Chapter 147 Hotel Buffet
Edited by: Kanaa-senpai
After switching hotels and lazing around until nightfall, the fatigue finally began to lift from my body.
Youth really is something.
No—I think both Lana and I are just naturally on the more resilient side. We do handle student council work on top of our studies, after all. Taking breaks at just the right intervals to shake off exhaustion is something we’ve grown accustomed to.
That evening, we had dinner together on the hotel’s top floor. Normally, meals come in a course format, but here it was a buffet style.
The main attraction was seafood—plump shrimp, sautéed white fish, grilled scallops, and more.
Mm, everything looks good.
Lana seemed to feel the same way, carefully inspecting each dish with focused eyes.
”My, so many choices… it’s rather difficult to decide.”
”Indeed. Everything looks absolutely delicious.”
Buffet style was still relatively rare in the royal capital—course meals were still considered the more refined option. However, buffets like this were becoming increasingly common in the provinces.
A small cheer rang out from across the restaurant, and a child came running over.
Curious, I looked over to see—a bowl of soup, with a crab leg poking out from the top.
”Oh! Looks like they just brought out crab soup.”
”We shall have to secure some on the next round.”
Lana smiled, clearly in high spirits.
There’s something about buffets that just gets you excited, especially when it’s your first time at a place.
Lana was usually so proper and reserved, but I suppose being on a trip loosened things up. If this were the royal capital… she’d probably be holding back more.
We returned to our seats and enjoyed the food slowly. The flavors were on the richer side—definitely catered to younger palates like ours.
”Hehe, it’s so terribly fun getting to try so many different things.”
”Same here. I could keep going.”
”As can I. I’ve already decided what I shall be getting on the next round.”
And so, we enjoyed our dinner buffet to the fullest before heading back to our room.
”Phew… that was quite a lot…”
”We really went for it, huh.”
”…I do apologize, as always. You keep paying for everything.”
”Don’t worry about it. Let me treat you.”
Honestly, this was more than cheap enough for the privilege of having Lana all to myself.
Lana flopped onto the sofa, completely letting her guard down.
Good.
A sight like this is mine alone…
Ah, but.
I had quite a few things I wanted to jot down.
I grabbed my notebook and began writing down my observations about the buffet with quick, fluent strokes.
”(That was pretty valuable time. The view was nice, sure—but more than that, as a system…)”
The current buffet had a 90-minute time limit.
There were plenty of tables, though they were spaced a bit close together. That said, the area around the food stations was more spacious.
The quality of the food was great. The seafood-heavy menu might not satisfy locals, but it would be more than adequate for tourists.
Scratch, scratch.
I recalled the layout of the plates and tables, the flow of the restaurant’s interior—the movements of the staff—and made notes of them all.
”What are you writing… about dinner just now?”
”Yes, while it’s still fresh.”
Lana peered over my shoulder, looking impressed.
”Are you planning to open a restaurant as well?”
”Perhaps. Well, consider it one of the options I’m exploring.”
I deflected the question vaguely, but my thoughts were already racing in a different direction.
”(Should we try it out before any competitors appear…?)”
A sweets buffet could be adapted from our existing product line.
Since buffets themselves weren’t associated with high formality, there was no need to build it near aristocratic estates.
”(Acquire a shuttered restaurant, transport the sweets… hmm.)”
The numbers in my head said it was feasible. But well, I’d leave the details for when we got back.
I’d been so focused that quite some time had passed.
Lana was no longer on the bed.
Huh?
Just as I was wondering, Lana emerged from the bathroom.
”I’ve drawn you a bath, Alba.”
”Oh… thank you.”
I closed my notebook and turned to face her.
She fidgeted slightly as she stepped closer.
”Alba… if you’re amenable to it…”
”Yes?”
”Would you… care to join me?”
