Chapter 149 12th Floor Exploration, Day ②
Edited by: Kanaa-senpai
After finishing our lunch break-feeling recharged after some fun in the sun with my top-heavy duo, Karen and Sheena-I headed back down the main thoroughfare.
The monster spawns on the 12th floor were frequent. Every five minutes or so of walking would trigger an encounter with Orcs and Green Wolves. Thankfully, Sheena’s ears were sharp enough to pick them up long before they saw us. It made the grind manageable.
There’s magic for this too-¹‘Mana Capacity Detection.’ You can buy the grimoire at the Shop. It senses anything with a mana pool, but the range is crap unless you pump a ton of energy into it. It’s mostly for tight spots like forests or indoor raids. Using it out on an open road like this would just be a waste of MP.
Having Sheena around really hammered home how lucky I was to have a Rabbit-Beastman with her senses. Honestly, all those ‘creampie sessions’ were paying off. I guess you really can blast a path to the future if you try hard enough.
Once Yuki’s group hits the 11th floor, they’ll probably have to rely on scouts. If I didn’t have Sheena, I’d have to stick Saizou out on point, but even then, those Green Wolves are tricky. Their timing is never the same twice.
We kept a steady rhythm: fight, collect magic stones, move. We were clearing about three Orcs and Wolves every fifteen minutes. After about five kilometers and a quick breather, we spotted a side path.
Our formation was solid: Rock in the lead, followed by me and Sanae, with Karen, Lucy, Sheena, Sayaka, and Saizou bringing up the rear.
I kicked things off by nuking the gate and its Orc guards with a ²Fireball. Immediately, six Green Wolves lunged from the treeline behind us. “Handle the flank!” I shouted to Sheena’s group.
Sanae and I focused on the gate. Orcs were trying to push out, using the charred corpses of their buddies as meat shields. Rock and I charged in before they could fan out. Our job wasn’t necessarily to rack up kills yet, but to draw aggro and keep them bottled up.
”Keep their eyes on us, Rock!” I yelled, parrying a blow with my buckler and snapping back with a quick spell to keep them off-balance. Rock was a beast, catching heavy wooden clubs on his greatshield and punishing them with his short spear. Behind us, Sanae’s arrows whistled past our ears, pinning any Orc that tried to squeeze past the bottleneck.
Soon, Sayaka’s ice arrows began thudding into green hide. Sheena and Saizou dived into the fray, and Karen started picking off the stragglers trying to circle around us.
The cleanup was over in minutes.
Rock and I were winded, but it was nothing we couldn’t handle. Rock actually looked like he was having the time of his life-it had been a while since he’d really gotten to cut loose at my side. Of course, the second the dust settled, he trotted over to Sayaka to get his ‘good boy’ pets.
”We’ll stick to this rotation until the fifth settlement,” I told the group. “Things might get weird at the sixth, so be ready to pivot.”
We moved into the settlement and headed straight for the largest hut.
”Well, look at that. Two for two on treasure chests,” I said.
”Talk about luck! Today might actually be our day!” Karen cheered.
Sanae stepped forward, eyes gleaming. “I’m opening it! Come on, magic tome… give me something high-tier!”
”Are you sure you want to jinx us like that?” Sayaka asked.
”It’s not a jinx! Don’t be a buzzkill!” Sanae snapped back.
”Whatever. Just open it already, Sanae,” I said, giving her a light swat on the rear to get her moving.
She took a deep breath, muttered a quick prayer, and threw the lid open.
”What!?”
No magic book. Just a single Grade 4 Potion and a small pouch of silver coins. It was like the chest was mocking her.
”Yikes. Total bust,” Karen muttered.
”Called it,” I sighed.
”Classic ‘Sageman’ luck, right?” Sheena smirked.
”Shut up! Next time! I’m getting the big pull next time!” Sanae shouted.
”Give it a rest. When the RNG is this bad, you’ve got to walk away for a bit,” I said, patting her head. I knew that look. I’d seen it in the mirror every time I struck out on a gacha banner back home. “Just endure it for now. Your day will come.”
”Even if she waits, it doesn’t change the fact that she wasted a chest on a dud,” Sheena added, twistedly enjoying the moment.
It was a cold truth. Pulling the SSR later doesn’t give you back the money you blew on the trash pulls today.
”Ugh… damn it…” Sanae groaned.
”Sheena, knock it off,” I said, though I couldn’t help but chuckle.
”My apologies, Master,” Sheena purred, looking entirely too pleased with herself. “It’s just that she never fails to disappoint exactly when it matters most. It’s entertaining.”
I gathered the potion and coins, but something was wrong. “Wait… where’s the pass fragment?”
”Huh? You’re right, it’s not here,” Karen said, leaning in.
We tore that chest apart, but there was no shard. Up until now, copper chests were a guaranteed drop for the pass pieces.
”Are you telling me the drops aren’t guaranteed on this floor?” I muttered. “Are you kidding me?”
”No way! That makes the grind twice as long!” Karen cried out.
”And the settlements are further apart now…” Sayaka added, her shoulders slumping.
”This is going to take forever,” Sheena sighed. “I’m starting to see why Karen was complaining about ‘loops’ before.”
