Thanks to Hiiragi’s help, we were all set and ready.
When we finally spotted the Ghost Knight, it looked like they were chasing something.
”There’s our classmate running away. It’s Kadora and Aoki.”
Kashiro quickly filled me in on the situation.
What a strange pair. A lone wolf outlaw and a charming narcissist. I’ve never seen them get along at the Academy.
”This is our chance to ambush. Let’s go for it.”
As I gave the order, the class rep jumped in first. Wrapped in lightning, they clashed with the armored ghost. The followers were different from regular zombies; they seemed to belong to the Ghost Knight species. The boss looked like a powerful Demon General class, and according to Kashiro, they used to be a knight commander in Another World…
”Oh, it’s Hyakudou!”
Aoki, who had somehow managed to survive, spotted me and shouted happily.
Aoki Sousuke. A handsome guy who could be an actor, full of confidence and a bit of a narcissist. He dyed his hair blue like his name suggests, and in class, he was seen as a bit of a disappointing pretty boy.
”Hah. Looks like luck is on my side.”
The short-haired guy with a buzz cut glanced our way for just a moment.
Kadora Akito. A tough outlaw rumored to be part of the yakuza. Still, he wasn’t really a harmful guy. He didn’t hang out with anyone in class and stuck to being a lone wolf.
”We’ll take them down here. Help me out.”
When I called out, the two nodded in agreement. With zombies spawning endlessly, having them on my side was a huge relief.
”Kadora has Dimensional Magic. He can slice through space. Aoki has Blue Flame Magic… perfect abilities for this.”
Just as Kashiro said, blue flames enveloped the Ghost Knights.
But then, the boss swung a massive spear, and with just one strike, the flames scattered like mist.
”That weapon has an insane amount of magical power. Be careful!”
Nodding at Kashiro’s advice, I close the distance to the Ghost Knight.
Gripping the two Battle Axes──Ogre’s Twin Axes tightly, I face off against the boss.
”Too bad you lack intelligence. We can’t even exchange names.”
I always wanted to try that once. It sounds so cool.
The black knight silently readies his giant spear and rushes at me in one breath.
I deflect the spear’s path with one axe and aim for the helmet with the other.
But suddenly, the black spear appears out of nowhere… blocking my Battle Axe. I could break it in one hit, but the momentum drops, and I can’t reach the helmet.
”Is it really that versatile? Can it even act as a shield? Seriously?”
Grumbling, I jump back, and several spears rush toward the spot I was just in a moment ago. If I don’t keep moving, I’ll get skewered.
The Ghost Knight sways and approaches me.
It’s not fast, and it doesn’t have the strength of an ogre. Compared to big sister, it’s way weaker. The only troublesome thing is its Magic. But with this Battle Axe, I can break that Magic.
Surprisingly, I think I can handle this.
If it blocks, I just need to pierce through the spears and hit it.
However, it doesn’t give me enough time to gather my strength. The black spears keep appearing, which is annoying.
In that case.
I throw one axe with all my might, gaining some distance for a run-up. The Ghost Knight tries to block with its black spear, but the Battle Axe keeps smashing through one after another. In the end, it’s knocked down by the giant spear, but I bought some time and lightened my load by one axe.
I dive in like a high jumper, mimicking a gymnast with consecutive jumps. Occasionally letting go of the Battle Axe mid-air, I grab it again──performing acrobatic moves to weave through the black spears thrusting out from the void.
──With the final landing, I slam the Battle Axe down onto the Ghost Knight’s helmet.
’Demon general class Ghost Knight defeated. +6000pt’
Hmph. I might be grateful for being the son of an athlete for the first time.
”Just as I expected. Hyakudou is the man I thought he was!”
Aoki praised me excitedly.
”…That was something else, not even human anymore.”
Kadora chuckled, shaking his head in disbelief.
I didn’t mind the compliments. It felt good to have my ego stroked.
”Hyakudou, if you’re done over there, can you help us out?”
I was lost in the moment when the class rep coldly snapped at me, and I quickly got back to work. The fight wasn’t over yet. It would be nice if the minions disappeared along with their boss.
* * *
”Wow, that was amazing! Hyakudou is a genius!”
After we took care of the leftovers, Aoki rushed over and started slapping my back.
”That hurts, stop it, Aoki. I’ll hit you back.”
”If you hit me, I’ll die! Hahaha!”
I had no idea what was so funny; Aoki showed no signs of remorse. Dealing with him was exhausting.
”What a cheerful guy.”
Hiiragi smiled, and Aoki quickly darted over to grab her hand… only to be dodged by her teleportation magic. Still, Aoki didn’t give up, bowing to Hiiragi and flipping his bangs back to flash a bright smile.
”Nice to meet you, beautiful lady. I’m Aoki Sousuke, the Nobleman of Flames. I fell in love with your beauty, more stunning than any night view. Please, allow me to kiss your hand.”
At this point, I was more impressed than shocked. Doesn’t he feel embarrassed?
”I’m sorry. I’m from Another World, so I don’t understand Earth’s language~.”
Hiiragi was lying so casually. You’re strict about other people’s lies, but you’re lying yourself?
”I apologize for my lack of consideration. I’m a disgrace as a gentleman…”
No, she’s clearly speaking Japanese. Wake up, Aoki, don’t be so easily fooled.
”Whatever, can we move already? The stench of the zombies is so bad it’s making my nose curl.”
Everyone agreed with Kadora’s words, and we started collecting our spoils.
”So, Hyakudou, what are we going to do with those 2 boys?”
Kashiro comes closer, whispering as he asks. While I’m deep in thought, Hiiragi the maid, who also approached, makes a suggestion.
”I have a hut where I used to live. I’ve moved out, and I have nothing there now, so let’s give it to them.”
”Is that okay? I feel bad about giving up such a good activity base.”
”It’s something I don’t need right now.”
For now, let’s see how that goes.
”What will we do if they ask where we’re living?”
”If Mr. Hyakudou insists it’s a boys-free zone, they’ll probably give up. After all, we just showed some superhuman moves.”
”Is it really a problem if we invite them to the base?”
”It feels like they’d hit on us every day, and I might just end up killing someone.”
”I don’t want more guys around either.”
Since the girls strongly opposed it, I decided to back down. So, I guess I’m going to be the guy trying to monopolize the harem. The other guys are probably going to see me as a target.
Worried about making unnecessary enemies, Mayuki trotted over.
”Koushi. There was something like an apple in the zombie clothes.”
”Throw it away.”
”Okay, ahh──.”
”That ‘ahh’ isn’t cute. Don’t try to feed me.”
”Well, you haven’t been paying attention to me lately.”
”Were you really going to kill me!?”
”Just a cute jealousy.”
”Don’t say that yourself. This is just shit.”
”I think I can love you even when you make boring jokes, Koushi.”
”Make sure to say that with confidence. Was it really boring just now?”
”I’ll ask you the opposite. Could you say that joke in front of your big sister?”
”I don’t want to see my big sister’s sad face.”
”I also like you, Koushi, the sis-con.”
