Chapter 107 Isolated Island
Edited by: Kanaa-senpai
Tester Life: Day 42. Holiday. Location: Sanada Yakumo’s Room – Living Area.
”Alright, next on the agenda is checking out that isolated island I’ve been curious about,” Sanada Yakumo said.
”You mentioned it had a sun and a sea, right?” Sayaka asked. “I can’t wait to see what kind of place it is.”
”I just hope there’s enough space for training,” Sanae added.
”Yeah, if it’s big enough, we can use it for drills. It’ll also be nice to let Rock and the others roam free for a change,” I replied.
Up until now, except for exploration, I’d kept them sealed inside Magic Sealing Crystal¹s. Letting them run wild on a private island seemed like the right move.
”We can actually keep Rock-chan at home? That’s amazing!” Sayaka exclaimed.
”If Sayaka’s this hyped, ‘Rock’ must be that giant dog, right?” Karen asked. “I mean, his face really does look like that Shiba Inu at Sayaka’s place. Well… just the face, anyway.”
”He was incredibly strong, though,” Sanae noted. “He’s not going to turn on us, is he?”
”He’ll be fine. He’s just a weird dog-mimic who lives for headpats, so don’t worry. Anyway, let’s claim the reward,” I said.
I reassured Karen, who was still a bit twitchy about having monsters loose in our living space after seeing the dungeon footage. I pulled up the Magic Crystal notifications and accepted the reward for the island.
The far wall of the living room suddenly pulsed with light. A moment later, a massive, panoramic window surged into existence.
”This is…” I muttered.
”It’s beautiful…” Sayaka whispered.
”I never imagined it would look like this,” Sanae said.
”Wait, is this a real view? It’s not just a screen, is it?” Karen asked.
We stood there, speechless. The scenery beyond that window took the air right out of our lungs.
There was a brilliant blue sky, white clouds, and a sun shining with staggering intensity. Below lay a stretch of white sand and a sea that shimmered like a liquid emerald. Sanae stood frozen, her jaw hanging open.
I understood the feeling. I hadn’t expected the dungeon to replicate the surface world so perfectly, nor did I think we’d be able to see it directly from our living room. I noticed a door tucked into the corner of the window frame. That had to be the field entrance Remia mentioned.
”Go out?” I asked.
I grabbed the Magic Pouch² from the table and pushed the door open. A pleasant sea breeze brushed my cheeks, and I could hear the rhythmic hush of waves lapping against the shore. It was warm out here – probably around 86°F. It reminded me of the Okinawa trips I used to take at the end of every summer.
This is incredible. Remia mentioned she’d poured massive resources into this, but it was beyond my imagination. Was this “miniature garden” really only for the top three parties? That seemed unlikely. Eventually, they’d probably sell island rights to the top ten or so. It would be a total waste otherwise.
I walked down a few steps and set foot on the sand. It was hot, but not enough to burn. Looking back, I realized our “My Room” now looked like a modern, one-story beach house. It felt like someone had sliced a section out of a luxury apartment complex and dropped it on the dunes. From here, I could see right into the living room and the girls’ future bedrooms.
I scanned the area. Several palm-like trees were scattered about, but they didn’t block the view. The island was a near-perfect circle, maybe two hundred meters across, with the house sitting on a slight elevation in the center. I looked up at the sun. It was an artificial light source, which meant no worrying about UV rays or sunburn. There were even clouds drifting lazily on the wind.
The girls followed me out, their expressions filled with a mix of shock and pure joy. We hadn’t seen the sun or a blue sky in over a month. Of course they were happy.
I looked away from them and pulled the Magic Sealing Crystals from my pouch. I channeled Mana Capacity³ into them and tossed them onto the sand. Two bursts of black light erupted, and my summons appeared: Rock and Saizou.
”Whuff…?” Rock tilted his head.
”Gyoi,” Saizou muttered.
Rock went to give his usual energetic bark but stopped, looking around the beach in confusion. Saizou appeared in a low crouch as usual, but as soon as he realized he was on a beach, he stood up and began scanning the perimeter, visibly bewildered.
”This is a reward field – our private island. No monsters will spawn here, so relax. You’re free to roam this place whenever we aren’t exploring,” I explained.
”Woof!” Rock barked.
”Gyoi,” Saizou replied.
”Ah! Rock-chan!” Sayaka called out.
”Wafun♪”
”Oh? You brought Saizou out too?” Sanae asked.
”Gyoi,” Saizou repeated.
”So you’re Rock,” Sanae said, stepping closer. “You’re much bigger than you looked on the monitor. Though, your face really doesn’t match that physique, does it?”
”Whoa, a Ninja Goblin! I think this is my first time seeing his face,” Karen said. “He looks more human than I thought. Totally giving me Namekian vibes.”
”Rock, Saizou. These are Karen and Sanae. Make sure you listen to them from now on,” I ordered.
Once the summons were out, the girls swarmed them, led by Sayaka. I made sure to tell the boys to follow the girls’ lead.
”Woof!”
”Gyoi.”
”Oh! He actually said it! He really is like a ninja!” Karen shouted.
Karen seemed obsessed. I guess the whole ninja aesthetic really hits the mark for Americans.
”It’s a small island, but let’s take a lap and scout it out,” I suggested.
”Right! Rock-chan, your gear must be hot and heavy. Let’s get that off you,” Sayaka said.
”Wafun♪”
”Saizou, you can take off that chainmail too. It’s gotta be stifling in this heat,” I offered.
”Gyui,” Saizou grunted, shaking his head.
”You don’t want to? Well, if you’re fine with it, then suit yourself,” I said.
