Chapter 89 Godmother

Yuzuki and Emilia arrived on Christmas Eve. Last year, we had invited Mitsuhiko and Kotoha-chan, but this year, the four of us spent the holiday together. It had been quite some time since our last group gathering.
”Hiro-kun, are things going well at college? You aren’t being a loner, are you?” Yuzuki asked.
”Hirokazu-san is actually quite the heartthrob at university,” Manami chimed in. “He’s always surrounded by adorable girls.”
”Manami, you must be worried then,” Yuzuki replied.
”Manami-san visited Hiro-san’s campus, didn’t she?” Emilia asked.
”If they actually met Manami, I bet they’d all run away in fear,” Yuzuki joked.
”I’m not so sure about that, but everyone there seemed like good people, so I felt relieved,” Manami said.
”The Kato-san we met when we went to cheer for Micchan had such a serious, refined air about her,” Yuzuki noted.
A lot had happened with that Kato-san and Fujita-san, so I was immensely relieved that Manami hadn’t caught on.
We enjoyed the meal Manami had prepared while catching up on each other’s recent news.
”It’s really impressive that Emilia is a scholarship student at university,” Yuzuki said.
”It’s all thanks to Hiro-san,” Emilia replied. “But I’m slated to move to Kyoto¹ come April, so I’m already feeling lonely.”
”It’s not as if this is the end of everything,” Manami assured her.
”Emilia, until then, you should feel free to spoil Hirokazu-san as muuuuuch as you want,” Yuzuki encouraged.
”Wait, is every day really okay?” Emilia asked.
”Hirokazu-san always gets home late, though,” Manami pointed out.
”Oh, right…”
”Emilia, you can have him dote on you as much as you like. You have my permission,” Manami said.
”OK, BOSS!” Emilia chirped.
”Boss? What’s that supposed to mean?” Manami asked.
”If Manami-san weren’t here, Yuzuki-san and I wouldn’t even be able to be here right now. To me, Manami-san is the Boss,” Emilia explained.
”Manami might very well be the Boss. But ‘Boss’ has such a masculine ring to it; maybe ‘Madame’ would be more fitting,” Yuzuki suggested.
”Cut out the weird titles!” Manami pouted.
”Manami-san, can I ask a favor?” Emilia asked.
”If it’s within my power, sure,” Manami replied.
”Umm… this is a bit awkward to bring up, but… before I move away, I’d like for the three of us to be pampered by Hiro-san together…”
”You mean a threesome? That might be a great way to solidify our bond. I’m all for it!” Yuzuki exclaimed.
The conversation was progressing entirely without me… Did my own will even factor into this?
”Even Yuzuki is on board… Fine then. We’ll have Hirokazu-san finish inside all of us,” Manami decided.
”But what if we end up with a baby…” Emilia worried.
”I’m on the Birth Control Pill², so it’ll be fine,” Manami stated.
”I’m taking it as well,” Emilia added.
I knew Yuzuki took them because her periods were so heavy they interfered with her track and field performance, but I hadn’t realized Emilia was on them too.
”There were side effects and Hirokazu-san told me to stop, so…” Manami began.
”In that case, let’s schedule it for Manami’s safe day right before Emilia moves out,” Yuzuki proposed.
”Manami-san, Yuzuki-san, thank you so much. This will be the best memory ever,” Emilia said.
”Shall we have him finish once in our ‘places’ and once in our mouths? That would be six times in total,” Yuzuki suggested.
””Agreed!”” the two girls said in unison.
”Wait just a minute. Don’t go settling things without me,” I interjected.
”I’ll make sure to cook plenty of stamina-boosting meals for Hirokazu-san leading up to it, so you don’t need to worry at all,” Manami said.
”Oh! My senior was mentioning a really potent energy supplement the other day. I’ll go buy some!” Yuzuki added.
Even so, I never dreamed the three of them would have a conversation like this. Given how much Yuzuki and Emilia looked up to Manami, Emilia’s bold proposal caught me completely off guard.

