I call out to everyone as I head up the stairs with Sayaka, aiming to check the chest that should’ve appeared in front of the black door behind the throne.

Karen and Leticia—who’d been messing around with Lucy and Sanae just a second ago—sprint over and tear up the stairs, blowing right past me and Sayaka.

Thinking that, I head over to them—and sure enough, there’s a special chest waiting all right.

Yep—behind the throne sat two chests: a golden one, and a little pearl box.
Been nothing but silver chests for a while now, so I figured a gold one’d show up eventually.

They grab each other’s hands in celebration, then take positions on either side of the gold chest.
Lunaria and the others, who’ve come up the stairs behind us, gather ’round with me and Sayaka, watching curiously from behind the pair.
”Ready, Leticia?”
”Mm! My heart’s pounding!”
”Three, two, one—open!”
And in unison, they flip the lid—revealing a white, pretty rod inside.
”Oh! It’s a rod! Hey, wait—isn’t this…?”
”Wooooow! It’s the one The Queen used!”
”See! I knew it! Yay for us, Leticia!”
Looks like what the gold chest had was that rod the Orc The Queen used—the one that could shoot healing magic across long distances.
”Awesome, Leticia. Good for you. Now you’re even more of a Great Healer, huh.”
I toss some congrats to Leticia, who’s pulled the rod out and’s holding it up high, eyes all sparkly.
”Mm! But Yakumo, your pronunciation’s still weird?”
”Returnee kid, y’know.”
Hey, I’m trying with the pronunciation, all right.
”Hmm~… Eh, s’fine, I guess! Now I can heal everyone anytime! So feel free to get hurt as much as ya want!”

I already secretly drank a potion for that burn from earlier. I was hiding behind my small shield, so nobody shoulda noticed. No way I’m letting them find out I burned myself firing off a Lightning with double Mana Capacity at close range—Sayaka’d chew me out for sure.

”Now if Hanako gets hurt, you can fix her up right away.”

I’ve heard Dragonewts have special fighting ability, too. Even as a reward, they probably wouldn’t just hand over such a strong race right off the bat.
So that leaves Elves, Dark Elves, or Dwarves.
Dwarves’d be the loli slot, so I’m hoping for either Elves or Dark Elves. Elves are strong too—they can use Spirit Magic and all—but personally, I’m rooting for the big-chested, big-assed Dark Elves. I wanna slap that cool Dark Elf girl’s big brown ass from behind and make her give up.

”Heheh, if you’ve got stray thoughts, those’ll get sent too, so practice really is needed. Since they’re rare items and the military had them under control, I don’t think any humans owned them besides high-rank adventurers.”
”Huh. That’s useful magic gear.”
With this, I can give orders to everyone without raising my voice every time.
Karen and Leticia look plenty interested, too.
Though those two’re always humming anime songs under their breath—so unless they practice a ton, I’m probably gonna be getting anime theme tunes broadcast straight into my head all day long.
”Right. Within the Dungeon, you can send telepathy across different Strata, so adventurers apparently all wanted them. Though among Beastmen, I was the only one using them.”
”Mm. In field battles, sending thoughts for every command is just too slow. Shouting out loud’s faster and boosts spirits too.”
”Since we had nothing but thick-headed commanders like this one.”
”Who’re you calling thick-headed! That’s rude, Sheena!”
”I see.”
Yeah, okay. I can’t really picture Lunaria using them either.
But within the Dungeon, you can use telepathy across different Strata—meaning I could talk with Moe and the others?
That’d be good for peace of mind on trips. She did say she’d get worried if I didn’t come back for days.
Oh! That’s right! Could be fun to have Kyoko wear them and give me a live commentary while she’s touching herself. Or I could find out what Sanae’s thinking when I’m not paying attention to her.
