Ravel stepped into the center of the Activity Room without hesitation, fully willing to cooperate. Seeing no reason to change anything, Rias proceeded with the contract ritual1 using the same mutated Bishop piece. The process went surprisingly smoothly as the crimson magic circle pulsed beneath Ravel’s feet and the piece dissolved into light before flowing into her body. Only a few days after giving up her place as a Bishop, the blonde noblewoman found herself back in the role once again. Because she was already a pure-blooded devil, the ritual functioned more as a contract than a true reincarnation.
As the magic circle faded, Rias exchanged a glance with Sona Sitri before both of them looked toward Aki. Although the result had exceeded their expectations, neither could hide the feeling that something about the situation was deeply strange.
”From now on, we can only select women as our peerage,” Rias said, her voice calm and measured. “Fortunately, there is no need to undergo Dual Cultivation with Aki beforehand. Otherwise, it would become difficult to tell whether we were recruiting peerage members or simply joining his harem.”
Sona pressed her fingers against her temples. “Tsubaki, cease all contact with Saji. I finally found a candidate with sufficient potential, but that option is no longer available.”
”It is a shame,” Rias said, her gaze drifting toward the cardboard box resting on the sofa. “Gasper’s ability and potential are both exceptional.”
With so many people gathered in the room, Gasper had retreated into the safety of his cardboard box once again.
”Indeed,” Sona replied, sounding genuinely tempted. “Time-manipulation abilities are rare, and an ocular power of this level is well worth cultivating.”
”Gasper Vladi,” she continued, her tone firm. “We will arrange for your transfer into Class 2-A. You need not concern yourself with your grades. In exchange, you will report to the Student Council after school every day for training. We must ensure that you gain control of your Sacred Gear as quickly as possible.”
The cardboard box wobbled, and a timid voice drifted from inside.
”O-okay… I understand, mye.”
Sona tilted her head and covered her eyes with one hand as a sigh escaped her lips.
”And that personality of yours will require immediate correction as well.”
The box trembled as though Gasper were about to leap out and protest, yet his shyness won out once again.
Rias let out a quiet laugh. “Sona, let us proceed carefully. We should focus on his power first.”
A sharp glint flashed across Sona’s glasses, and she responded with a silent nod. If Gasper failed to master his abilities, his school life would be anything but peaceful.
”If you require assistance, simply inform me,” Rias said. She had no intention of washing her hands of the matter, especially now that an agreement had been reached for him to serve the Gremory household.
Sona nodded. “I shall.”
The boy hiding inside the cardboard box was now receiving guidance from the future heads of both the Gremory and Sitri households. It was the sort of opportunity countless devils could only dream of, yet all Gasper wanted was to remain inside his box forever.

With the matter of Gasper settled and the vampire incident brought to a close, Aki decided not to approach the other mixed-blood vampire, Tachibana Nao, just yet. If Gasper was timid, Nao was cautious to a fault. Trying to get close to her under false pretenses would likely do more harm than good.
By the time the first stars appeared beyond the academy grounds, Aki had finished his shower. Stretching out across the large bed in the Occult Research Club, he passed the time with a book while waiting for his patients.
After the discussion earlier that afternoon, Ravel had quietly approached him to arrange the continuation of her “treatment.”
”Aki-sama,” Ravel said, her cheeks flushed as she offered a polite bow. “I apologize for the intrusion.”
Four young girls stood in the middle of the room, each looking noticeably uncomfortable.
”Nii, Rii, Mira, Shuriya,” Aki said as he closed his book and smiled at them. “Come here. There is no need to be so nervous.”
”Aki-sama…” Shuriya began softly.
Her tanned skin seemed to glow beneath the moonlight spilling through the window, yet the faint redness on her face revealed that she was nowhere near as bold as she tried to appear.
