The light pouring through the windows was infused with the pink blush of cherry blossoms, allowing everyone to feel the warm, easygoing mood of spring.
”Woah, she’s so pretty…”
The silver-haired girl stood alone by a window in the school corridor, whispering the observation to herself as her gaze landed on the stunning, pink-haired beauty in the distance.
”Hibiki-chan, your hair looks absolutely gorgeous now!” exclaimed one of the girls.
”Right?! I know, I know!” Hibiki cheered back.
”Do you think he could do the same for my long hair?” Koharu asked in her gentle, yet inquisitive way.
”Of course he could, silly! He can do anything!” Hibiki giggled.
There they were: the trio of beauties spotted frequently around school. One, the focal point of the conversation, was the incredibly cute, sparkling, pink-haired Hibiki; beside her, the seemingly quiet Koharu, who was surprisingly cheerful when she spoke and had dark hair with a few tasteful personal touches. Next to them stood Kirino, the school’s top beauty, with long blue hair, a graceful posture, and refined speech.
As the three walked toward the silver-haired girl, a wave of shame washed over her. She got flustered, panicked, and hastily shuffled further into the corner by the wall, trying to erase her own presence.
”Aba, abababa-ba!” The bizarre, nervous mantra flew from her trembling lips.
”Huh?” The pink-haired beauty, Hibiki, caught the sound and glanced toward the window niche.
”Oh, hey, Hirose! We’re going to get lunch now!”
Hibiki had spotted her actual target and seemed to lose interest in the girl immediately—
Or so she should have.
”Wait a minute…” Hibiki muttered, pausing her steps.
”Aba!?” The girl who had been watching was mortified. Hibiki looked at the nervous freshman, then back to the boy she’d just called Hirose, then back again. She repeated the worried glance several times.
Caught in the unwanted spotlight, the embarrassed girl hid her face with both hands.
”Aba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba!?”
Unable to stand the attention, the girl bolted, running away from the scene.
”Hey, Yaginuma! No running in the halls!” a nearby teacher barked at the student.
”Aba!? I’m—I’m so sorry!” she squeaked back.
”…That girl… she was glowing, right?” Hibiki whispered to her friends.
To the pink-haired beauty, this was now the third person in the school she had seen “glow.”

—The school year had changed, and they were all now second-year high school students.
It was last autumn when Takanashi Hirose celebrated his sixteenth birthday and learned through his ‘Appraisal’ that he was blessed with the ‘Beauty’ Gift.
Initially, Hirose was deeply disappointed—he had dreamed of being an Adventurer, and this Gift wouldn’t allow it. But then Rindou Hibiki, the stunning pink-haired girl who sat at the top of the classroom social ‘caste,’ reached out to him.
Following her plea to use his Gift, Hirose ended up seeing her in a completely scandalous state due to the Gift’s Recoil effect, which led to them becoming intimate. However, the Gift’s Effect started to manifest quickly, transforming her look and skin. Hibiki was absolutely thrilled.
After that, Hirose met Hibiki’s friend Kushima Koharu and, during lunch, the school’s top beauty, Hidou Kirino. He solved their problems, too.
Now, Hibiki was his girlfriend, and for reasons Hirose hadn’t quite grasped, he was regularly intimate with both Koharu and Kirino as well. But for now, the four of them were blissfully happy.
With the shift to the second year came new classes, and somehow, Hirose, Hibiki, Koharu, and even Kirino were all placed in the same class.
The three girls celebrated the news with excited high-fives.
Watching them from the side were Hibiki’s other good friends, Motoya Himari and Ihara Kairi, who were also in the same class. This particular class immediately became known for having an unusually high number of beautiful girls—students from other classes were constantly coming to peer inside the classroom.
It was a little while into the second year when Hibiki began showing a noticeable change.
”Wait, Hibiki… what did you do to your hair?” Himari asked, her eyes wide.
”Seriously! It’s all super shiny and bouncy, you know?” Kairi chimed in.
”Hehe. Pretty, right?” Hibiki beamed.
Hibiki’s hair had always been beautiful. She spent a decent amount of money getting regular treatments at a salon and took great care of it daily, so it was naturally gorgeous. However, today’s hair quality was even better than it had been just a day before.
”Which salon did you go to? Spill it!” Himari practically demanded.
”Tell me, too!” Kairi squealed.
Himari and Kairi pressed in on Hibiki, gently touching her silky hair and giggling excitedly.
Why had Hibiki’s hair become so beautiful? The reason went back to when they were still first-years, just before spring break.
”—I learned a Skill.”
That day, they were all hanging out at Hibiki’s house when Hirose suddenly announced the news.
”What?! What is it, what did you learn?!” Hibiki burst out.
”I wonder what it is this time… Considering Hirose-kun’s Gift, I can only imagine the best possible Skill,” Koharu murmured.
”I am most curious to know!” Kirino declared.
The three women leaned in, their knees almost touching Hirose’s, waiting in eager anticipation for his next words.
”—’Hair Quality Improvement’.”
The moment Hirose pronounced the words, the three women screamed.
””KYAAAAAAA!””
Hirose was startled by the powerful sonic attack and quickly covered his ears with both hands.
”Hey! What kind of Effect does it have? Come on, tell us!” Hibiki yelled, grabbing him.
”Y-Yes, tell us! Hirose-kun, quickly… quickly!” Koharu pleaded.
”I must know! What kind of Effect is it?!” Kirino exclaimed, a rare display of intense excitement from her.
They grabbed his body and shook him back and forth. Even Kirino, who rarely acted this way, was throbbing with excitement.
”I’ll tell you! I’m telling you now…! It seems to have a lot of different Effects… things like hair growth, nourishment… and gloss and body, too! Anyway, it just makes the scalp and hair beautiful.” Hirose explained, trying to calm them down.
”Amazing! Amazing! That’s, like, a Godly Skill just for hair!” Hibiki shrieked.
”Such an unbelievable Skill! Hirose-kun… you really are incredible!” Koharu breathed.
”Will it even eliminate my split ends?!” Kirino inquired with great hope.

