Chapter 93 Companions in Desire
Edited by: Kanaa-senpai
The final exams of the second semester concluded without any major issues. Although some of the material deviated slightly from the intel Katayama-san provided, I managed to pull through.
Just like we did after the first semester finals, we decided to hold a celebration at a karaoke box. Back during the Bonenkai², Masashi-san had ordered a Chuhai¹ that Takahashi-san ended up drinking, which led to her getting completely wasted. Because of that, we’d explicitly banned ordering alcohol this time. However, Masashi-san went ahead and ordered a Chuhai anyway, resulting in the girls exiling him from the table. Seeing him cast out, Miura-san slid over to sit next to Masashi-san, and the two began whispering conspiratorially.
”Attention, everyone! I have an announcement to make!” Miura-san suddenly called out.
”Masashi-san and I are officially dating.”
”Wait, really?” I asked.
”Inamori-kun, you seriously didn’t notice?” Kato-san asked, sounding skeptical.
”Anna was practically glued to Masashi-san’s side during the Bonenkai too, remember?” Fujita-san added.
”I had a sneaking suspicion the moment Miura-san joined the Court Hearing Mania Circle³. I mean, the two of them were going off to attend hearings alone all the time,” Hirose remarked.
The Court Hearing Mania Circle was a club Masashi-san had started, and I’d been under the impression that Hirose-kun was the only other member. I had no idea Miura-san had even joined.
”Wait, so Naoya and I are the only ones left without girlfriends?” Shota asked, looking dejected.
”Sorry, Shota. I’ve actually got a girlfriend I’ve been with since high school,” Naoya replied.
”Whaaaaaaaaat?!”
”Sasaki-kun, you’re so unfortunate!” the girls teased in unison.
”Hey, I went to an all-boys high school! Give me a break!” Shota protested.
”We were in an all-boys junior and senior high, so that’s not much of an excuse, zo,” Masashi-san countered.
”It might be better if you just stop talking; you’re only making yourself look more pathetic,” Takahashi-san added with a smirk.
”Takahashi-san, you don’t have a boyfriend either, right?” Shota shot back.
”I’ll have you know my big brother is my boyfriend!” she declared proudly.
”And Fujita-san, you broke up with your guy, didn’t you?”
”Hirokazu-kun! Shota-kun is being a bully!” Mayu cried out. She had recently made it a point to call the boys by their first names to ensure she didn’t trip up and use the wrong ones.
”Shota, even if it’s the truth, there are some things you just don’t say…” I said, trying to mediate.
”Yuri! Hirokazu-kun is bullying me too!” Mayu whined.
”There, there…”
”Anyway, Mayu, what do you think of Sasaki-kun?” Kato-san asked curiously.
”Well, as a friend, he’s totally fine, but as a boyfriend? He seems a little unreliable, I guess,” Mayu admitted.
”Shota’s HP has plummeted to 50! (lol),” Masashi-san jeered.
”And what about Yuri?”
”Compared to my brother? He’s a total failure!” Takahashi-san said, crossing her hands in a firm ‘X’ gesture in front of her face.
”Shota’s HP has hit 0! (K.O.)!” Hirose shouted.
”What a miserable day!” Shota lamented.
Among this group, Shota was rapidly solidifying his role as the designated punching bag.

Three days after the post-exam celebration, I invited Mayu over to my place. While Mayu had met Manami before, she had yet to meet Yuzuki or Emilia. The primary goal for today was to get everyone acquainted.
Shortly before noon, I drove to the station to pick up Yuzuki, Emilia, and Mayu. While I was out, Manami stayed behind to handle the cooking. I picked up a cake for dessert on the way back, and we all gathered at the house.
”Wow! Manami-san, did you really make all of this yourself? Everything is so delicious! Since I’m living on my own now, you have to teach me your secrets sometime,” Mayu exclaimed, clearly impressed.
”I’ll send you the recipes. Hirokazu-san is actually quite a decent cook himself, though the presentation usually leaves something to be desired… (lol),” Manami replied with a playful wink.
”The porridge he made for me when I was sick with a cold was wonderful,” Mayu shared.
”Wait, you’ve actually eaten Hiro-kun’s cooking? I’m so jealous!” Yuzuki remarked.
”I’m pretty sure porridge barely even qualifies as ‘cooking,’ but…” I muttered, feeling a bit embarrassed.
”The fact that Hiro-kun was the one who made it is what matters!” Mayu insisted.
”I would very much like to sample Hiro-san’s cooking before I depart for Kyoto, desu,” Emilia chimed in.
”Wait, is Emilia-san moving to Kyoto?” Mayu asked.
”Yes. I will be attending a university there as a scholarship student. To be honest, the thought of being separated from Hiro-san makes me quite lonely, but Hiro-san was the one who gave me the courage to move forward, desu.”
”My family home is actually in Kyoto, so we can definitely hang out when I go back for the holidays!” Mayu offered warmly.
”I don’t know a soul there, so please, I would be honored if you would show me around,” Emilia replied.
”Hirokazu-san, since we’re all here, shouldn’t we ask Mayu for a favor regarding Yuina-chan too?” Manami suggested.
”Oh, so it’s officially decided that Yuina-chan is coming here?” Mayu asked.
”Hiro-kun, is the household growing again?” Yuzuki questioned.
”She’s the daughter of my late mother’s cousin. She’s starting vocational school here in April and is currently hunting for an apartment. She’s moving here all by herself from a remote area deep in the mountains, so she’s naturally feeling a bit anxious about the change,” I explained.
”If Manami-san is the one asking, of course I’ll help! Oh! Actually, there might be a vacancy coming up in the apartment complex where I live. Should I check with the management company for you?” Mayu proposed.
