opinion as Sylvie,” Ines added.

 ”…Me too,” Juliet said.

Sylvie looked happy and smiley, Ines wore a gentle grin, and Juliet avoided eye contact while thumping her tail against the floor. My Insight Skills¹ didn’t react; they were speaking from the heart.

”As I said before, considering the balance with the other lovers, it isn’t good for us to be treated as favorites. It’ll just create unnecessary friction,” Ines said.

”That’s right. While I’m happy to be treated as precious, please let it be this way for Daisuke-san’s sake, and for ours as well,” Sylvie added.

”It’s not like we won’t date at all. It’ll just be at the same level as everyone else,” Juliet said.

”…I understand. Everyone, thank you,” I said.

When they put it that way, it was hard to argue. There was a hint of loneliness, but it wasn’t like we were being separated, and I was the one who increased the number of lovers in the first place.

”In exchange, I’d be happy if you loved us even more than before when we’re at home… ♡” Ines said.

”Fufufu, I agree with Ines-san! Right, Juliet-san?” Sylvie said.

 ”…Yeah,” Juliet said.

”Of course. I’ll make sure of it,” I replied.

Rather than lamenting the drop in date frequency, the three of them seemed a bit excited, likely imagining the intense nights ahead. If the quantity of time was going down, I’d have to work hard to increase the density so their satisfaction didn’t drop.

After finishing my research at the library, I headed toward the exit with Clarissa-san. This was our first time together since becoming lovers. By the way, when I entered, she had welcomed me with a beaming smile that had nothing to do with her professional librarian persona.

”I’m grateful just to see you, Clarissa-san, but it’s a shame our time is so short,” I said.

”You’re right… I’m sorry that we can’t live together yet because of my circumstances,” Clarissa said.

”No, it can’t be helped, so it’s fine,” I replied.

If it were a long-distance relationship, it would be one thing, but even though we were within walking distance, it was hard to increase the date frequency. Just as the other three pointed out, it was because my schedule was packed. Because of that, even this sliver of time had to count as a date.

”I know. Should I walk you home every day when you finish work?” I asked.

”Oh my, every day would be unthinkable! I already feel guilty enough just to be dating you!” Clarissa said.

”That’s not true. I’ve always wanted to be your lover, Clarissa-san. Ever since the first time I met you,” I said.

”To think you cared for me that much… I’m so happy, Daisuke-san♡ Nnn♡” Clarissa said.

Clarissa-san slid next to me and locked her arm with mine. Her moist eyes were heavy with heat. As we gazed at each other, our lips naturally drew close for a kiss. It was a light, lingering touch.

”Even if it’s not every day, how about once a week? A little evening date,” I said.

”Yes, I’d be very happy with that,” Clarissa said.

Clarissa-san, smiling brightly, really was the ultimate “big sister” type. Since the Royal Library was closed on Indigo Day, she suggested Blue Day—the day before the closure—would be best.

”Then it’s a deal. We’re almost at the exit, so… the ‘usual’ please,” I said.

”Ufufu♡ Yes, here you go♡” Clarissa said.

Clarissa-san gave me a soft, gentle embrace and kissed me again. Wrapped in the scent of roses and her incredible softness, my stress seemed to melt away. Ah, this was pure healing.

”I’ll come to pick you up when you finish work on Blue Day,” I said.

”Yes, I’ll be waiting♡” Clarissa said.

Clarissa-san saw me off with a radiant smile. Now that we were lovers, her cuteness was becoming dangerously high. The more I saw her, the more I was drawn in.

Meta had been swamped lately after switching parties. Because of that, my date with Meta ended up being later than Camilla’s, but I chose the same garden as the venue. Like Camilla, Meta had said, “As long as I can be with Daisuke-sama, the location does not matter♡”

Since this was our first time out, I met her at the fountain square to give it a proper “date” feel.

”I am sorry to have kept you waiting, Daisuke-sama,” Meta said.

”Wow. You look beautiful, Meta,” I said.

”Thank you very much♡” Meta replied.

