”Is that really the first time,” she muttered, “or has it been a million?1 Honestly, I can’t even tell anymore.” Whether Little Aki received his ‘Essence’ was entirely up to her whim.
To ensure Aki’s physical state didn’t spiral into unforeseen complications, Rias resolved to keep the cleaning process slow and steady, keeping a watchful eye on Raynare to prevent her from overindulging.

Once Grayfia returned to the Underworld, news of Azazel’s death and the circumstances surrounding it spread like wildfire. Aki suddenly found himself under the scrutiny of numerous factions and heavy hitters.
It wasn’t just because of Azazel’s demise; it was the growing suspicion that he was the successor to the current Red Dragon Emperor. Every time a new successor to one of the Thirteen Sacred Gears appeared, it drew eyes.
But because the Red Dragon Emperor and the White Dragon Emperor were destined rivals, their successors were of paramount importance to every major race.
The gears of fate, which should have been set in motion by Hyoudou Issei, were now grinding forward in an entirely different, self-correcting way.
On the other side of the divide, the Fallen Angels were far from satisfied with the Devil’s explanation. However, once Grayfia leaked the intelligence that Aki had utilized the Juggernaut Drive and remained in a comatose state, their dissatisfaction was forced into a temporary simmer.
Unless they wanted to spark another war—which the Angels would have been all too happy to see—they had no choice but to stand down. Naturally, since Azazel had brought his death upon himself by being defeated by a junior, the Devils secretly provided the Fallen Angels with some “compensation” to keep the situation from escalating. Because of this incident, the timeline for the Three Factions Talk was finally locked in. Having already suffered heavy losses from past conflicts, none of the races wanted to repeat the tragedy. Every Demon King-class powerhouse was not only a top-tier combat asset but an invaluable genetic repository. For a race to flourish, a gifted next generation was non-negotiable.
By mid-April, the weather in Tokyo began to warm, and the fallout from the Azazel incident died down. The Fallen Angels quietly slunk away from the Cathedral base in Kuoh Town. That site, so often repurposed as a base of operations for the Fallen, was thoroughly dismantled and razed during a search conducted by Yuuto and the others.
On the tenth day of Aki’s “coma,” Grayfia returned to the Occult Research Club (ORC). Having received advance notice, Rias had gathered her entire Peerage, waiting for the silver-haired woman to deliver the results of her investigation.
”Lady Rias, is there still no sign of Lord Aki waking up?” Grayfia asked with refined concern.
”None,” Rias replied, her voice taut. She had barely left his side for days, even sleeping by his bed.
”There are three ways to wake Lord Aki…” Grayfia mused for a moment before speaking slowly, her tone measured and clinical. “The first is to gather powerhouses on the level of the Two Heavenly Dragons, or several god-tier experts, to jointly break the seal from the outside. Once Lord Aki’s soul and consciousness are freed, the seal can be reapplied.”
Rias’s expression darkened. Finding Dragon God-level powerhouses was impossible, and while there were god-tier experts among the Devils, convincing several of them to act at once… was effectively a pipe dream. “And the other two methods?” she asked.
”I cannot guarantee the success of the remaining options,” the silver-haired woman replied.
”Even if there is only a sliver of hope, we must try,” Rias insisted with unwavering resolve.
Grayfia nodded. “The second method is to find a way to awaken the Red Dragon Emperor, forcing ‘Him’ to actively expand the seal. If Lord Aki’s soul consciousness isn’t dormant, he could potentially slip out directly.” Waking the Red Dragon Emperor was easier said than done. Rias couldn’t immediately think of a path forward there.
”There is one final method,” the silver-haired woman continued. “We increase Lord Aki’s strength. If he can reach the level of a peak High-Class Devil, there is a chance he might be able to break the seal himself.”
”Just reaching peak High-Class Devil is enough?” Himejima Akeno asked, looking puzzled. “Isn’t that seal meant to bind the Two Heavenly Dragons?”