The location would certainly make her commute easy, and having Mayu nearby would be a huge relief. When I passed the word along to Yoshimi-san that a spot might be opening up in a friend’s building, she immediately asked me to put a hold on it. I relayed this to Mayu, who contacted the real estate agent on the spot.
”It looks like a unit one floor above mine will be available in March, so I’ve secured it. The security there is top-notch, though, so the rent is a bit on the high side,” Mayu reported.
”They run a traditional inn that’s been in business for a hundred years, so I’m sure the cost won’t be an issue,” I assured her.
I sent an update to Yoshimi-san, and she replied saying she’d head over with Yuina-chan as soon as the apartment was ready for move-in.
After that, the four girls spent the afternoon chatting about all sorts of things. When Mayu finally heard the full story of how I’d met the three of them, she was left momentarily speechless.
”Just like your name implies, you really are a hero. But I seriously can’t believe you used to be a total ‘botchi’ (loner)…” Mayu said, her voice trailing off in disbelief.
”It might actually be my fault that he withdrew from everyone. But Manami-san and Micchan were the ones who finally saved him,” Yuzuki noted.
”Wait, who’s Micchan?” Mayu asked.
”He’s Hirokazu-san’s childhood friend. Besides, the neighbors around here are always looking out for Hirokazu-san, so every day is a lot of fun,” Manami explained.
”And thanks to Hiro-san, Micchan actually managed to get a girlfriend, so he probably owes him big time now. I have to listen to Saki gush about how lovey-dovey they are every single day. It’s gotten to the point where Asami is saying she’s desperate for a boyfriend of her own. Maybe I should just recruit Asami into H&SH⁴ in my place! (lol),” Yuzuki joked.
”H&SH? What’s that? It sounds like a brand of shampoo,” Mayu remarked, tilting her head.
”It’s short for Hirokazu & Sweethearts. It basically refers to Hiro-kun and his partners. Emilia was the one who came up with the name, right?” Manami said.
”I originally suggested ‘Lovers,’ but Manami-san pointed out that the term can sometimes imply things like ‘mistress’ or ‘extracurricular’ interests, so she said it wasn’t appropriate and changed it, desu,” Emilia explained.
”Well, it’s because Yuzuki and Emilia aren’t just ‘mistresses,’” Manami added firmly.
”I finally get what that group chat name means now. Still, Manami-san, your consideration for everyone is really something else,” Mayu said.
”I’m just following the example Hirokazu-san sets…” Manami replied humbly.
”Oh! That reminds me. Mayu, has Hiro-kun ever pressed his seed deep inside you yet?” Yuzuki suddenly blurted out.
”Wait—what?! We’ve only done it once, and back then, he finished on the outside…” Mayu stammered, her face turning bright red.
”Hirokazu-san! Why on earth weren’t you using a condom? If she ends up pregnant while she’s still a student, think of how hard it would be for Mayu!” Manami scolded me.
I raised a hand to quiet Mayu before she could try to defend me.
”I’m sorry. I’ll be more careful from now on. Though, Manami, I thought you were just worried about someone else having a baby before you did…” I teased gently.
”Well, there is that too… But Hirokazu-san, you promised you wouldn’t have a baby until after graduation, right? Even though I’m ready for it whenever you are,” Manami pouted.
”Manami is terrifying when she’s genuinely mad, isn’t she?” Yuzuki teased.
”Honestly… Yuzuki!”
”Anyway, since Emilia is moving to Kyoto, we’ve booked a lakeside condominium for next month. The plan is for everyone to have him press deep inside them once, and for everyone to gulp down his gift once. Do you want to join us?” Yuzuki asked casually.
”Hold on a second! If we do that, does that mean I have to go eight times? That’s physically impossible! Plus, we have to make sure it’s a safe day for Mayu, or else it’s a no-go,” I interjected, panic rising in my voice.
When Yuzuki checked the dates, Mayu spoke up tentatively.
”If my cycle stays on track, it should be just barely okay. But… are you sure it’s really alright for me to come along?” Mayu asked, looking both anxious and hopeful.
”It’s perfectly fine! Hirokazu-san is the one sponsoring the trip, and Mayu, you’re already one of us, so don’t even worry about it. Hirokazu-san, one press each, and if only Emilia does the swallow, that’s one less for you to worry about, so you’ll be fine, right?” Manami said, giving me a stern look.
”Yes… I’ll give it my all,” I replied, feeling a cold sweat break out.

Summary:
Following the completion of second semester exams, Hirokazu and his university friends celebrate at karaoke where relationship revelations come to light. Later, Hirokazu hosts a meeting at his home to introduce Mayu to his other partners, Yuzuki and Emilia. The group discusses the arrival of a new resident, Yuina, and coordinates housing for her. The chapter concludes with the harem planning an intensive sexual retreat at a lakeside condominium.
—
Character Insight:
Manami’s role as the ‘matriarch’ of the household is further established as she balances household management with moral oversight, such as scolding Hirokazu for his lack of contraception. Yuzuki continues to act as the primary instigator of explicit discussions, pushing the boundaries of the group’s sexual dynamic by inviting Mayu into their upcoming retreat. Mayu’s integration into the ‘H&SH’ group is finalized as she moves from a simple girlfriend to a recognized member of Hirokazu’s inner circle.
—
Behind the Scene:
The transition from a ‘lone wolf’ to a ‘harem lead’ is a core theme here, with the characters themselves commenting on the change. The author uses the ‘H&SH’ acronym to give the polyamorous arrangement a sense of identity and legitimacy within the story’s world.