Meta walked over with a graceful, sedate stride. She wasn’t wearing her usual Priestly Vestments, but a loose, flowing one-piece dress. It was cinched high at the waist, which emphasized her large chest. Even so, she didn’t look vulgar; she had a mystical atmosphere that was hers alone.

”Well, shall we go?” I asked.

 ”Yes♡” Meta replied.

Meta glided to my side and hugged my arm. Her slightly flushed cheeks looked innocent. Holding the arm rather than just locking them seemed to be the standard for lovers here.

”I never thought I would experience these ‘girly’ feelings at my age… but I am glad above all that Daisuke-sama seems pleased♡” Meta said.

 ”…Yeah. I’m a big fan of this,” I replied.

Meta seemed happy saying that, but I was 90% sure the girls were sharing notes. Well, I was happy, so I wasn’t going to complain.

* * *

As far as I knew, Meta was the only one in the current harem with a divorce in her past. I hadn’t asked Regina-san, so I couldn’t be sure about her. From what I’d heard, Meta had no lingering feelings for her ex-husband, but I wondered what she thought of marriage in general.

”Meta, do you have a dislike for marriage or anything?” I asked.

”I no longer have a vague longing for the institution, but if it were with Daisuke-sama, I feel it would be something wonderful,” Meta replied.

Meta, smiling gently, had the purity of a Saint. Even though she was a total mess in bed.

”This is a very rude question, but is Daisuke-sama positive about marrying us?” Meta asked.

”Of course. We even made an ‘Oath’², so I have no intention of leaving you,” I said.

”That is true, but… is it not okay even if you are not necessarily bound by marriage?” Meta asked.

”Really? I wouldn’t know since I’ve never done it, but I think it’s important to give our relationship a proper, official shape,” I replied.

Life wouldn’t be a problem even as just lovers. This world didn’t have spousal tax breaks or government pensions for commoners to worry about. But there were still merits to being “official.” It made it easier to intervene in legal trouble or handle inheritance. Proving a relationship as mere lovers was a much higher hurdle.

”Daisuke-sama… were you married in your Previous Life?” Meta asked.

 ”No, I wasn’t. Honestly, I didn’t even have a girlfriend,” I said.

”My… was that so?” Meta said.

For some reason, Meta looked shocked. I’d told Ines and the others, but I guess that part of the “lore” hadn’t been shared yet. They shared my sexual kinks, but not my tragic backstory?

”What was your life like back then?” Meta asked.

”In my Previous Life, it was safe and stable, but incredibly boring. My job now involves risking my life, but since Meta and everyone else is here, it’s actually fun,” I said.

”I am happy if I am of use to Daisuke-sama♡” Meta said.

To someone in this world, modern Japan—with its safety and stable income—might seem like a paradise. But they didn’t see the suffocating pressure from parents and colleagues about being single. They didn’t see the hell of commuting on a packed train while terrified of false groping accusations. They didn’t see the soul-crushing corporate slogans like “Optimize Efficiency!” that never actually meant anything. It was a suffocating existence.

I remembered my balding boss Osamu—Manager Yoshikawa back then. He ignored every opinion I had. Then there was Otto, also known as Ina-shi, who wasted my time with endless, empty stories. And Yuko—Saeki-shi—who loved “flexing” on me with emails about her wedding or her new baby. My old life was full of resentment. In this world, I had almost none. I finally got the lovers I’d wanted since my previous life. The struggles were worth it. Eventually, it looked like I’d be able to get married, too.

”If we get married, I’ll have to go meet your family, Meta,” I said.

”I appreciate the thought, but… my parents have passed away, and I am on bad terms with my older brother who inherited the house. He was not pleased when I divorced the man the family chose for me,” Meta said.

 ”Ah. I see,” I replied.

Since it was an arranged marriage, the divorce must have been a nightmare. “Bad terms” was probably a euphemism for being disowned. Considering she’d made an “Oath” at the time, she knew the risk of Divine Punishment³. The fact that she left anyway showed just how much she loathed the ex. Better to change the subject.

”How are things going with the party? You and Ines getting along?” I asked.