”The seal is specifically calibrated for the soul of the Red Dragon Emperor,” Grayfia explained. “Lord Aki’s soul was only caught in the residual energy ripples. And I said it was only a possibility; it might require Ultimate-Class or even Demon King-class strength.” Aki was only a step away from peak High-Class Devil, which was why she proposed it. In a state where Aki could not actively cultivate, external force could push him through a bottleneck, but she couldn’t offer more than that. “Because of Lord Aki’s unique ability, even if a direct breach isn’t successful, it will stimulate his soul and consciousness. The combination of internal and external pressure will make escape from the seal far more likely.”
The women nodded, a faint flush appearing on their pristine faces. Everyone present understood exactly what the final method implied: Dual Cultivation.
”Let’s try to see if we can awaken the Red Dragon Emperor first,” Rias said, looking toward Amano Yuuma (Raynare), Mittelt, and Kalawarner. “Since basic Dual Cultivation seems to have little effect—or at least, ordinary methods aren’t yielding results.”
The three flushed deeply, bowing their heads in silence. Over the past few days, the girls had taken turns bathing Aki. Whenever it was the trio’s turn, the bathroom was filled with the sounds of their breathless, heart-fluttering gasps. They hadn’t noticed any major changes in Aki, but they themselves had become noticeably more alluring, and their own power had increased steadily. At this rate, the three of them might break into S-Rank before Akeno did.
”Lady Rias, if you intend to awaken the Red Dragon Emperor, I suggest you bring in the original host,” Grayfia advised. Rias had already briefed her on how Aki had obtained the Boosted Gear, and after her initial shock, the silver-haired woman had only grown more interested in him. “Unlike the average successor who relied half on luck, Aki’s case is rare—almost unheard of. Being recognized by the Red Dragon Emperor under such circumstances proves his potential.”
”Why bring that little guy in?” Rias asked, skeptical.
”There is no room for two tigers on one mountain. To fully unlock the permissions of the Sacred Gear… from the current situation, it seems the Red Dragon Emperor’s soul has entered a deep slumber, and it will likely only awaken when Lord Aki reaches the Dragon God level,” Grayfia theorized. “Our only hope is that the Red Dragon Emperor left a fragment of soul-consciousness within the original host. The Red Dragon Emperor manifested initially only because He sensed the host was in mortal danger, and the extraction ritual specifically targeted the Sacred Gear—which is to say, targeted Him.”
”Yuto, go fetch the Hyoudou classmate,” Rias commanded without hesitation.
In the time before Issei arrived, the women tried every method they could conceive. They attacked the Boosted Gear, poured Mana into it, and attempted to communicate through pure spiritual pressure. After a long, exhausting session, all they achieved was a wrinkled, disheveled-looking glove.
”Buchou, the guest has arrived,” Yuto said, bowing slightly.
”Thank you, Yuto,” Rias replied.
Hyoudou Issei scanned the room full of schoolgirls, his eyes widening and gleaming with fantasy as he wondered if his ‘springtime’ had finally come. “Uh… Rias-senpai,” he stammered, his voice rising in pitch, “did you need something with me?”
Rias glanced at Issei and turned to the older woman. “Grayfia, what now?”
”I’ll handle it. Even if there is a remnant of soul-consciousness, your current strength isn’t enough to detect it,” the silver-haired woman stated.
She curiously examined the original Red Dragon Emperor successor of this era. He had a decent personality, but he seemed a bit too naive. As she approached, Issei’s focus was entirely drawn to her ample, heaving curves. Before he could even begin to process the view in his mind, the world went black, and he lost consciousness.

A former Grigori operative and master of light magic, she is now a devoted Pawn in Aki’s peerage. While she teases others about their relationships, she serves Aki with obsessive, yielding devotion, sharing a profound physical and spiritual bond with him.
• Rias – Rias Gremory (17) is an authoritative, beautiful red-haired High-Class Devil and head of the Gremory family. As leader of the Occult Research Club and her peerage, she orchestrates training and schedules from her office desk. While monitoring group dynamics and managing Aki’s situation, she builds a complex, burgeoning relationship with him, hiding a deep vulnerability about her leadership.
