Chapter 116 The Café At The Royal Capital Station
Edited by: Kanaa-senpai
Summer break has begun. Preparations are finally in full swing.
”Alright, luggage check…”
Since it’s a half-month training camp, I have a considerable amount of luggage. Well, I plan to buy what I need on site, but laundry magic is really convenient for trips like this――or rather, it’s probably something that people from the past created specifically for times like these.
I’ve finished handing over my work and completed all the necessary notifications. My mood is already lifted.
”Well, I’m off.”
I tell Belzeda and my family, and they see me off politely.
”Be careful, young master. We already have some of our people stationed on site, so if anything happens…”
”Oh, I know. I’ll contact you if anything comes up.”
For now, a few of our organization’s members have already infiltrated Vitz, but they’re not doing anything overt. They’re just there as communication personnel.
I leave the mansion, take a horse-drawn carriage, and head to the train station. The royal capital is an old city, and the train station is still located on the outskirts. It’s like a hub for traveling to other cities.
”Hmm, it’s really crowded.”
When I arrive at the station, it’s packed with people. This might be due to summer break. People living in the royal capital have the luxury of enjoying their vacations.
The meeting spot is… the special café ‘Starlight Café’. I arrive a bit early and stand in front of the café.
Starlight Café’s building is a noble black, and the interior visible through the glass windows exudes elegance. Of course, the prices on the menu are also steep.
”I’ll order a bunch of lunch items, and it’ll probably cost around one silver coin.”
That’s about 10,000 yen in my past life’s sense. It’s on the level of a famous store in the noble district. As I’m thinking this and browsing the menu, I sense someone’s presence.
”Good morning, Alba!”
”Good morning, President.”
It’s Lana. She’s wearing a thin white one-piece dress and carrying a parasol. She looks so cute that my heart skips a beat.
”You weren’t waiting for me, were you?”
”It’s okay, I just arrived too.”
”Good… then let’s take a break until the train arrives.”
I nod, and Lana and I enter Starlight Café together. The plan is to wait here until the train we’re taking arrives.
The Starlight Café was fairly crowded, but it wasn’t full, probably due to the prices. We were quickly shown to an empty seat.
”President, the station was really crowded, wasn’t it?”
”Yeah, I guess it’s because of the summer break. But… don’t you feel a little… off?”
”Honestly, yeah.”
”Hehe, yeah, me too.”
We were led to a window seat on the second floor. As we sat down, I could smell the coffee from inside the shop, along with Lana’s sweet scent…
Today was a special day, so I had been holding back and not doing anything with girls. Honestly, just looking at the president in her thin clothes was making me hot. I was that worked up.
”Alba, let’s just get something light… what do you want to get?”
”Hmm, how about the tea and seasonal cake set?”
”Ah, that sounds good! I’ll get that too!”
We called the waiter over and placed our order. He gave us a slightly suggestive look, but… I’ll just ignore it. We may look like commoners, but if he looks at our clothes and luggage, he can tell we’re from the noble class.
”We’ll get that ready for you right away. Please wait for a bit.”
The waiter left. I guess we’re safe.
Now that we’re settled in, I look out the window at the platform and the tracks. This royal station connects the east, west, north, and south of the country. That means there are 4 platforms.
”It’s been a while since we’ve taken the train, hasn’t it?”
”Yeah. I use it a lot when I go back to my hometown. It’s cheaper than horses, especially with luggage.”
”Yeah, that’s true if you have a lot of luggage.”
The railroad network in this country is still pretty weak, but it’s already better than horses in some ways. If I knew more about steam engines, I could have made a fortune, but it’s impossible for a modern Japanese person to improve steam engines.
”It’ll take about half a day to get to Vitz, but it’s good that we can transfer trains.”
”Yeah, riding horses for that long would be painful.”
”Yeah, I mean, I do ride horses as a noble hobby, but…”
As we chatted, the waiter came back with a tray carrying our tea cups and cake. The elegant white and red ceramics, the rich aroma… and the mango and melon cakes. Both of them used a lot of fruit.
Huh?
A mango cake and a melon cake. I ordered the same cake set, but the cakes they brought out are different.
”Here you go, a gift from the shop owner to the lovely couple.”
The waiter smiled and added a cup with a few cookies to our table. That’s when it hit me.
They made the cakes different so we could share them…!?
They’re trying to figure out our relationship by looking at us. What a clever shop.
”Enjoy your meal.”
The waiter left with a flourish. I glanced to the side, and Lana’s face was slightly red… she must have come to the same conclusion as me.
So cute. It’s a great start to our trip. I should thank the shop.
”Shall we eat for now?”
”Y-yes…!”
And so, we started eating our cakes in a hurry.