”Hehe, it seems he’s ‘Jouzai Senjou’, Master,” Sayaka giggled.
”Huh? What’s that about? Where did he even learn a phrase like that?” I asked.
”The other day, I saw him standing guard so intently that I mentioned it to him,” Sayaka explained. “He didn’t get it at first, but once I explained the meaning, he just kept nodding.”
”Go figure. He’s leaning into the ninja bit more every day,” I muttered.
I’d checked his stats earlier, and his race had evolved into Assassin Master⁴. I wondered if all monsters in these crystals developed such strong personalities. The Kobolds used by the other testers seemed pretty generic by comparison.
I walked toward the shore where the waves were breaking and started a lap around the perimeter. Sheena fell in step beside me, her long white hair fluttering in the breeze. Behind us, Sayaka and Sanae were struggling to keep a gear-less Rock from diving into the water, telling him “later” as they held him back. Further back, Karen was still trying to interview Saizou, miming shuriken throws. Saizou just kept responding with a stoic “Gyoi.” I had no idea what she was getting out of it, but she looked like she was having a blast.
We finished the loop and ended up back in front of the house. It was a tiny island – nothing but sand, palms, and the sea. I saw some shells, but no fish. I guess even Remia couldn’t allocate resources for a full ecosystem. Still, the sense of freedom was staggering. Just having the wind on my face was enough to clear my head. On the surface, I’d taken this for granted. Here, it felt like a miracle.
I considered stripping down for a bit of a nudist beach moment, but I decided to save that for the afternoon.
”Alright, I’m going to set up the Magic Tent⁵!” I called out.
”Oh, right! The camping gear we got yesterday,” Sayaka said.
”Wait, what? A tent? Let me help!” Karen shouted.
The whole group gathered around as I pulled the black cube from my pouch. I funneled Mana Capacity into it and set it on the ground. The cube erupted in a flash of light, and within seconds, a structure shaped like a Mongolian ger stood before us. It wasn’t huge – maybe seven feet tall and thirteen feet wide – wrapped in a sturdy, beige leather material. It looked like it would be a tight fit for five people.
”Incredible. It just appeared,” Sayaka whispered.
”It’s probably the same tech as the Sealing Crystals. Still, this ‘Capsule’ tech is way too convenient,” I noted.
I found the entrance – a leather flap that worked like a curtain – and stepped inside. My jaw dropped. The interior was at least 250 square feet.
”Whoa, this is insane,” I muttered.
The inside was a world apart. It was a cozy, wood-paneled room with polished floors and a rustic fireplace in the back. It looked like it could stay warm even in a blizzard. There was no entryway, so I assumed we were supposed to wear shoes inside, though I was currently barefoot. In one corner sat a sink and a strange-looking stove, and nearby stood a massive iron chest. Several doors lined the walls, likely leading to the bedrooms and the bath.
”Wait, it’s this big on the inside?” Sayaka asked.
”Holy crap! It’s like one of those ‘I thought it was a tent but it’s actually a mansion’ light novels!” Karen shouted.
”Magic… it really does defy all logic,” Sanae added.
Everyone was shocked as they followed me in. Only Sheena seemed unfazed, though she had a knowing smirk on her face.
I did a quick walkthrough. The two bedrooms were spacious, about 180 square feet each, though they lacked any closets. It felt like a two-bedroom apartment without storage. The bathroom, however, was massive. You could easily fit six people in there. The tub was like something out of an old-school public bath, though it was a bit shallow – you’d only be submerged up to your chest. Still, a giant tub was a luxury I wasn’t going to complain about. I could see why the nobility prized these things.
The toilet was a Western-style tankless model, but Sheena dropped a bombshell: apparently, you’re supposed to sit on it facing the wall. I noticed a handrail where the tank usually sits. Wait, am I supposed to hold onto that? Like a toddler on a training potty? I felt a surge of psychological resistance, but then I figured I could probably just use it the normal way. I stepped back out, wishing for a high-tech bidet, but I knew I was pushing my luck.
Sheena walked us through the mechanics. The whole tent ran on Mana Capacity drawn from Magic Stone⁶s. No stones meant no water, no heat, and no lights. She showed me the generator in the dressing room – which looked like the one in our main house – and I restocked the stones. Next was the kitchen. The stove worked like an induction cooktop, so the girls picked it up instantly. The “iron chest” turned out to be a refrigerator, though it didn’t have a freezer.
Apparently, Grade 1 tents even have Stasis Storage⁷ where time literally stops. I made a mental note to pray for one of those. Once the tour was over, we headed back to the main house. We sat down in front of the Magic Crystal and spent the rest of the morning debating which furniture to buy for our new beach house and the tent.

Summary:
Yakumo and his group claim their reward: a private, artificial tropical island accessible from their room. They release their summons, Rock and Saizou, to enjoy the sun and sea for the first time in 42 days. Finally, they set up a high-tech Magic Tent that functions as a luxury apartment inside, despite its small exterior appearance.
—
Trivia:
- The island is 200m in diameter and circular.
- The sun is artificial and doesn’t cause sunburn.
- Saizou has evolved into an ‘Assassin Master’ class.
- The Magic Tent is a 2LDK layout internally.
- Everything in the tent requires Magic Stones to function.
- Higher grade tents have time-stop storage capabilities
—
Character Insight:
Yakumo shows a rare moment of nostalgia for the surface (Okinawa). Saizou displays character growth by adopting a ‘warrior’s code’ influenced by Sayaka. The group is bonding through domestic tasks rather than just combat.
—
Behind the Scenes:
The author notes that the island illustration used was smaller than intended; it should be 100m in radius.
