Volume 3 Chapter 2 The Actress’s Secret Vulnerability and the Sensitivity Improvement Gift
Edited by: Kanaa-senpai
”Would it be alright if I joined your conversation? The one who sought to join the six people talking in the break room between filming was Shiina Oriko, the hot topic young actress everyone was talking about.
Her hair was a pure, unarranged black, unlike Koharu’s styled look—a straight cut perfectly suited to her image as a pure and innocent actress. She was a genuine celebrity. Everyone looked at her with surprise, wondering why she had bothered to speak to them.
”If you don’t mind our company… please do,” Hibiki murmured.
”Then…” Oriko sat down right next to Hirose. Hirose, having a famous actress settle so close to him, immediately tensed up, twitching nervously. He tried to send eye-contact signals, pleading for help, but none of his friends came to his rescue.
”—The truth is, I possess a Gift called ‘Eavesdrop’,” Oriko suddenly revealed, even though nobody had asked. Hearing this, Hibiki and the others flinched in surprise.
It meant exactly what they thought.
”You were reacting to something about me, weren’t you?” she inquired.
She had listened in. They had been whispering, yes, but at a volume that should have been impossible to hear. The fact that she had heard them meant Oriko’s Gift had been activated.
(Hey, what’re we gonna do, Hibiki?)
(This means she heard the skill name, too, right?)
(Then trying to lie now…)
(Should we give her a quick explanation?)
(Worst case, I’ll fix it with my ‘Pledge’.)
The group exchanged this conversation entirely through silent, darting eye contact. Finally, Hibiki spoke.
”—The thing is, my skill reacted to you, Shiina Oriko-san. Simply put, it indicates that you want the skill Hirose has, the one sitting right there,” Hibiki explained, trying to sound matter-of-fact.
”That this boy holds the thing I desire…” Oriko murmured, narrowing her eyes as she stared at Hirose. Hirose, still frozen in place, was unable to move a muscle.
”That would be—”
”—’Sensitivity Improvement’, wouldn’t it?” Oriko completed Hibiki’s sentence. She had, indeed, heard the skill’s name.
”Yes, that’s right. It’s just… some of us here have had our problems solved by Hirose, so we thought you might also be struggling with something,” Hibiki admitted.
”……” Oriko fell into thought after Hibiki’s statement. Her expression was utterly serious. The Oriko on TV showed a variety of lively expressions, but in this private space, she hadn’t smiled once.
”Manager,” she called.
”Yes,” replied the woman in a suit and glasses standing behind her.
”May I talk about it?”
”…Frankly, I do not recommend it,” the manager responded. However, she didn’t outright forbid it.
”You all seem like good people… can you swear not to spread this outside?”
”Huh? You’re about to say something that important?!” Himari cried out in surprise. {.image-trigger}
”Important… well, it is important to me. But as for the public… I don’t know.”
”We’re just normal people! We can’t really handle a huge secret like that!” Hibiki argued, her point entirely valid. If they let anything slip, it could spread across the internet. Though they didn’t know what Oriko would say, this worry was genuine.
”Well… I think it will be fine.” Shiina Oriko took a measured breath and then whispered.
”—I think I am frigid.”
It was a statement that, as a woman, she couldn’t enjoy sex.
”…Seriously, was that okay for us to hear?” Himari gulped, a bead of sweat visible on her forehead. It was the kind of sensitive, sexual topic that an actress should never discuss publicly.
”It’s alright. The problem I have isn’t with sex itself. It’s about my acting.”
”Shiina Oriko just said ‘sex’! SEX!” Himari exclaimed, unable to contain herself after hearing such a word come from a pure-image actress.
”Himari, quiet down!” Hibiki snapped, quickly silencing her.
”Until now, I’ve mostly avoided scenes that involve much physical contact, but I’ve finally been cast in a film that requires kissing and, well, those kinds of intimate scenes.”
”Congratulations,” the group offered, regardless of the work’s nature.
”Thank you. Honestly, I am confident in every other kind of acting. But I simply cannot understand the kind of intimacy required for a romance role. An old boyfriend once called me a ‘tuna fish’¹ because of it.”
”Did you love the person you were dating, by the way?” Hibiki questioned, a tiny hint of doubt in her voice.
”I’m not sure. He confessed to me, so I agreed to date him for the sake of gaining experience for my future acting roles.”
”I see… Oriko-san, while the frigidity might be part of it, I also think whether or not you love someone is crucial.”
”You think so… But for me, falling in love with a person isn’t easy. I can put on a mask and act the part, but I feel the performance will still be lacking.” Actors are supposed to completely immerse themselves in their roles. Some even let their roles affect their everyday lives. They prepare long before filming begins and stay in character for the actual shoot.
”If you truly want this, we can apply Hirose’s Gift, but it won’t fix your inability to fall in love.”
”But—it means that while the heart might be slow to follow, my body can be improved, right?” Oriko countered.
”Y-yes, that’s right.”
From Oriko’s words, it was clear she was already intensely interested in Hirose’s skill. However, they still needed to be clear with her.
”There will be a Recoil. And he will have to touch your body… do you have any objections?”
”Him, you say…” Oriko stared intently at Hirose. Mortified, Hirose hid his face with both hands.
”I cannot see your face.”
”Uh… please forgive me,” he mumbled.
”You are an interesting person. Most actors in this industry only try to flirt with me.”
