Chapter 78 Late Night At Room ♯

Edited by: Kanaa-senpai

[Part 1/2]

In the dimly lit living room on the top floor where the lights had been turned off, a shadow as big as a mountain stirred restlessly.

Kibakura Reiji sat on the sofa with the window wide open, the moonlight shining on Greyvalor Mountain, gleaming like silver, as he gulped down a glass bottle of liquor.

His right hand, holding a surprisingly small bottle of liquor, was wrapped in bandages, blood seeping through. While his wounds had miraculously healed on their own, it would take until tomorrow for this one to close up.

Healing wounds always made him ravenously hungry. Luckily, on the 3rd floor, there were Monsters dropping meat blocks, so he wasn’t lacking in food. He had just finished devouring the 10-kilogram meat his subordinate had prepared.

Well, he wasn’t exactly not lacking. He was struggling to resist the urge to sink his teeth into the raw meat. In the dungeon, the urge to attack and the hunger combined, sometimes leading him to pounce on Monsters and kill them. As his level increased and his body grew larger, the urge became stronger.

”Well, can’t help it… but, the alcohol tastes good after a long time.”

Kibakura muttered and took another sip of his drink.

”You seem to be in a good mood today.”

Suddenly, a clear voice, like the sound of a rolling bell, echoed.

Kibakura clicked his tongue and looked towards the back of the room.

Emerging from the darkness at the back of the kitchen was a schoolgirl in uniform, Shizuka.

”Shizuka… you are always sneaking in from anywhere when the lights are off. Go away. You’re ruining the taste of my drink.”

Behind large round glasses, Shitone Shizuka, with an artificial gentle smile, silently approached.

”Wow, that’s quite a lot. Even though it feels like we could have a good conversation after a long time. There aren’t many people who talk to me normally besides Kibakura-kun. Isn’t that right, Kibakura-kun?”

Shizuka smiled faintly as she sat down on the sofa in front of Kibakura, crossing her legs.

”Hey, stop it. Don’t emit that smell. I’ll crush you.”

Kibakura growled menacingly. Soon, a sweet smell filled the room, and blood began to rush to his lower body.

”Why? I could accept you as you are now.”

”I won’t give you any mercy. This is my power.”

As Kibakura’s eyes filled with killing intent, the smell dissipated.

”Before you came into this world, Kibakura-kun was the only one who didn’t embrace me. Why?”

That’s a story from before coming to this world. Kibakura replied with a deep voice while glaring at Shizuka.

”…We were just a bunch of troublemakers everywhere. But things got weird since you came. We tasted the finest woman and lost control. Doi was just a coward with a small mind. You’re the one who instigated him to rape that girl, right?”

”Doi-kun was also interested. Hinasaka-san, who made the boys around her rape me in middle school. I was curious about what would happen to her if she experienced the same thing, but I’m disappointed that she quit school after just one time.”

Shizuka spoke calmly with a soft smile.

”I mean, I’m just giving back what I can offer in return for being protected. It might have been fun to watch men fall for me and drown in me.”

”Thanks to that, someone got arrested and the rugby team is suspended indefinitely.”

”I couldn’t stand it anymore because the strong kids monopolized me. Is that my fault?”

”You’re toxic. It’s my fault for not seeing through you from the beginning.”

Kibakura frowned and took a sip of alcohol.

”Let’s talk about something more fun. Why did you stop just before violating Amahara-san today? I wanted to see that privileged girl being messed up by you.”

”Some idiot got in the way, and I don’t care about that anymore. I feel like drinking alone today. Get out.”

Kibakura looked down with pressure, but Shizuka seemed unfazed.

”Are you in a good mood then? You let yourself get hurt and left without retaliating. I didn’t think you still had that much rationality left.”

Kibakura glanced at the blood-stained bandage. At that moment of pain, it felt like his vision cleared up instantly. The impulse to dominate his thoughts, the feeling of hunger that was trying to control him, disappeared as if it were a lie. It was as if it had been sucked away.

”I’m the type who stays calm when I see someone crazier than myself. Unifying the school is the job of my subordinates. Instead of wasting time on boring things, diving in and leveling up takes priority.”

”Do you really need that much power? You seem to be losing your humanity more and more. You’re desperate to control your impulses at night. Lately, I haven’t even felt like getting close to you.”

