Chapter 266 Hanako’s Tantrum
Edited by: Kanaa-senpai
… Tester Life Day 133 / Re-run / Last Day of the Lap / Afternoon / 14th Stratum, Plaza in front of the Castle / Sanada Yakumo …
”Aah! My Earth Wall got smashed!”
”Leticia!”
We were surrounded on all sides by Orcs. Since the Earth Wall Karen had deployed on our right flank had been destroyed, I had Leticia move to handle it.
”I got it! ‘Sanctuary’”
As Leticia deployed a barrier wrapped in a wall of light, Karen ducked inside, followed by Lucy, and reloaded her Magic Stone into her Rapid-Fire Magic Gun. She began firing again, gunning down the Orcs appearing from beyond the collapsed wall.
”Feli! Cover Karen!”
Feli, who had gone through her second Evolve and was now a D-Rank Gray Wolf, charged at the Orcs trying to climb over the remains of the wall at Leticia’s command.
Now a two-meter-tall giant, Feli tore a throat out with a single bite.
Also, activating the special ability ‘Strong Claws’ gained from her Rank Up, she began cutting off the arms of the Orcs one after another with her long, sharp claws.
With Karen’s safety confirmed thanks to Lucy and Feli’s efforts, I looked at the left flank and the rear while hacking through the swarm of Orcs alongside Sheena and Lunaria from behind Hanako.
The rear wall was the Stone Wall Sanae had put up, so it looked safe for now, but the Earth Wall on the left had a massive crack in it. It was only a matter of time before it collapsed.
Just as I thought that, the Earth Wall gave way, and about twenty Orcs appeared on the other side.
’Tornado’
But it seemed Sayaka, who had been watching the whole area from the back, was on guard. She cast a mid-level magic ‘Tornado’ at the Orcs trying to step over the pieces of the collapsed wall, tossing four of them into the air.
’Ice Lance’
She immediately followed up with another spell.
Three icy spears struck the group behind the Orcs that had been tossed up and slammed into the ground.
As a result, three Orcs had the spears deeply stuck in their chests, and their upper bodies were frozen solid from the point of hit, killing them instantly.
The Orcs stopped in their tracks, seeing their friends being caught in a tornado and turned into ice statues right before their eyes.
”Lunaria! Sheena and I will hold this line, you go!”
”Understood! Leave it to me!”
Following my order, Lunaria charged like the wind, cutting down Orcs one after another.
As expected of Sayaka. Thanks to her perfectly timed interruption, we were able to drive in a wedge in the form of Lunaria.
I silently praised my reliable lover, who was casting magic one after another while protected by the Rock, which was glowing with a pink light—a side effect of receiving Hanako’s special ability ‘The Queen’s Favor,’ which increased physical stats by 1.2x.
Sanae was also firing arrows with a serious expression at the new wave of Orc archers and any Orc Wizards within her line of sight.
It seemed Saizou was handling the Wizards outside the bow’s range, moving through the plaza at high speed, leaving trails of pink light behind him.
I used to lose track of Saizou all the time, but it’s nice being able to see where he is.
He apparently hates receiving ‘The Queen’s Favor’ because it makes it impossible to stay stealthy.
It is flashy, sure. But the 1.2x physical stat boost is a huge deal. In fact, it’s kept the enemy Wizards’ magic output to a minimum.
Even so, Orcs were swarming in one after another from beyond the broken walls on both sides. There were also Mana Capacity readings of a new group of Orcs heading toward us from behind the castle in front.
We’d taken down quite a few, but because of the effect of Hanako’s ‘Provocation,’ it looked like there were still over fifty Orcs in this plaza alone.
The only wall protecting us now was the Stone Wall sealing the rear. Only Leticia’s Sanctuary and the Rock were protecting the rear, along with Sayaka, Sanae, Leticia, and Karen in the middle.
Lunaria was beyond the collapsed wall, and Lucy and Feli were out in front to intercept, so we couldn’t deploy another Earth Wall.
Leticia couldn’t use other magic while ‘Sanctuary’ was active, so she was down on the number of ‘Light Ring’ attacks she could use.
If Lunaria, Lucy, and the others were pushed back, even that Sanctuary would be smashed in an instant.
”Grrr! Are you not done yet, my Lord?!”
Lunaria shouted while being swarmed by Orcs from the left flank.
”The Princess, it’s almost time. The pig’s skin is turning bright red.”
”Yeah, any second now.”
’OINKIIIIIIII!!’
Just as I answered Lunaria and Sheena, Hanako let out a scream that could only be called a roar.
Then, she swung the Greatshields in both hands, smashing away the five Orcs that had been surrounding and attacking her.
Hanako, her face and entire body now bright red, looked absolutely furious as she slammed her Greatshields into the ground, lifted her pig feet high…
’Oink! Oink! Oink!’
