After a fleeting moment of shock, Amano Yuuma quickly found her composure.
Back in that bizarre dimension, Aki’s aura had once made her believe he’d succeeded; now that over half a month had passed, it didn’t seem so strange that he’d officially reached S-Rank².
”Yeah, the Martial Way³ hit the Breakthrough point, but I’m still a bit short on the Mana⁴ side.”
Now that he was S-Rank, Aki finally understood the true distinction between Mana and the Martial Way.

That was the primary reason he needed the “Boosted Gear⁷” of the Welsh Dragon.
Going toe-to-toe against legendary weapons with just his bare flesh—even with his toughest wings and tail—was still a losing game.
If he could obtain the Boosted Gear, ideally mastering the full-body armor form, it would be a massive boost to Aki’s strength even without any other power-ups.

Yuuma’s expression chilled instantly.
”Since the higher-ups labeled it as ‘Dangerous,’ how could I possibly hand it over to a hostile Stray Devil like you?”
Aki didn’t take it to heart; if things really turned sour, it wouldn’t be difficult to use his strength to forcibly restrain her.
”Yuuma-chan, why don’t you just join us instead? Fallen Angels can ‘Reincarnate’ into Stray Devils too, you know.”
Yuuma instinctively wanted to refuse, but feeling the heat still inside her—and seeing Mittelt and Kalawarner already entangled with Aki—she couldn’t find the words.
Aki let out a low grunt of exertion.
After a moment, he moved Mittelt aside—her eyes were currently rolled back in a daze—and continued after the blue-haired Kalawarner lay down and mounted him.
”Yuuma, I’m serious. You, Lute, and Vana… you can all come over.”
Yuuma wavered.
Thinking back to the cold reception she’d received upon her last return, she almost said yes on the spot.
After a long, heavy silence, she exhaled.
”No. If we defect to the Stray Devils, it’ll be treated as treason. We’ll drag you down with us to face the pursuit of the Fallen Angels.”
(Please. You guys got wiped by Rias and the Fallen Angel faction didn’t even lift a finger, let alone becoming a Peerage of the Gremory family. Once the Three-Way Summit is over, this won’t even be an issue.)
Aki kept his cynical thoughts to himself and flashed a confident smile.
”Don’t sweat the small stuff. I’ve got a plan. Just listen before you make a choice.”

After hearing the plan, Amano Yuuma was clearly moved and revealed everything she knew about the “Dangerous Sacred Gear.”
In truth, she didn’t know much; Azazel’s orders were just to monitor Hyoudou Issei.
He hadn’t mentioned what the Gear was or when it had manifested.
”Wow… you guys really are just disposable tools to them, aren’t you?”
Aki couldn’t help the comment.
The result was Yuuma’s face darkening instantly, and she kicked him out the moment she finished draining his Essence.
Standing outside the cathedral, Aki sighed.
”Note to self: the truth does not set you free in the bedroom.”
Although he’d been kicked out, his mood was excellent.
Amano Yuuma’s intel was basically zero, but it confirmed the one thing that mattered: the Gear was in Hyoudou Issei.
That meant the “Dangerous Sacred Gear” was, without a doubt, the Boosted Gear.
The “Extraction Plan” was officially a go.
But first, he had to clear it with Rias.
He needed a way to bring the kid back afterward; he was going after a student of Kuoh Academy, and he didn’t want to be a complete monster.
Furthermore, even though Aki was S-Rank, his status hadn’t been recognized, so he naturally wouldn’t be granted Evil Pieces¹¹.
If the plan went smoothly, the matter of the Reincarnation for Amano Yuuma and her crew would also have to be entrusted to Rias.
Three days later, under the light of a full moon.
Hyoudou Issei was lashed to a grotesque cross, his body writhing in a panic as he tried to snap the heavy chains.

Aki ignored Issei’s frantic babbling; regardless of the outcome, this memory was getting wiped, so there was no point in wasting time.
Rias nodded, a small crimson Magic Circle glowing in her palm.
The panicked Issei slumped instantly into a magical slumber.
As the midnight bells began to chime, Aki checked the sky.
”The time has come. Start the ritual.”
Right on cue, three silhouettes dropped from the sky, their pitch-black Wings unfurled.
”Did we arrive just in time?” asked Raynare.
”Perfect timing. I’m starting the extraction. You three wait on the side for a bit,” said Aki.
While Aki focused on the ritual, Amano Yuuma and the other two stood face-to-face with Rias and Himejima Akeno.
”Lady Rias, it’s a pleasure to meet you. My name is Raynare,” said Raynare.
”I’m Mittelt~!” said Mittelt.
”Kalawarner,” said Kalawarner.
Rias gave a regal nod.
”No need to be so formal. Aki already briefed me on your situation.”
”Thank you, Lady Rias. We’ll proceed with the plan then,” said Raynare.
”No rush. Let’s first see if this Sacred Gear is even worth Aki’s time,” said Rias.
Rias crossed her arms, perfectly maintaining her aura as a pure-blood High-Class Devil.
”As Aki’s Master, if this thing is trash, I won’t sign off on it.”
”Ara ara~ don’t worry, everyone,” said Akeno.
As Rias’s Queen, Himejima Akeno added a timely smile.
”Even if the Gear is a bust, you three are more than welcome to join us.”