”It’s not that big of a deal. I can suppress it with determination. I just need power to break through this cage. Even if all the dorm managers team up, they won’t stand a chance against overwhelming power.”

”Did you really think about that? I thought you were smarter. The other side is a country. No, it might even turn the whole world against you. Well, do as you please. What are you planning to do after leaving here?”

”Well… maybe I’ll start my own country.”

”You’re not seriously planning to take everyone with you, are you? I doubt it will go very well.”

”Do you know? So many schools have been summoned to this world. But only one person has reached the deepest part of the target dungeon. We’ll all end up dead or ensl*ved.”

”Kibakura-kun… where did you hear that story from?”

 ”…”

Kibakura didn’t answer the question and took a sip of his drink.

The party that started early ended at 9:30. There’s class tomorrow, and Maekawa-san and the others still have fun work to do to make my room more livable.

The pile of dishes was quickly cleaned up with Maekawa-san’s cleaning magic. Pre-treating with detergent seems to make grease stains come off easily. Life magic that isn’t sealed within the school is convenient for everyday use, not just in combat. I’d like to learn it too if possible.

Higurashi and Kanon returned to their own rooms, while Himeno, and I, returned to the special room in the boys’ dorm.

 ”Hehe, Tsuchimiya senpai♪”

As we left the girls’ dorm, Himeno, who was clearly tipsy, happily clung to my arm and acted spoiled.

”Are you okay, Himeno? You seem pretty drunk.”

”I’m fine. I’m not drunk at all.”

Himeno giggled and hugged my arm tightly.

After that, Himeno noticed Maekawa-san and the others secretly drinking white wine, so she cleverly found it and asked for a share.

While Maekawa-san and the others just poured a little into their glasses, Himeno eagerly drank it all and kept asking for more, throwing a tantrum each time. Eventually, she was given alcohol-free champagne-like juice without realizing it, and she was completely satisfied. Hopefully, she won’t get a hangover.

The path illuminated by the outdoor lights had the tennis club’s clubhouse building on the left, separated by wire mesh, and an open space with well-maintained grass on the right. Beyond the grass, trees and bushes were sparsely planted in front of the wire mesh, and beyond that was the junior high school grounds, now turned into a deep forest.

 ”Hmm?”

I sense something near the T-shaped intersection ahead. Multiple breaths suppressed in the tense air. There are at least three people.

”There are six people hiding. Is this an ambush? Leave it to me. I won’t let Tsuchimiya-senpai be touched!”

As Himeno staggered forward, I hurriedly held her shoulder and stopped her.

”Let’s run away because it’s troublesome. We’re in a good mood, after all.”

 ”Yes! As Tsuchimiya-senpai commands!”

If she’s not useful in her current state, I’d rather not be presented with a severed head with a smile, like hunting goblins mercilessly.

I’ve decided not to trust at all when my stepmother comes home drunk saying, “I’m totally fine♪.”

Then, six male students emerged one by one from the bushes at the corner of the T-shaped intersection under the outdoor lights.

”Hey, you think you can escape?”

 ”You’re Tsuchimiya Takeru, right?”

”You’re showing off! We’ll beat you up and take Asagiri Himeno too!”

The boys all wore black eye-catching hats, making it impossible to see their faces. I guess wearing masks is the basic gear in times like these. I should follow suit too.

It’s a shame I have no interest in their faces, so whether they wear masks or not doesn’t matter to me.

 ”Kyaa♪ Tsuchimiya-senpai, so scary♪”

 Himeno happily clung onto me.

 ”Don’t underestimate me!”

 ”I’ll kill you!”

Men armed with wooden swords and batons rushed towards us.

With my enhanced abilities from the Title, I’m confident I can move faster in close combat than these guys, but when it comes to a race, Evold surpasses me in both speed and endurance. Therefore, I have no intention of running away directly.

 ”Himeno, hold on tight.”

 ”Yes!”

I lifted Himeno, lowered my hips, and activated a blast.

 ”Whoa!?”

 ”W-What!?”

 ”Did he just fly!?”

I jumped in front of the men with Himeno in my arms, leaping twice more consecutively in mid-air.

Rising to a height similar to a street lamp, I looked down at the men lined up like pond fish gazing up at us.

Himeno clung to me, happily kicking her legs.

Leaning forward, I swiftly activated blasts to move through the air as if kicking off.

 ”Wait for me!”

”Darn it! Don’t let them escape!”