On the 27th, after the Christmas festivities had concluded, I received word from Fujita-san. She had caught a cold and was bedridden with a fever.
”Fujita-san lives by herself, doesn’t she? I’m sure she feels lonely and vulnerable, so why don’t you go check on her?” Manami suggested.
While I suspected she might be plotting something, I decided to go, thinking it would be bad if she was truly ill. To be safe, I contacted Takahashi-san; it turned out the news was true. Takahashi-san had visited her yesterday but had to head back to her parents’ home today, leaving her unable to go back. Kato-san and Miura-san apparently had prior engagements they couldn’t miss, though they intended to check in on her tomorrow.
After confirming the location of Fujita-san’s apartment with Takahashi-san, I picked up some supplies on the way and headed over.
”Hirokazu-kun… I’m sorry you had to come all this way,” Fujita-san said.
When I arrived, Fujita-san was wearing a mask, her face flushed red with fever.
”Never mind that. Have you seen a doctor?” I asked.
”I can’t even move… I couldn’t go if I wanted to,” she replied.
”Then you definitely need to go and get an injection or an IV drip. It’ll help you recover faster,” I said.
”Maybe if I could get an ‘injection’ from Hirokazu-kun’s staff, I’d get better right away,” she joked weakly.
”If you’re still well enough to crack jokes, I suppose you’ll be fine,” I replied.
”I want to go, but my whole body is drenched in sweat… it’s embarrassing,” she confessed.
”This isn’t the time to worry about that, is it?” I chided.
I went to the kitchen, filled a basin with warm water, and returned.
”Have you eaten anything?” I asked.
”Yuri came by yesterday and made some porridge, but I haven’t had a thing since then,” she said.
”I’ll make some more porridge while you wipe yourself down. I’m going to borrow the kitchen for a bit,” I said.
”Wait, aren’t you going to wipe me down, Hirokazu-kun?” she teased.
”Do it yourself,” I shot back.
”Cheapskate…” she muttered.
Ignoring Fujita-san, I went to the kitchen to prepare the egg porridge Manami had taught me before I left. Apparently, the secret was using Japanese dashi and ginger. I also grated an apple and brought it back with me.
”Once you eat this, we’re heading to the clinic,” I stated.
”Say aaahn…” she requested.
”Don’t be a baby,” I said.
”Can’t I at least act spoiled when I’m sick?” she pouted.
”You aren’t a child anymore, are you?” I countered.
”Honestly, Hirokazu is such a stingy guy,” she sighed.
”That’s not what this is about. Careful, it’s hot,” I warned.
Fujita-san ate the porridge with a slightly huffy expression.
”This is even better than Yuri’s. Is there anything you can’t do, Hirokazu-kun?” she asked.
”It’s just Manami’s recipe. Though I do cook occasionally and keep up with the other housework,” I explained.
”You’re like the ideal husband,” she remarked.
While Fujita-san finished her meal, I looked up a nearby internist and called for a taxi.
At the doctor’s office, we were told it wasn’t the flu but a standard cold. She was given an IV drip and some medication before we returned home.
By the time we got back, it was past 6:00 PM. I made another batch of porridge and served it to Fujita-san along with a banana.
”I bought some yogurt, apples, and bananas for you. Eat them whenever you feel hungry,” I told her.
”Thank you. You really are reliable, Hirokazu-kun. Can I count on you to spoil me again sometime?” she asked.
”That depends on the circumstances,” I replied.
”Give me a smooch before you go,” she requested.
”I don’t want to catch your cold. Maybe next time,” I said.
”You said ‘next time’! I’ll be looking forward to it♪” she chirped.
She seemed significantly more energetic than when I first arrived, so I felt safe enough to head home.
The following day, I received an email saying her fever had broken and she would be heading back to her hometown the next morning. Just to be sure, I checked in with Kato-san and Miura-san, who confirmed she was doing fine. Kato-san added a postscript: ‘I want you to give him a proper education.’ Meanwhile, Miura-san’s note read: ‘Will you come nurse me back to health too if I catch a cold?’