”Perfectly. Their coordination is seamless, and they are such hard workers. I admire their caution; they never charge in blindly,” Meta said.

”And Vanessa? Is she fitting in?” I asked.

”Her language is crude, and she can be blunt, but she is a seasoned veteran. She knows exactly when to retreat. As a vanguard, she is very reliable,” Meta said.

”Glad to hear it. How about them personally? Everyone clicking?” I asked.

”Yes, no issues there. I think the girls from the Gale Party have lovely personalities,” Meta replied.

”I’m happy you appreciate Ines and Juliet, not just Sylvie,” I said.

”Yes. Seeing Ines act like a smitten girl around you, or watching Juliet try to act tough… it is very endearing. I have not bonded as much with Vanessa yet, but her bright personality is a welcome addition,” Meta said.

The core four seemed solid. I wondered about the slaves.

 ”And Liese’s group?” I asked.

”Their loyalty to you is absolute. Their affection is plain to see. It is a wonderful thing,” Meta replied.

It was a bit weird that her only metric for a “good person” was how much they loved me, but I wasn’t going to knock it.

”What about Nicola and Grete?” I asked.

”Nicola is quite taken with you as well. Grete… her heart is harder to read, but the affection is undoubtedly there,” Meta replied.

Even the new recruits were being judged on the Daisuke-Scale. It felt a little cult-like, but maybe that was normal for this world.

”If I had one concern… Juliet and Ilse can be a bit irreverent. Perhaps I should take them aside and ‘teach’ them properly about Daisuke-sama’s greatness?” Meta asked.

 ”Yeah… let’s not do that,” I said.

 ”Is that so?” Meta asked.

”I like them the way they are. Unless they want to change on their own, I’m fine with it. Besides, I need people around who aren’t afraid to give me a reality check,” I said.

”I see… I have failed to grasp the depth of your foresight. Please forgive my meddling,” Meta said.

”It’s not that deep, Meta. But I appreciate the sentiment. Thank you for looking out for me,” I said.

”It is my greatest honor♡” Meta replied.

She was definitely overestimating me. In a world where life is cheap, being cautious is just common sense. Having people who will say “no” to you is a survival strategy. I’d been bold when I had to be—like the duel for Camilla—but balance was everything.

”Do you intend to join another party yourself, Daisuke-sama?” Meta asked.

”Hard to say. Most B-Ranks and up are… ‘eccentric,’ to put it mildly. I’m not against the idea, but I’d need to find a group that fits my vibe and power level,” I replied.

Honestly, the merits of a party were slim right now. Unless I found some A-Ranks to carry me, I was doing fine on my own.

”If you truly wished it, you would have your pick of any group in the city. Anyone who knows your strength and character would be a fool to refuse. Besides… there isn’t a woman alive who wouldn’t be overjoyed once she’s been ‘properly guided’ by you… ♡” Meta said.

The conversation took a sharp turn into the “pink” zone. Meta’s eyes were heavy, her cheeks flushed, and she was pressing her body against mine. The “Cool Priest” was gone, replaced by the “Aggressive Lover.”

”I appreciate the confidence, Meta, but I’ve got those Minus Skills to deal with. It’s not exactly easy to just start relationships with everyone,” I said.

 ”A tragedy, truly,” Meta replied.

Wait, why did she sound genuinely disappointed? What exactly did she want me to do? I was almost too scared to ask.

”In order to spread the word of your magnificence to the women of the world… I suppose I’ll just have to start missio—I mean, recruiting for you… ♡” Meta said.

”Whoa, stop! Abort mission!” I shouted.

She definitely said “missionary work.” She didn’t even try to hide it! Meta tends to view me as some kind of holy icon. If I don’t keep a tight leash on her “evangelism,” it’s going to cause a massive scandal. I spent way too much time convincing her not to start a war with the Seven Pillar Religion. I was not going through that again.

Polite yet lethargic, with poor etiquette, she struggles with entitlement and isolation, excluded from peer groups by her elitist mindset and unresolved stress from her past life.