Although I had decent speed, the men’s reactions were quick, and due to my inexperience and inability to go all out, I couldn’t just leave Evold behind in an instant.

As the boys’ dormitory approached, I noticed a man standing with his arms crossed at the gate.

Lowering my altitude, I landed with a slide beside the man and turned back.

 ”Gil-san!”

Gil-san smiled slyly at us while facing forward.

The men stopped in their tracks and stomped their feet when they saw Gil-san.

 ”The dorm manager, huh!”

”Darn it! What should we do!?”

”Hey, kids. From here on, I make the rules. If you mess with my players, it won’t end well for you.”

Gil-san, dressed in a black military uniform with a black cape, didn’t have any weapons. Then, one of the boys pulled out a scroll tucked into his belt.

 ”Fireball!”

An orange fireball flew towards Gil-san, but halfway there, it twisted and shattered as if it had been launched from below, then disappeared.

 That was a chantless blast!

Its power is incomparable to mine. While Blast is a short-range magic, if shot horizontally, it should have had enough power to blow away the men at a distance.

”Hey, if you want to make me move, you better have something like Hellflame.”

 ”It’s no use after all!”

 ”Retreat!”

The boys turned on their heels and ran away.

How reliable! It felt like the first time I saw Gil-san doing his job as a dorm manager.

 ”Manager! You’re amazing♪”

”Yeah, protecting the players is the manager’s duty.”

I wonder if I, as a resident student, am considered a player.

”Manager, here’s a treat. We made it with the senpais!”

Himeno took out karaage, mapo tofu, and white rice from a disposable lunch box in the Storage Bag and offered it to Gil-san.

”Oh, how considerate of you. Looks perfect as a snack with some booze. Thanks, Asagiri.”

Gil-san looked happy as he received the lunchbox.

”Yes! Manager, do your best at work♪”

After this, Gil-san’s job is probably going to be reading manga while drinking alcohol.

Once we entered the boys’ dormitory, we took the elevator to our rooms.

”Dimple Key seems pretty difficult. I need to practice properly.”

As I unlocked the front door, Himeno said something unsettling. Let’s pretend I didn’t hear that.

Upon entering the living room, besides setting up the usual bed behind the sofa, the room was completely untouched.

I made Himeno sit at the dining table and poured water from a bottle into a glass I took from the cupboard.

 ”Thank you.”

After handing Himeno the glass, I put the bottle in the large refrigerator. I could just put it in the dimensional ‘Storage,’ but having an empty fridge makes me uneasy. I also tossed in some juice that hadn’t cooled yet.

I sat down next to Himeno, who was drinking water in small sips.

”Today was really fun! I even got to study cooking!”

”Yeah, I had fun too. This kind of thing isn’t bad.”

I had never experienced gathering with a large group and making noise before. I knew such customs existed in society, but I thought they were events unrelated to me and had no interest in them. However, seeing people I like having fun together makes me happy too.

Maybe everyone was feeling this way. I feel like I understand the feeling of partying a little bit.

Himeno seems to be in a good mood and might end up falling asleep drunk. It feels like today will end peacefully.

”By the way, I used to talk a lot with Tsuchimiya-senpai, right?”

 It was just my imagination.

Himeno narrowed her eyes and smiled lasciviously.

Calm down. Keep a cool head at times like this. I have a plan.

”Yeah… I also wanted to talk to Himeno slowly.”

 ”Tsuchimiya-senpai?”

Himeno widened her eyes in surprise.

”We’ve only been dating for a week, and we haven’t had a chance to talk calmly together. I want to know more about Himeno, and I want Himeno to know about me. I talked a lot with Higurashi in the dungeon, so I think she knows me better.”

”Y-yes! I also want to know about you, Tsuchimiya-senpai, and I want you to know about me! I was curious that Asuka-chan knows things about Tsuchimiya-senpai that I don’t. But when we’re alone, I can’t control my impulses, and I end up… I want to chat a lot with Tsuchimiya-senpai today!”

 Alright! Secure the survival route!

”Ah… but I’m not confident I can control my impulses. I want to push you down right now…! Please wait a moment!”

Himeno took out a small handbag from her storage bag and placed it on the table.

”There are handcuffs and ropes inside. Please restrain me with them!”

Himeno sat on a chair and crossed her hands behind the backrest.

 ”O-okay…”

 Why does she have handcuffs?