”Compared to them, Hirose is the exact opposite type, wouldn’t you say?” Hibiki commented. They were used to a certain level of beauty among their group, but a genuine celebrity was a different matter entirely. Shiina Oriko truly had an aura—a celebrity’s unique glow.
”I accept. The touching, and the Recoil… Right now, the most important thing for me is fixing my acting. If this can move me even slightly closer to that future—”
Was this the soul of an actress? Hibiki and the others gasped, recognizing the burning light hidden deep within her expressionless eyes. It was the same kind of fierce resolve they had seen in Koharu or Kirino—the eyes of someone intensely focused on solving their personal pain.
They couldn’t stop her now.
”Hirose, can you do it?”
”Yeah… if Oriko-san wants it,” he responded.
”Then, it’s settled.”
And just like that, the procedure for Shiina Oriko’s ‘Sensitivity Improvement’ was decided.
*
—A week later.
Hirose and Kairi were together when Shiina Oriko and her manager arrived. After having to witness a very passionate kissing scene, Hirose finally managed to pull Kairi away, bringing the conversation back to the task at hand.
”You’re here to have your skill used on me—that was the agreement.” Today was the day to administer the procedure to Shiina Oriko.
The reason Kairi was necessary, however, was simple:
”As I explained before, I’ll use my Gift, ‘Pledge’, to create a non-disclosure agreement.”
”Of course. Manager, could you please step out?”
”Understood.” The suited manager left the room, leaving just the three of them. Due to the valuable nature of Hirose’s skill, which they had explained beforehand, they couldn’t risk having too many people know. That’s why Kairi’s Gift was needed to enforce the secrecy.
Oriko and Kairi sat across from each other at a table.
”You will not speak to anyone about Hirose’s Gift. The only time you can speak about it is when I, Hirose, Hibiki, Himari, Koharu, and Kirino are all present. In addition, even if the Recoil makes you want to assault Hirose, you will not attack him.”
The Recoil of Hirose’s skill was always a problem. Kairi’s Gift would likely ensure the procedure could be completed without Oriko attacking Hirose. Still, the resulting physical yearning would have to be managed by Oriko herself.
”Yes. I agree.” Just like with Aoi, a pale, bluish-white light glowed in Kairi’s right hand, which she then placed over Oriko’s hand to confirm her will.
”Then, I shall bind a ‘Pledge’ between Shiina Oriko-san and myself—”
The light surrounding their hands solidified. After the ‘Pledge’ was complete, the light vanished, breaking down into tiny particles.
”That’s it, we’re done!”
”Thank you. May we proceed with the treatment right away? I have a bed prepared.” The three of them stood up and left the room. They headed straight for the bedroom. This was, as it turned out, Shiina Oriko’s own apartment, a high-security tower mansion, befitting a celebrity.
The bedroom was simple, much like her. A single bed stood by the window.
”Well, I’m gonna step outside for a bit. The rest is up to you, Hirose.”
”Huh… you’re really just leaving?”
”I’ll only get in the way if I stay. I’ll head to a nearby café.”
”Oriko-san, aren’t you trusting me too much? I am a man, you know!”
”We could always add a ‘Pledge’ that you won’t touch me. But… I feel like I can trust you.”
”…Your manager is waiting in another room, right?”
”No, I asked her to leave just now.”
”Seriously?!” It meant he would be alone with a famous young actress he saw on TV for about an hour until the treatment was finished.
”See you later, Kairi-san.”
”Okay! I’m sure it’ll feel really good, but try your best to hold back on all the urges,” Kairi winked, throwing in a final, unnecessary comment before she left.
Left alone, Hirose nervously fidgeted. Oriko, meanwhile, began to slowly take off her clothes.
”Um, shouldn’t I be blindfolded or something?!”
”There’s no need for that. It would be a lie to say I’m not embarrassed, but… I trust you, Hirose-san.”
”Don’t trust me so much, please! This is too much pressure—” No matter what he said, Hirose couldn’t escape the treatment until it was done. Even if it meant seeing a beautiful actress naked.
Her clothes dropped to the floor with a soft whoosh, and she reached for her underwear. Her bra, then her panties….
”I do feel a bit shy, after all. You may look… but if you could avoid staring right at me.” Her face, suddenly full of color and expression, was the same lively face she sometimes showed on TV. Seeing this sudden burst of emotion, which had been absent until now, actually made Hirose feel a little relieved.
”Please come here. You can take off that jacket if you feel hot.”
”Alright—” Hirose took off his jacket, leaving him in just a T-shirt. He was led to the bed, and the naked Oriko lay down on her back.
She had fair, pale skin and a perfectly proportioned body. Her butt was small, but her chest was surprisingly large—something he hadn’t guessed while she was dressed. Hirose swallowed hard, his throat tight.
Once Hirose was ready, he moved closer to Oriko’s face.
”It’s a full-body procedure, from your head to your toes.”
”Yes. Please, begin.” She closed her eyes, completely surrendering her body to Hirose. Hirose concentrated and activated his skill.
”—Skill: ‘Sensitivity Improvement’.”
A soft, pale white light illuminated both of his hands.

1 ‘Maguro’ (マグロ) is a Japanese slang term meaning ‘tuna fish,’ often used to describe someone, usually a woman, who is physically unresponsive or passive (like a dead tuna) during sex. It’s a key piece of information for understanding Oriko’s frigidity. ↩