In short, it was a Skill to make hair beautiful. For girls who spend every day caring for their hair, it was a dream Skill. For anyone with thinning hair, the Effects were simply unbelievable.
”They say a girl’s life depends on her hair, you know?” Hibiki noted.
”That’s right! You wouldn’t believe how much money we spend on hair and how much we care for it every day!” Koharu lamented.
When she and Hirose first became close, her hair was a shoulder-length bob, but now it had grown and was styled below her collarbone. The longer the hair, the harder the care.
Unlike boys with short hair, drying it took time. They also took care to keep it beautiful by applying hair packs, treatments, and hair oil, and brushing it carefully.
”You already look beautiful, so what will happen if it gets even more beautiful?” Hirose mused.
”I don’t know! I thought this was the limit!” Hibiki cried.
”It seems I can control it, so if you show me a picture of the kind of hair you want, I think I can get close to it,” Hirose offered.
”That is the BEST thing ever!”
Hibiki threw her arms around Hirose, pleading with him to use his new Skill on her immediately.
Four weeks later—no, three weeks later.
Perhaps because Hirose had been using the Skill so frequently, the number of treatments required for the Effect to manifest had been reduced from the original eight sessions over four weeks to six sessions over just three weeks.
”Hibiki-chan, your hair looks absolutely gorgeous now!”
”Right?! I know, I know!”
”Do you think he could do the same for my long hair?”
”Of course he could, silly! He can do anything!”
And so, we return to the beginning of the scene.
Hibiki was the first to try the Skill to determine its Effects before Koharu and Kirino got their turn, so she was the only one who had truly felt the results of the ‘Hair Quality Improvement’ so far.
On this day, Hibiki and her friends were heading to the washroom before joining Hirose for lunch, just like any other day.
That’s when it happened.
”Aba, abababa-ba!”
Hearing the distinctive voice, Hibiki instinctively glanced toward the source. The girl by the window was small, with silver hair that was noticeably thick and curly, a natural perm that looked almost like an afro. Her eyes were hidden, either by her hair or intentionally.
(Must be a first-year. What amazing hair… looks like a little sheep), Hibiki mused.
After spotting Hirose, Hibiki felt a strange impulse to use her ‘Wish-Seeker’ Gift on the girl. Perhaps it was because of the beauty of her own hair following the ‘Hair Quality Improvement’—or perhaps because the girl’s nearly Afro-like hairstyle, so similar to a certain popular Hokkaido celebrity’s messy wake-up look, made her curious.

Hibiki stopped dead. She looked back and forth between the first-year girl and Hirose. When she activated the Skill and confirmed the ‘glow,’ she realized that both the girl and Hirose were lit up simultaneously.
”Hey, Yaginuma! No running in the halls!” the teacher bellowed.
”Aba!? I’m—I’m so sorry!”
The girl, whom Hibiki’s stare had apparently terrified, ran away, but her image was strongly imprinted on Hibiki’s memory.
”…That girl… she was glowing, right?” Hibiki wondered aloud.
That was Yaginuma, the first-year student.
In that moment, the first-year became the third person to ‘glow’, signaling that Hirose had the potential to grant her wish, too.
