”Hmm. I guess that’s the lot for the magic types,” I muttered to myself.
I had been jolted awake by Karen and Sayaka’s morning service. After a quick shower, I left the bathroom before them and headed straight to the Service Room. I was already scrolling through the Magic Crystal’s interface, looking to invest in some Martial Arts Codices and Magic Tomes.
From the living room, I could hear Sanae’s occasional yelps as Sheena barked orders at her. It was their turn to handle breakfast today, and it sounded like Sheena was putting her through the wringer.
Last night, Sanae and Karen had finally surfaced just as dinner was being served. Once we’d finished eating, Karen insisted she was fit for duty, so she and Sayaka followed me back to the bedroom.
Karen really went all out. She had a pink rotor humming inside her while I took her from behind, and then she swapped to a dynamic cowgirl position, grinding away with a second rotor taped to her clit. She’s become every bit as aggressive as I’d hoped – her moans are easily the loudest in the harem. Sanae is a distant second at best.
Watching Karen’s intensity as I hit my limit, Sayaka had turned a deep shade of crimson. “Should I… should I be making noises like that too?” she asked tentatively. It was adorable. I made sure to tell her I loved her exactly as she was – flushing red and shy.
I went five rounds with Karen, taking short breathers in between, and put in another five with Sayaka before the two of them finally tapped out.
Later, just as the Wall-Butt service was about to close for the night, I summoned Freya and drained another three rounds. On a whim, I tried calling one last time, and Lilith appeared. I apologized for the late-night booty call, but she just swayed her hips, making it clear she didn’t mind the overtime. As a thank-you, I gave her exactly what she wanted, slapping her ass hard as I buried myself deep inside her.
I spent the rest of the night in ‘sprint mode,’ treating her like a proper disposal unit for four more rounds. Once I was thoroughly spent, I crawled back to the bedroom and fell asleep sandwiched between the soft warmth of Karen and Sayaka’s breasts.
”Alright, let’s see about Sanae’s gear,” I said, shifting my focus.
A Taijutsu ² Instructional Manual and a Physical Reinforcement ³ Codex shimmered into existence on the stone Magic Circle. I gathered them up along with a Firewall tome and turned back to the Crystal.
I picked up the Taijutsu manual for Sanae as a literal lifesaver – something to help her slip away if a monster ever got in her face. I also grabbed the Physical Reinforcement codex so she’d have the raw power to draw a heavy bow and keep the arrows flying.
Karen didn’t need the hand-to-hand manual; she still had the military CQC her father had beaten into her. Instead, I bought her a Physical Reinforcement codex to sharpen her reflexes and help her backpedal if things got hairy. I threw in a Firewall tome for some emergency crowd control as well.
As our mid-liner, Karen is always on the move to find a clear shot. She needs a way to roast anything that tries to flank her. Since Rock and Sayaka are usually glued to Sanae’s side, I skipped the ‘Wall’ spells for her.
”Now this… this looks like the real deal.”
My finger stopped as I scrolled through the Weapons tab. The Demonwood Greatbow.
”Forty thousand DP… damn. And the custom arrows aren’t cheap either,” I grumbled.
The bow was a 40,000 DP investment, and it required specialized black-iron tipped arrows. Standard wolves were easy enough to drop with her old gear, but if we were going up against Orcs, we needed something that could punch through thick hide and fat.
”Two thousand DP for a quiver of twenty? That’s a hundred per arrow – literally a thousand yen a pop. What a ripoff,” I muttered. “Then again, since the monsters dissolve, I don’t have to worry about the shafts snapping while I’m digging them out of a corpse. That should save some money in the long run.”
The arrows looked like they were carved from ironwood. Compared to the fortune I was spending on Karen’s ammo, the fact that these were reusable made them a steal.
”Fine. Let’s gear her up.”
Her current kit wouldn’t even tickle an Orc. I authorized the purchase for the Demonwood Greatbow and forty arrows. I wasn’t sure if her F-Rank strength could even bend the limbs, but she could always burn Physical Reinforcement to make it work. She could stick to the old bow for wolves and break out the heavy artillery when the Orcs showed up.

