Day 64, Afternoon – The High Road
”Oink!”
”Now, now. Just protecting Sanae isn’t enough. You want to be bitten, don’t you? Then hurry up and draw the rest of those Green Wolves’ attention!” Sheena commanded.
”Gyah! Squee-heeee!”
”Hey, Sheena! Stop stabbing Hanako in the ass with your rapier!” Sanae shouted. “Can’t you see she is in pain?”
”She is fine, Sanae,” Sheena replied, her voice cold. “This perverted sow was looking plenty ‘pleased’ when the Orcs were clubbing her earlier. I’m sure she is enjoying this, too. Now, get moving! Pull the Green Wolves off Saizou and onto yourself. You’re a useless bitch of a pig, aren’t you?”
”Pigi! Oink!”
”Ahhh, Hanako’s butt is a bloody mess… You’re a total demon, you rabbit!” Sanae cried.
”Say what you want. My beloved husband ordered me to turn this perverted Orc into a proper meat shield,” Sheena said. “I’m doing this for your sake, too.”
”Ugh… Hanako… how did you end up like this?” Sanae muttered.
By the time Rock and I finished instakilling our Orc and looped back, Sheena was already “supervising” the front line by driving her rapier into Hanako’s backside. It was a scene I’d grown far too used to.
It seemed Hanako didn’t get off on pain when it came from other women. Clutching a heavy iron shield in each hand, she sobbed while bashing them together to taunt the two Green Wolves that Saizou and Sheena had intentionally left alive.
By buying her extra shields at the Shop and having her go full turtle, her cover range was now even wider than Rock’s. Between her pathetic squealing and the din of the metal, she was doing a solid job of keeping the wolves’ aggro. As far as rearguard defense went, she was more than enough.
”Wrong! How many times do I have to tell you?” Sheena barked. “You can’t protect Sanae from over there! Position yourself so you’re always between the target and the threat. Is your brain made of ham, you sow?”
”Bugi! Snort…”
This time, Hanako got so focused on the wolves that she drifted away from Sanae, earning a swift kick to the rear from Sheena. Again, a very familiar sight. She took hit after hit on her shields, eventually getting so “into it” that she tried to let a wolf bite her on purpose. Sheena immediately lanced her with the rapier, drawing a shrill scream.
After a few more rounds of this practical training-blocking attacks while keeping Sanae safe-Saizou finally put the wolves out of their misery. We pushed further down the road, rinsing and repeating the process. As a result, it was already well past noon by the time we hit the first settlement.
Rock and I did our usual blitz, pinning the Orcs down at the gate. Ice arrows and shafts whistled overhead as the rest of the crew-Hanako included-joined the melee while Sayaka and Sanae held the back. Cowering under Sheena’s watchful eye, Hanako actually managed to do her job as a tank. Having the Orcs’ aggression split up made the whole fight feel significantly lighter. Numbers really do win wars.
Once the last Orc dropped, I headed into the village. Sanae was already busy pouring a Potion down Hanako’s throat-probably to patch up her perforated backside. Apparently, the sow had “peaked” again during the heat of battle.
I kicked open the door to the main shack, and there it was: a treasure chest, sitting pretty.
”Whoa, three in a row?” I muttered.
Yesterday, the first village was a bust, but the next three all had loot. It looked like the RNG was finally swinging back in my favor for this run. Hoping for the best, I popped the lid. Inside was a black iron helm with two distinct holes bored into the crown. I gave a dry, internal laugh at how timely the drop was, but a quick search revealed no permit fragment.
”Can’t win ’em all, I guess,” I said. It was the second day in a row without a fragment in the first chest. Figures.
When I stepped out, Karen’s face lit up at the sight of the loot, but when I shook my head, her expression immediately soured. I tossed the helm to Sanae and told her to put it on Hanako. Sanae ran over, looking way more excited than the Orc she was about to dress up.
Hanako tried to resist, clearly hating the idea of having even less skin exposed, but one look at Sheena’s hand on her rapier hilt turned her face pale. She slumped down and obediently let Sanae strap the helm onto her. This sow really never changes.
Since it was past noon, we took a break in the settlement. While I took Sanae aside for some open-air fun¹ in the weeds, Sheena and Saizou kept “training” Hanako with kunai and rapiers. Every time Hanako tried to intentionally tank one of Saizou’s hits to feel the impact, Sheena’s rapier would ruthlessly find a gap in her armor. Every thrust was met with a guttural squeal.
Meanwhile, right in front of me, Hanako’s master was screaming in ecstasy as I gave it to her. Eventually, the harmonized moans and screams of master and servant echoed through the entire settlement.
I hurried our break, and we reached the third settlement just before dark. This time, I let Sayaka open the chest. As expected of an Ageman², she found a black Kusarigama³ and the final permit fragment⁴. I handed the weapon to Saizou, who accepted it with a rare smile and a deep bow.
”Gyoi,” he responded when I told him to use it to protect the group.
With all seven fragments gathered, it was time. We stood on the open road, everyone prepared and on high alert. I crouched down and began joining the pieces of the copper transit permit together to summon the barrier checkpoint.

• Rock – A male Kobold summoned from a Magic Sealing Crystal. He has grey fur, round eyes, and a face resembling a Shiba Inu. He wears a leather jacket and a pilot’s cap
• Sayaka – The academy’s premier beauty and a member of the swimming club. Currently classified as a Rank 1 Slave. She is seventeen years old and a virgin. E-cup. She has blue, short, boyish hair. Her best friend is Sanae.
• Karen – An international student from America who often runs to school late with bread in her mouth. Considered a ‘main target’ by the protagonist. Voice acting major, huge breasts, same height as Sana.
• Yakumo – A 25-year-old human male. He has facial scars, stab wounds, and gunshot scars from his time in a war zone. He works as a school guard.
