’Bought a small backpack (capacity: 50)’
It cost 300 points, which is pretty expensive, but it has Magic, so no matter how much I pack in it, the weight doesn’t change. The inside of the backpack seems to be a Magic space, and it looks like I can fit anything up to 50 items, no matter the size.
Collecting the daggers and Magic staffs from the Goblins will save on Weapons, and the club that the King Goblin had is really useful.
”This staff seems to boost attack Magic. It’s surprising that a Goblin has such good Weapons.”
Since the Magic staff wouldn’t do me any good, I gave it to Kashirou. Thanks to ‘Analysis Magic,’ I can understand how to use it and what it does, which is super handy.
”Aren’t you tired?”
I ask Kashirou as we leave the Nest.
I want to keep exploring, but if she’s too tired, I’ll give up.
”I’ve just been walking. Are you okay, Hyakudou?”
”I’m not bragging, but my dad was in the Self-Defense Forces and my mom was a top athlete. I was born with great physical abilities, so this is just a warm-up for me.”
”Thanks for the clear bragging. You were definitely the center of attention during gym class at the Academy.”
”Just compliment my perfect body. I’m confident in my physique, thanks to my monster of a big sister training me too.”
Well, I could never beat my big sister.
Looking back, she really was a monster, so it makes sense I couldn’t keep up.
”By the way, what’s next? Are we looking for Demonkind again?”
”No. I think we should look for other classmates before it gets dark. Spending the night in the forest would be tough.”
Kashirou looks like she’s thinking hard.
”How about we check the Beach? You and I both started there. People who are too scared might still be hanging out at the Beach instead of going into the forest.”
──That makes sense.
Students who confidently explore the forest are likely either self-assured or have strong Magic. They’re probably better off than those who stayed at the Beach. We can leave them alone and focus on protecting the shy students.

After defeating a few Demonkind, we finally reached the Beach.
It’s already getting dark.
I hope we can find some classmates.
”The sea is really beautiful…”
Kashirou is holding her hair down as she looks out at the ocean. I probably shouldn’t say that her profile looks prettier. She might think I’m trying to flirt and get suspicious.
After walking along the Beach for a while, we spotted a classmate.
She was sitting on the sand, facing the sea, and didn’t seem to notice us.
I was about to call out to her when──
”Mama… even if I die, you won’t hold a funeral for me, right…”
That’s dark.
I thought she might be homesick, but it feels different. What kind of mother wouldn’t hold a funeral for her daughter if she died?
”I want to go home, but I have no place to return to… My life was over from the start…”
Her sadness is pretty unique.
She started crying, making it hard to approach her, but I can’t just stand here forever. I can’t think of anything clever to say, so I’ll just speak normally.
”Yodomizu, you’re okay!”
The girl who was crying jumped a bit. I must have startled her by speaking suddenly. Sorry about that.
”──I’m sorry! I’m not tasty, so please don’t eat me!”
”Hey, do I look like a Demonkind to you?”
”Your fighting skills were beyond that of a Demonkind, though.”
Finally, the girl seemed to recognize us correctly and stared wide-eyed.
”Ms. Kashiro…!?”
”I’m here too, you know.”
”Ah…”
”Why are you scared?”
”S-sorry…”
She looks like a cornered hamster. That kind of hurts a little.
I’ve never really been liked by small animals. I didn’t think I’d be scared by a girl who seems like a small animal too.
The girl who’s been looking at me nervously is Yodomizu Anri. She has long, wavy brown hair and is shorter than most of her classmates, which makes me think of squirrels and hamsters. Even though she’s small, she has a decent chest, so she often catches the boys’ attention.
Like Kashirou, I haven’t talked much to her since we were at the Academy. I felt like she was avoiding me, but I never thought she was actually scared of me. I’m not a violent guy or anything.
”Kashirou, can you explain things to her? We can’t just leave her here, so if you can, try to invite her to the Base. I don’t think I can have a conversation.”
Kashirou nodded and started explaining to Yodomizu.
What’s funny is that even Kashirou seemed a bit scared of her.
Yeah, Kashirou doesn’t really look like a friendly person either. But when you talk to her, she’s actually really caring and kind. Still, if you only know her as the quiet girl who shuts everyone out in class, it’s easy to misunderstand her. When she’s focused on reading, she ignores people, and the girls don’t think highly of her. The boys say they like her mysterious side, though.
”All done.”
”Okay. So, what now?”
I asked Yodomizu.
She looked at the knife I was holding, turned pale, shook her head quickly, and looked at me again.
”Um… I’m not very good at this, but nice to meet you!”
She might be scared of me, but maybe she thought it was better than being alone.
I’m a bit worried about what’s ahead, but for now, I’m going to live with these two girls.

Right now, I have 2100 points.
When I got back to the Base, I was struggling to figure things out.
I lost 300 points for the backpack, gained 20 points for hunting Demonkind on the way to the Beach, and got 200 points for the housemate bonus.
Even though having one more person means more food costs, the bonus almost cancels that out.
Now, I just need to decide what to prioritize.
”First, we definitely need a toilet, right?”
Kashirou and Yodomizu nodded eagerly.
If it was just me, I could manage in the woods, but girls can’t do that.
”We also need a bathroom, right?”
Kashirou and Yodomizu nodded again and again.
If it was just me, I could bathe in the river, but girls can’t do that either.
The toilet costs 500 points, and the bathroom costs 700 points.
That’s a total of 1200 points, leaving me with 900 points.
It’s a lot, but I can’t avoid it.
After buying them, 2 doors appeared in the corner of the room.
We all checked them together. When I opened one door, I found a surprisingly spacious bathroom with a shower and a bathtub. The only downside is that there’s no changing area, but I guess I have to accept that.
The toilet is a private room with a lock. This should make the two girls feel safe.
Now, I need to think about living supplies.
After coming out of the bathroom, I need bath towels, which cost 10 points each… so that’s 30 points for 3. I also need a hairdryer, which is another 30 points. Soap and shampoo are 10 and 20 points, so I’ll buy those too.
It would be good to have extra uniforms, so that’s 50 points each for 3. A washing machine costs 200 points… it’s expensive, but it’s necessary. I can’t just leave wet towels and uniforms lying around.
It’s also good to have extra underwear. A set costs 20 points. I can choose my own innerwear, but I should ask the two girls about theirs since there are so many options. It’s a bit awkward, but I have to do it.
”Do you have any color preferences for the underwear? And if we buy some, we’ll need to know the sizes too.”
Kashirou and Yodomizu came closer and whispered in my ear. I tried to stay calm while listening, but… I don’t think I’ll be able to forget this. Kashirou is one thing, but Yodomizu is pretty big too.
After all that, I have 400 points left.
It’s a big expense, but it’s normal to spend money on the first day of moving.
”Kashirou, Yodomizu. Choose for us. Should we each use a sleeping bag, get futons, or buy one double bed for the two of you to share? What do you think?”
The two looked a bit confused.
We could buy one bed and one sleeping bag, but maybe they wouldn’t like sharing a bed.
”…I’ve never used a sleeping bag before.”
”So, should we just go with the futons?”
They both nodded.
Three futons and 3 comforters. Each costs 30 points, so that’s 180 points total.
Then I bought 3 bottles of water and 3 packs of food, adding another 60 points.
Now I only have 160 points left… I used almost everything.
I thought to myself that I would work really hard tomorrow.