Neither Sayaka nor I had seen much action during the girls’ power-leveling trip, so our Mana ranks hadn’t budged. Honestly, the grind from E-rank up is legendary, so I’m not expecting a miracle – even with E+ Orcs to hunt.
Sheena has already hit the natural C-rank ceiling for Beastmen. Without some kind of ‘Limit Break’ item, she’s peaked. Humans in this world usually cap at C+. There are stories of people breaking through those walls, but they’re outliers.
Karen hitting F+ while Sanae is stuck at F is almost certainly because Karen got the killing blow on the 6th-floor Guardian. I hadn’t realized it, but Boss-types must be worth a massive XP bounty. Since this world gives the full XP reward to whoever lands the last hit, Karen effectively robbed Sanae blind.
I’m going to keep that to myself, though. If I told Sanae, she’d lose her mind and start doing something reckless to close the gap.
She’ll probably figure it out eventually, though. F-rank gives you three charges of Physical Reinforcement, while F+ gives you five. Karen doesn’t use hers often, so I’ll just feed Sanae some Mana Recovery Potions and play it off as a fluke. I’ll have to make sure Sanae gets the finishing blows on the Orcs today. I’ll need to clear it with Sheena first, but she’s not the type to rub Sanae’s nose in it.
”Balance is down to 1.29 million. Man, that went fast.”
I stared at the remaining DP with a wry smile. Between the bow, the arrows, and the four new skill books, I’d just vaporized 89,000 DP. Our earnings from the last few days were only around 30,000 DP since I was dumping all our high-grade stones into the Magic Gun. We still had to buy food, so the drain was constant, but Orcs were worth 600 DP a head.
I just hope the Magic Gun – running on Green Wolf stones – can actually drop an E+ Orc. If not, our daily income is going to tank. If they’re too tanky, I’ll have Karen focus on the wolves while I hold the line. If things get crowded, that’s when Sanae’s new bow needs to shine.
”Master, breakfast is ready,” Sheena called out.
”Be right there!” I replied.
Sheena was standing in the doorway, looking sharp in her maid uniform. I stood up, shook off the math, and followed her out.

After a quick meal and a breather, I geared up. I’d already stowed Rock and the others back in their Sealing Crystals. A few minutes later, the girls met me by the door.
”Everyone ready?” I asked.
”You bet!” Karen said, practically bouncing. “It’s Orc time! I’m going to blast every one of them to hell, so watch me! If they get close? I’ll just fry ’em. I don’t know why, but I feel like I could take on the whole dungeon this morning!”
”That’s the rank-up talking,” I said with a grin. “Your base stats just got a boost.”
”My body does feel strangely light,” Sanae added, her fingers tracing the limbs of the Demonwood Greatbow. “I’m going to make these Orcs regret ever spawning. Just watch me, Yakumo.”
She had been glowing since the moment I gave it to her. Even now, she was wearing this smug little smirk of pure satisfaction. She really is a riot when she’s motivated.
”Sanae, don’t overdo it,” Sayaka warned. “If you burn through your Physical Reinforcement too fast, you won’t even be able to draw that string.”
Sayaka was right. Even with the rank-up, Sanae was clearly struggling to draw the bow in her base form. Without the buff, she’d be useless. But if the bow lived up to the price tag, it should put a hole right through an Orc. Once she hits E-rank, she should be able to handle it without the magic.
”I know, I know,” Sanae huffed. “But I’m not going to be the one who lets Yakumo down because I couldn’t pull my weight.”
”We’ll be fine,” I said, patting her shoulder. “I can handle a couple of Orcs on my own. Just keep an eye out for Green Wolves. Those bastards specialize in the ‘surprise’ part of a surprise attack.”
”Got it!” Karen chirped.
”Understood,” Sanae replied.
I nodded to them and then caught Sheena’s eye. I gave her a look that said ‘Keep them alive.’ She gave me a firm, silent nod in return.
I’d leave the mid-line to Sheena and Rock while Saizou and I took the vanguard. We’d see how this formation held up against the big boys.
”Let’s move,” I said, leading them out of the room. “Time to get Sanae and Lucy those levels.”