And began stomping her feet violently in place.
The moment she did, the movements of all the Orcs in the plaza stopped dead.
You could feel the shock and fear on the faces of the frozen Orcs.
This was the effect of Hanako’s new special ability, ‘The Queen’s Tantrum.’
”Now! Charge!”
Confirming that Hanako’s special ability had activated, I issued the order to charge to everyone, hacking through the frozen Orcs in front of me with my Adamantite Machete.
”The Princess, GO!”
”Leave it to—I told you to stop calling me that, you impudent one!”
”Lucy! Let’s go!”
”Okay!”
”Feli, feast on them.”
”Bow-wow!”
At my command, Sheena and Lunaria jumped out toward the swarm of Orcs on the left, arguing as they went, while Lucy and Karen charged the group on the right, daggers and large knives in hand.
Feli circled around the stone wall in the rear, heading toward the group of Orcs that must have been hiding behind us.
Leticia dismissed her Sanctuary and cast three Light Rings, while Sayaka made five Ice Arrows, slashing and piercing the necks of the Orcs in the distance.
The time the Orcs would remain frozen was roughly twenty seconds.
Everyone counted in their heads while slaughtering the frozen Orcs without any resistance.
Once ‘The Queen’s Tantrum’ was activated, the Orcs of this Stratum became nothing more than sitting ducks waiting to be killed.
Regarding this ‘The Queen’s Tantrum,’ when Hanako first ranked up, she said she learned a roar-type special ability common to King-species, so I originally thought it was that.
But no matter how many times I told her to use it, she wouldn’t. Hanako would shake her head, looking like she wanted to say, “No, that’s not it,” so I was confused about whether it was a roar-type ability or not.
In the end, since I didn’t know what kind of ability it was, I decided to let her use it whenever she could.
That was when we entered the battle. Hanako’s skin gradually turned red while she kept blocking Orc attacks with the Greatshields on her arms, and when she turned bright red, she threw a tantrum just like earlier.
The moment she did, every enemy Orc in the area stopped moving.
At first, I thought the Orcs were just stunned by Hanako’s sudden burst.
That was how we felt, after all.
But as the enemy Orcs didn’t move for a long time, we realized it was a roar-type special ability.
Well, by then, the effect duration had ended and the Orcs had started moving again.
After that, we ran various tests. We found that to activate this special ability, Hanako had to block enemy attacks for a certain amount of time.
While she’s blocking attacks, the frustration of wanting to be cut but not being cut builds up inside Hanako, and when that stress reaches its peak, the ability becomes active.
When activated, Hanako becomes defenseless, but in exchange, she can seal the movements of monsters of her own rank or lower for about twenty seconds. That’s the kind of ability it was.
The freezing time isn’t fixed because there were some Orcs that would recover two to three seconds earlier due to individual differences. Since this was common among Orc Wizards, I suspect that those with higher Mana Capacity can resist it to a certain extent.
By the way, you can tell how much Hanako’s frustration has built up by how her skin gradually turns red.
It’s just like a special move gauge in a fighting game. In Hanako’s case, it’s a frustration gauge.
I wasn’t the only one who thought so. Karen was laughing her head off, saying she looked like a fighting game character, and Leticia was trying to teach her words to make her shout out the name of her special move like Saizou. Well, she’s a pig, so she can’t talk. Actually, I’d prefer it if Hanako didn’t learn to speak.
Sheena was confused, but she was surprised that this special ability could be activated multiple times a day.
Apparently, the roar-type special abilities that King-species possess—let’s just call them skills; Karen calls them that, too—consume a massive amount of Mana Capacity, so there’s usually a long wait needed after a single use. But Hanako can use hers one after another.
Regarding this, Sheena said that perhaps by building up frustration, the Mana Capacity used is being reduced.
When I asked if there were no Orc The Queens in the other world, she said that Orc The Queens basically use healing magic and appear as a set with an Orc King. So, she’d never seen a Queen like Hanako and didn’t know.
I thought she might be the same as a King since she could use ‘Provocation,’ but since she uses a skill that’s like a sub-type of a King’s, Sheena was confused, too.
I wondered if such a thing was even possible, but I decided to accept it since anything seemed possible with Hanako.
The existence of a pain-loving Orc is probably a new species in itself.
And about the skill name: although the effect is a ‘roar’ type skill, it looks exactly like she’s throwing a tantrum at enemies that can’t deal an effective blow, so I decided to name it ‘The Queen’s Tantrum.’
This skill can be activated multiple times a day and is a powerful skill that freezes all Orcs that appear in this Stratum.
However, this skill cannot be activated instantly. And a weakness is that while she’s filling up her special move gauge, if she takes an effective hit halfway through, the frustration gauge resets. I guess it means the frustration of not being cut was relieved.
