Chapter 124 Arrival At Vitz

Several hours had passed, and it was around 3 pm when Lana woke up.
”Ugh, uuuuh… nngh…”
She stretched her arms and body, then rubbed her eyes and looked at me.
”Are we almost there…?”
”Yeah, about 20 minutes left, I think.”
”Fuah… I slept well.”
Lana stretched her body again and looked out the window. The scenery of grasslands and mountains continued, unchanged.
”Ah, it’s great. The weather is nice.”
”Yeah, it’s perfect weather.”
Not a single cloud in the sky, with the sun shining brightly. It was good news that the weather was on our side.
As Lana continued to chat idly, we heard the train conductor’s voice.
’We’ll be arriving at Vitz Station shortly!’
The mountains grew distant, and houses began to appear. But we still couldn’t see the sea.
We prepared to get off and waited for the train to stop. 3:30 pm. We were about 5 minutes late, but it was almost on schedule.
The train whistle blew, and the train shook. After confirming it had stopped, Lana and I exited the private room and entered the corridor.
I noticed the duo in the next private room struggling to pull out their large luggage…
”Hey, put some strength into it from that side!”
”Be careful not to damage it…”
Ignoring those people, we slipped out unnoticed, carrying our luggage, and got off the train. The first thing we felt after getting off was the thick smell of the sea breeze.
”Un! It smells like the sea!”
The station’s colors were more vibrant than those in the royal capital. Bright red and blue, with hibiscus and palm tree designs everywhere. It was fully embracing the tropical atmosphere.
We pushed through the crowd and passed the ticket gate. The station was on top of a small hill, and the entire view of Vitz, the beautiful sea, and the island spread out before us.
”…It’s beautiful.”
”Yeah, it’s amazing.”
In the distance, we saw a large ship docked at the harbor, and below us, the pointed towers and red-brick streets stretched out. The buildings were all colorful, boasting a stunning contrast with the blue sea. There were many sandy beaches in the distance, with small figures of people gathered together.
And the complex terrain of the islands overlapped with my image of the Seto Inland Sea. With the gas lamps, the night view would surely be breathtaking.
”Let’s go to the hotel and drop off our luggage first.”
I said, and we headed towards the hotel we had reserved. We walked down the hill and through the winding streets, finally arriving at our destination. By the way, the hotel we reserved was a high-class one for nobles.
The people in the town had similar facial features to those in the royal capital, but their clothing was quite different. It was more flashy and revealing. We saw many stylish ladies walking around, showing off their daring outfits.
”The fashion here is really different, isn’t it?”
”Yeah, it’s probably because of the sea and the heat. Plus, there are many people who want to swim right away… Unlike in the royal capital, where many people can’t swim.”
”The sea is right next to us, so it’s no wonder. I can even see swimsuit shops everywhere.”
Swimsuit shops were extremely rare in the royal capital. The rivers in the capital were too polluted to swim in, anyway.
Compared to that, Vitz was extremely blessed. From the train, we saw the mountains carrying clear water and flowing into the sea. With such abundant water and beautiful beaches, it’s no wonder people want to swim.
We walked through the streets, climbing a small hill, and finally arrived at our hotel. Lana nodded in agreement.
”It’s great. The building is really sturdy.”
In the back of the flower garden, there was a 4-story red-brick building that looked like a noble’s mansion.
We planned to spend a week here and learn many things. Then, we would move to another hotel on the opposite side of Vitz for the second half of our stay.
The lobby was colorful and lively, just like the town. Although it was only the first day, we were already getting a feel for the place. After checking in, we were guided to our room. The boy guide proudly said,
”Our hotel offers a classic exterior and modern interior, with the highest level of service. If you need anything during your stay, please don’t hesitate to ask the nearby staffs.”
He puffed out his chest. In reality, the corridors and walls were beautiful. It wasn’t as grand as the Manor of the Black Rose, though.
Our room was on the 4th floor. It was quite spacious for the two of us to stay in. Of course, there was only one king-size bed, but we could enjoy it together.
”Huff! We’re finally here…!”
”Yes, how was it, Ms. Lana?”
”Hmm, it was much more comfortable than the carriage ride. The seats could even recline.”
I locked the door and put down my luggage. The decorations were quite colorful and pleasing to the eye. The painting on the wall was a harbor town of Vitz, as seen from the sea.
”Alright, let’s take a stroll around town!”
”Yeah, let’s go!”
We didn’t have a dinner reservation at the hotel. Let’s explore the town and find a place to eat for tonight.