The mood tanked instantly. The 12th floor was going to be a slog. If I didn’t treat this like a marathon, the mental fatigue was going to break us.
It was already 5:00 PM. We’d started late, and nobody was in the mood to push through a night battle with our morale this low.
”Let’s call it for today,” I decided. “No point rushing if we’re just going to tilt.”
We set up camp on the main road. To kill the mood, we broke out some board games and cards. Naturally, we played for stakes: clothes. There’s something special about watching a group of gorgeous girls getting competitive while down to their lace and skin. By the time I was down to my birthday suit, I was enjoying the view far too much to care about the missing pass fragment.
* * *
The next morning, I woke up feeling a hell of a lot better. After a night of ‘venting’ my frustrations into everyone-multiple times over-the girls were still zonked. Seeing them sprawled out in the living area, covered in the evidence of last night’s festivities, was a hell of a sight. A 5P session really is the best stress reliever.
I cleaned them up, tucked them in, and then finished off the morning with a quick ‘visit’ to the girls in the Wall-Butt.
While I was having my morning coffee, the Magic Crystal buzzed. It was Yuki. He sounded refreshed, thanking me for letting him and Hina spend the day at the island. Sonoda and the others hopped on too, their girlfriends sounding just as happy.
Since we were stuck in the grind, I told them to keep enjoying the beach. Yuki mentioned he wanted to invite some guys from the baseball and karate clubs-the ones with girlfriends-to join their party.
”Do whatever you want until I get back,” I told him. If they wanted to bring in more muscle, fine by me. The more people I had motivated to get strong, the better it would be for me when the inevitable ‘Raid Boss’ appeared. This dungeon felt too much like a game for there not to be one.
After breakfast, we hit the road again. Everyone was in better spirits after the long sleep.
We hit the third settlement before noon. The plan worked perfectly: Rock and I held the line, the girls rained hell from the back, and we cleared the place in record time. I was getting better at rapid-firing ³‘Impact’ spells to keep the Orcs pinned inside the gates. It’s a simple spell, but effective.
I’d tried casting it from my feet once to see if I could use it like a jet booster. Bad idea. I just ended up face-planting into the dirt. Some things are better left to anime. It seems the spell really needs to be channeled through a shield or a solid brace to work right.
Sayaka was also becoming a terror with her ⁴‘Water Cutter’ magic. She was slicing Green Wolves in half before they could even mid-leap. It was slower than ‘Wind Cutter,’ but the raw power and area of effect were massive. Definitely a good investment.
We reached the hut. No chest.
”Can’t win ’em all,” I sighed.
We pushed on to the fourth settlement. This time, we found a chest. Karen opened it: a ⁵‘Medal of Return,’ some silver, and-thankfully-a pass fragment. It wasn’t a jackpot, but it was progress.
By the fifth settlement, Sayaka pulled a ⁶‘Black Iron Headband’ and another potion. I gave the headband to Saizou. He took it with his usual stoic ‘I am a humble shadow’ routine, but I saw his lip twitch. He was stoked.
Still, no pass fragment in that one.
”Five settlements, four chests, two fragments,” I calculated. “80% chest spawn, 50% fragment drop. This floor is definitely a different kind of beast.”
As the sun dipped low, we called it a day.
Back at the tent, we chilled. Karen read some manga Sayaka had bought her, Sanae worked on her bow, and Sayaka spent her time managing our supplies and buying gifts for her friends back at the facility.
I spent the evening by the fireplace with Sheena and some booze. She’s a fun drunk-gets clingy in the best way. Eventually, I dragged her and Karen to the bedroom. Sheena kept whispering how much she loved me, and Karen didn’t want to be left out, so it turned into one of those ‘romantic’ sessions.
Of course, I still ended up creampie-ing them until they passed out.
Day two of the 12th floor was in the books. The grind continues.

Summary:
Yakumo’s party continues their exploration of the 12th floor, discovering that transit pass fragments are no longer guaranteed drops from treasure chests. This realization sours the mood, leading to a night of board games and s*xual release to manage stress. The following day, they optimize their combat tactics and clear three more settlements, ending the day with mixed loot and a slow progression through the floor’s mechanics.
—
Trivia:
- Transit pass fragments are now a 50% drop rate rather than 100%.
- Yakumo is already preparing for future ‘Raid Bosses’ by encouraging allied groups to level up.
- The ‘Impact’ spell has physical recoil if not anchored correctly.
- Sayaka’s new ‘Water Cutter’ spell is more powerful but slower than ‘Wind Cutter’.
- Yuki’s party is currently resting at an isolated island ‘resort’ provided by Yakumo
—
Character Insight:
Yakumo shows a pragmatic approach to leadership, prioritizing his party’s mental health over progress when the ‘grind’ becomes demoralizing. Sanae’s bad luck with chests serves as a recurring comic relief, while Sheena’s sadistic streak is highlighted in her enjoyment of Sanae’s failures.
—
Behind the Scenes:
The author uses terminology like ‘SSR’ and ‘RNG’ to firmly establish Yakumo’s background as a modern gamer navigating a fantasy world structured like a social game.