That’s why I was thinning out the crowd from behind so Hanako wouldn’t be surrounded by more enemies than she could handle.
And about fifteen seconds after Hanako’s skill activated, everyone retreated at once.
”Well done, Hanako.”
’Squeal!’
And when Sheena poked Hanako’s butt while she was still stomping her feet, the effect of Hanako’s special ability vanished.
Normally, it isn’t broken by an attack from the same sex, but perhaps it’s past trauma. It only breaks when she’s poked in the butt by Sheena. If I left her alone, that pig would keep stomping for another ten seconds.
Anyway, I’m honestly glad Sheena can get rid of it. I, the Rock, and Saizou don’t want to hurt Hanako. For the sake of our mental health.
Then, twenty seconds passed, and a few Orcs that had survived by being far away started moving again.
”Hanako, one more round.”
’Snort… Oooink♡’
Leticia had named the move Hanako used while stroking her butt ‘The Queen’s Temptation.’ Well, it’s just Provocation. When I told her to activate it, Hanako looked at me as if to say, “You sure are a rough Owner, my blonde Doll-sama,” then winked at me and took off the chest plate of her full-body armor.
A chill ran down my spine, and I wanted to fire a Lightning strike right then and there, but I held it in.
Hanako didn’t care at all about me, who was suffering from such mental friendly fire; she pushed her exposed massive breasts together from both sides. Then, leaning forward, she activated ‘The Queen’s Temptation,’ glowing with pink light and directing it all over the plaza.
Then, new Orcs appeared from the Back Alley, and along with the surviving Orcs, they came running toward Hanako with angry faces.
’Earth Wall’ ‘Earth Wall’
’Stone Wall’
And Karen, Sayaka, and Sanae deployed earth and stone walls around us once again.
The rest is just repeating the same thing.
After that, we wiped out the Orc group and took our time exploring the building in front of the plaza while waiting for the surrounding Orcs to respawn.
The building in front of the plaza has a high spawn rate for Silver chests and often contains four Silver G-Coins, so it’s become our hunting ground lately.
Until now, Orcs had managed to get close before Hanako’s tantrum skill could activate, but with Lunaria joining the party today, that barely happened.
No, Lunaria is seriously strong. I had my first mock battle with Lunaria yesterday on our day off after she regained her ego, and it felt like a draw even with ‘Bracelet of Might’ and no magic. Since I can’t keep up with the speed Lunaria has reached using ‘Physical Reinforcement’ via Beast Ki, this was the result despite using my small shield and playing defensively.
Even Sheena felt like she could only move faster than Lunaria after equipping the ‘Anklet of Gale,’ a high-end version of the ‘Anklet of Swiftness’ that doubles speed.
Well, with magic, it was a landslide victory, though.
Lunaria is great at instant force and attack power, but she seems to struggle with surprise attacks using magic.
Before she died, it seems she practiced with a Beastman knight who was good at melee combat after losing Sheena, but since Beastmen can’t use magic, she really seems weak against magic-based attacks.
That said, I fought alongside Lunaria for the first time this morning in the main road and the Back Alley after she regained her ego, and her fighting power was far above when she didn’t have her ego.
It’s partly because she can use ‘Physical Reinforcement’ with Beast Ki, but more importantly, unlike her past self who would just charge like an arrow and never come back, she can now fight while keeping a firm eye on her surroundings. She was even moving in to provide cover for Karen and Lucy.
I guess that’s what happens when you’ve been a commander of a first-string unit. There’s a risk she might choose “brain-dead all-out charge” if backed into a corner, but there’s no doubt she’s a better commander than I am, as I’ve only ever commanded small squads.
If there’s ever a raid battle, I’d like to let her command our Guild members at least once.

Summary:
Sanada Yakumo and his party defend the 14th Stratum plaza against waves of Orcs, using Hanako’s unique crowd-control ability, ‘The Queen’s Tantrum,’ to turn the tide. As they move from a defensive struggle to total defeat of the enemy, the party includes new member Lunaria, whose regained ego greatly boosts their combat power. The chapter ends with the team exploring a nearby building, while the protagonist thinks about the working of their skills and their growing combat coordination.
—
Trivia:
Hanako’s skin turning red works as a visual sign for her ability gauge, working like a fighting game special move bar.
The Queen’s Tantrum is effective because it forces Orcs into a frozen state, but its activation depends on Hanako’s building frustration from not being struck.
Lunaria, a former first-string commander, struggles against magic-based combat because she previously trained against non-magic-using Beastman knights.
The Orcs’ ability to resist the freeze effect is linked to their Mana Capacity, as seen with Orc Wizards recovering sooner than standard Orcs.
The protagonist’s party prefers the plaza in front of the castle for hunting due to the high spawn frequency of Silver chests.
