Chapter 113 Black Mask
Edited by: Kanaa-senpai
Himeno stared, wide-eyed, at Kamen Papillon.
These guys can’t recognize each other because of the memory block. Don’t let it make you feel all fuzzy-brained.
”What’s that sound!?”
From the next-door dressing room, several figures moved in a panic, and the door burst open with a bang.
”What on earth is happening!?”
”Hidemi!?”
”Wait, there are 2 Kamen Papillons!?”
The girls who entered from the doorway stopped in their tracks, shocked by the room’s mess.
”Anyway, secure Tsuchimiya Takeru!”
As the girls moved, Kamen Papillon raised a whip from their waist and lashed out in a fluid motion.
SWIPE!
The whip struck one girl’s thigh mercilessly.
”Ouchieeee!?”
The girl stumbled, hopping in pain, while the others froze with pale faces.
Taking the chance, Kamen Papillon glanced over here.
”I’ll hold them off here! Morning Star, make sure you tie Tsuchimiya-kun securely to the rooftop fence with a rope! Escape with him now!”
”R, really!?”
”Yes! No evil can come from a lady in a butterfly mask! Tsuchimiya-kun is in good hands, Number Two!”
What kind of world’s logic is that!?
I know she’s Himeno, and that’s fine, but I can’t trust some guy I’ve known for ten seconds in a weird outfit with my life!
”O… okay, Number One! Leave Tsuchimiya-san to me! Be careful too!”
From the corridor, more girls were seen diving into the dressing room.
As I was lifted by Himeno, Kamen Papillon Number Two, the girls in the front line braced themselves, tightening their expressions and dropping into position.
But Number One, the butterfly, SLAPPED the whip against the floor to hold them back.
”Oops! Step any closer, and you’ll risk cutting your delicate skin on broken glass!”
”Ugh…”
Even the girls who had been ready to charge changed color and hesitated to move forward.
”No bare feet! Someone, bring me some shoes!!”
The girl was shouting, but when it comes to fighting, slippers just won’t cut it.
”Hold on tight, Tsuchimiya-san!”
I was in a princess carry by Number 2 Papillon, and the next thing I knew, we were zooming off with a scary speed. The scenery blurred past us. Then, I was flying out of the window.
We were on a pendulum ride with a iron ball, and my bladder felt funny as we shot up. The sky filled my vision.
But then, Number 2 Papillon let go of the chain and flipped around. The view changed, and I saw a neatly trimmed green courtyard.
”Whoa!?”
I clung to Number 2 Papillon as we were thrown into the air and fell head over heels.
My vision went dark, and I felt like I was floating. The gravity shifted up and down, and then I was in a bright, deserted alley.
One side had a tall wall, like the outer wall of a dormitory.
Number 2 Papillon gently laid me down on a leisure sheet.
”I have to go now. Help will come soon, so please wait here, Tsuchimiya-san. Goodbye!”
”O-ok… goodbye”
Number 2 Papillon dashed away into the alley, and after a while, a voice echoed from the other side.
”Tsuchimiya-senpai!”
Himeno came running from the main street.
”Why are you here!? I’m glad you’re safe!”
Himeno knelt and picked me up, all n*ked.
Maybe I should play dumb…
”Sorry… I got into a dangerous spot and was saved by Kamen Papillon”
”By Kamen Papillon!? I see! I’ll contact Asuka-chan right now!”
Himeno took out her smartphone and started calling Higurashi.
”Hello, Asuka-chan? I’ve secured Tsuchimiya-senpai. We’re at the west side of Building B girls’ dormitory.”
’What!? Got it, I’m heading there now!’
Just as I was refilling the Recovery Spring, Higurashi rushed over.
”Whoa! Asagiri-san, as expected! Did you manage to avoid those guys?”
”It’s fine. Actually, I came to find a way in, and Tsuchimiya-senpai was already lying here. He says Kamen Papillon helped him.”
”Hmph, figures. I tried to break in from the rooftop, but Kamen Papillon showed up and said Tsuchimiya-senpai was already safe.”
”Kamen Papillon… Who on earth could they be?”
I want to just blurt it out, but I’ll read the room and keep quiet.
I’ve already seen the prophecy where Higurashi reveals their identity. That scene must be the climax for them.
It’s a bit frustrating, but I’ll let Higurashi have their fun.
Still, it seems they knew I was kidnapped. How did they sniff us out so fast?
While I was thinking, my clothes started falling off my head. Looked like my pants and shirt.
Tina must’ve taken them out of the ‘Storage’ case.
I still couldn’t stand up, so Himeno helped me put on the pants and shirt. The shirt had ‘Water Corpse’ printed on it.
”Anyway, let’s get out of here. Asagiri-san, can you carry Tsuchimiya-senpai?”
”Got it.”
I started moving, being carried by Himeno.
Then Higurashi, leading the way, seemed to start a call with Maekawa-san.
”Maekawa-senpai, it’s me. We’ve safely got Tsuchimiya-senpai. …… Yeah. So, I’m sorry, but could everyone pretend to look for Tsuchimiya-senpai for about an hour? …… Yeah. … Thanks, this helps a lot.”
Then we took a quiet path to the back of the student dorms, entered the forest, and went into a narrow park.
There, Himeno and I teleported directly inside the girls’ dormitory, using Darkness Transition.
By the time we reached Maekawa-san’s room, the sun was nearly down.
* * *
”This… you’ve gone quite far with the show.”
Togamine Hatsune looked at the wrecked bathroom, biting her lip hard.
By the time they surrounded the 6 Sand Monsters and smashed their cores, Tsuchimiya Takeru was already taken away.
She had received a detailed report on everything before coming here.
”So… no Takeru’s followers were among the culprits?”
Togamine checked with first-year student Hidemi Shimura, who had hurried to the scene in her gown.
”Yes. I saw a black Kamen Papillon. I recognize the follower’s face, but it wasn’t anyone I know.”
Hidemi clenched her stomach, still sore, grimacing.
Because of the memory block, no one could connect the black Kamen Papillon to Himeno Asagiri, even if they looked at photos side-by-side.
”Later, that red Kamen Papillon burst in through the window and took Takeru. Both of them escaped out the window.”
Togamine subconsciously bit her nails, stunned by an unexpected turn.
”What now, Hatsune? We have no proof anyway. Should we just accuse Takeru’s followers──who got mad over his cheating──and say they attacked the room?”
Togamine shook her head at Hidemi’s suggestion.
”No. It’s worse that they called the black Kamen Papillon. That could backfire on us. We have to watch and see how Takeru and Kamen Papillon will show themselves.”
She wanted to enslave Tsuchimiya Takeru by her own will, so she meticulously planned to drive him into a corner and separate him from Amahara-senpai.
But Tsuchimiya Takeru slipped away through a route she never expected. All her prepared strategies ended up in vain, like bubbles in water.
Being outwitted so cleanly, she can’t help but doubt if this isn’t some strategy that’s read all her thoughts.
When she thinks that far, the face of a cunning woman popped into Togamine’s mind.
”Higurashi Asuka… No, it can’t be…”
Shaking her head, Togamine dismissed the eerie thought.
