”…Ah.” Hirose noticed a sudden, unfamiliar sensation running through his body. It wasn’t a bad feeling, though; rather, it was the periodic ‘reaction’ that signaled change.
”…I’ve learned it, huh?” Hirose had acquired a new skill. He mentally went over its details, already contemplating how he could best use it. Today was Monday, a regular school day. Furthermore, the members couldn’t sync up their schedules, so their usual meeting in the ‘Master Room’ was canceled.
”Well, I’ve got my own stuff to do anyway,” he mused. Hirose was actually part of a committee activity—or, more accurately, he’d been ‘forced’ into it. During the homeroom session to decide on committees, Himari’s cunning manipulation had caused him to carelessly raise his hand.
And by some twist of fate, he ended up in the Beautification Committee.
–Later that day, after school.
Because it was the start of the new school year, today’s activity involved tending to the school’s flowerbeds—planting new flowers in the vacant spaces and pulling out weeds. Under the Beautification Committee Chairperson’s direction, members from the first through third years split up to handle the tasks.
”Whew… Is this good enough? No, maybe it looks better facing this way.” For Hirose, who wasn’t used to much physical labor, squatting down to plant the flowers felt pretty heavy. Still, the Hirose of today could enjoy anything. It was all thanks to having obtained the ‘Beauty’ Gift and meeting girls like Hibiki.
Just then, a shadow fell unexpectedly, blocking his view.
”—Is it really that much fun, doing it so seriously, Senpai?” He turned around to find an unfamiliar girl standing there. The color of her gym clothes confirmed she was a first-year.
With long black hair that reached her chest and striking, sharp eyes that made her look a little cross, she seemed quite grumpy.
”Huh? Yeah, it’s fun. It’s my first time planting flowers, but it’s interesting how each one is different, you know?” Hirose replied candidly.
”Nobody else is working as hard as you, Senpai. …Look.” The girl motioned with her eyes toward the other committee members, who were complaining and working lazily.
”Well, I guess some people might find it annoying,” Hirose conceded.
”Then why do you look so happy, Senpai?” she pressed.
(Man, she’s full of questions…) Though he felt puzzled, Hirose answered honestly.
”Why, I wonder? Maybe because I enjoy my life now. I guess I have more peace of mind, or something.”
”Hmph. —You’re pretty carefree, for a man-whore.”
”Hah? Wh-What was that?!” That was a completely unacceptable word to hear spill from her mouth.
”I don’t know!” she insisted. With that, she quickly walked away from the spot.
”…What’s this all about…? Am I being labeled a ‘man-whore’ among the first-years?” It was true that he was involved with multiple women, but that was all sanctioned by his main girlfriend, Hibiki. To be simply called a ‘man-whore’ was genuinely offensive to Hirose.
After finishing his work, as the sun began to set in the evening sky, Hirose headed toward the wash area to clean the dirt from his hands and shoes.
”Ah-ha! Isn’t that Hirose-senpai!”
”Hm…?” When he turned toward the voice, he saw a familiar girl. Her long brown hair and bright, active look gave her a vibrant impression—she looked more grown up than she did a year ago, radiating the presence of a true beauty. This was Suzukawa Aoi, the girl whose request Hirose had once fulfilled by ‘making her chest bigger’.
”Aoi-chan. You worked hard.”
”I am hella tired! Like, the high school practice is way harder than middle school’s… Wait, what are you doing, Senpai?” Aoi wondered. ”In it, or rather, forced into it…” Every time he remembered, his grudge against Himari resurfaced. But then, recalling the sight of her being attacked by the tentacle-slime, his annoyance lessened a bit.
That’s when an idea struck Hirose, and he proposed to Aoi.
”Hey, Aoi-chan. Do you have a little time after this?”
”My club activities are done, so yeah, I have time… Are you going to jump me?!” she teased.
”No way. I just want to try something out. Everyone else’s schedule didn’t match up today,” Hirose denied, ignoring Aoi’s delighted expression.
”Are you sure about that?~”
”Aoi-chan, you always take the conversation in that direction when you talk to me… Anyway, is there anywhere we can be alone?”
”See! You are going to jump me!” she insisted, delighted.
”I told you I’m not!” Hirose protested.
It was undeniable that Hirose’s words weren’t very convincing and were causing a misunderstanding. Looking for a place to be alone and asking about her availability—given their current relationship, there was only one thing she could think of.
”…Well, yeah, I guess so. The clubroom might be empty. If you can wait a little until everyone changes, I can stay behind to get the key!”
”Is that okay? I feel bad for causing trouble.”
”Only for you, Hirose-senpai, would a cute girl like me do this!” she proudly declared.

”Aha, ha. Some people might forget their underwear or stuff, you know?” Aoi teased.
”Seriously?” He thought Aoi was joking, but he couldn’t completely rule out forgotten items like that.
”So, what are we going to do?~” she pressed, eager.
”Yeah. Actually, I learned a new skill. I wanted to try it out on you, Aoi-chan.”
”No way! I get to be the first one?! I’m hella happy!” Aoi rejoiced at Hirose’s words.
As Aoi spent more time with Hirose, she became well aware of how popular he was. Originally, she had only met Hibiki, but she had other chances to see him with other girls like Koharu, Kirino, and Asami, all beautiful girls surrounding him. Her impression was that he was ‘surrounded’—and, well, that was pretty accurate.
