Chapter 60 Requiem
Edited by: Kanaa-senpai
After parting ways with Sonoda, I head back to my quarters.
When I open the door, Sayaka in her school uniform and Sheena in her maid outfit are there to greet me.
”Welcome home, Master,” Sheena said.
”I’m back. I’ve got something to take care of, so wait in the living room,” I replied.
I tell them that as I kick off my shoes and head for the bedroom.
I strip the sheets from the bed, stop by the fridge and the service room, then return to the entryway to lace up my shoes.
Sayaka, who had been trailing behind me, speaks up.
”Um… did something happen?” she asked.
”Yeah… a third-year from the baseball club, Noda¹. He protected his teammates, but a monster took his head,” I said.
”-!? No… Mr. Noda…?” Sayaka gasped.
”You knew him?” I asked.
”…Yes. A little bit,” she replied.
”I see,” I muttered.
So they were acquainted. I figured she wouldn’t know him since they were in different grades.
”Um! So… are you going to where he is now?” she asked.
”That’s right. I figured I’d pay my respects,” I said.
”I see… may I come with you? I want to say goodbye,” she said.
”…Alright. Come on,” I replied.
At my word, Sayaka quickly puts her shoes on.
We head back toward the gathering crowd.
”Make a path,” I called out.
I say to the students surrounding the body, pushing through the throng.
If Sayaka weren’t here, I’d just shove them aside, but I have to show some restraint with her watching.
The students I address look at me in shock, then freeze up when they see Sayaka.
We walk down the path they open for us.
”-!? He… this is… horrible…” Sayaka whispered.
When we reach where Noda lies, Sayaka claps her hands over her mouth, speechless at the sheer brutality of the damage.
I give Sayaka’s shoulder a reassuring pat and step toward the body.
A student named Matsuki is still clinging to the corpse, sobbing an endless stream of apologies.
I really don’t like this.
I place a hand on Matsuki’s shoulder from behind and wrench him away from the body.
”!? Wh-What the hell are you doing!?” Matsuki shouted.
He tumbles backward, likely due to his injured arm, but scrambles up and screams at me.
”Shut up. How long do you plan on making a spectacle of his corpse?” I asked.
”A… spectacle…?” Matsuki stammered.
My words seem to make Matsuki realize the crowd is watching; his bloodshot, swollen eyes go wide with shock.
”A warrior deserves a warrior’s burial. Don’t disgrace him by leaving him on display,” I said.
Ignoring the dazed Matsuki, I begin stripping off Noda’s leather armor and blazer.
Sayaka helps me, her eyes brimming with tears as she stains her hands with blood.
This must be her first time seeing a corpse… she’s a kind, strong girl.
With the armor and blazer gone, the body is left in nothing but a gore-soaked shirt and slacks.
I wrap the remains in the white sheet I brought and lay the blazer over the top.
”We’re going to honor a warrior. Baseball club-follow me,” I said.
I scoop the body into my arms and head for the dungeon entrance without another word.
The surrounding students move aside instinctively, clearing a path for Sayaka and me.
Once inside the dungeon, I tell Sayaka to stay close and head for the teleportation room.
A moment later, the baseball players and their coach catch up, forming a protective perimeter around us.
Matsuki is there, along with others with arms in slings or limping on bad legs.
They grip their shields and clubs, eyes wide and bloodshot as they fight back tears, scanning the surroundings.
I wish they’d stop with the intense, glazed-over looks; they’re scaring Sayaka.
I could slaughter a stray Horn Rabbit near the entrance in a heartbeat, even with my arms full.
While thinking that, I don’t entirely misunderstand their feelings, so I let them “protect” us in silence.
After a few minutes, I open the automatic stone door and enter the teleportation room, laying the body a few meters from the wall.
I pull candles and a lighter from my Magic Pouch, light them, and use the dripping wax to fix them to the floor.
I offer up the sports drinks and sodas I took from the fridge, then drop to one knee and begin the rite.
”O warrior… brave soul who threw himself into the fires for the sake of justice. He sacrificed himself not for fame or gold, but for his brothers-in-arms. O warrior, true and brave… we swear never to forget your courage, and to carry your legacy forward. Descansa en paz, hijo de Dios².”
After the invocation, I bow my head and make the sign of the cross.
”Ugh… guhhh… it’s my fault… the vice-captain died because I fell… I’m sorry… it must have hurt so much… I’m sorry…” Matsuki sobbed.
”Noda… if only I’d been more careful… damn it… I couldn’t protect my own team… and I’m the captain… I… ugh…” the captain cried.
”I’m sorry… senpai, I’m so sorry… it’s because we were weak… because we cried for help…” another student wailed.
”Forgive me… I’m the coach, the adult here, and yet… I’m so sorry, Noda…” the coach muttered.
When I stand and turn around, over forty baseball players and their coach are in tears.
I let out an internal sigh and pick up the blazer I’d dr**aped over the body.
I hold it out to Matsuki, who is sobbing at the front of the pack.
”No matter how much you apologize to the dead, you won’t get an answer. Your job isn’t to cry or beg for forgiveness-it’s to get strong enough that you never lose another comrade. Get out of this dungeon alive and deliver this blazer to his family. That is the only atonement left for you,” I said.
”-!? I… ngh, I will… I’ll definitely deliver it!” Matsuki vowed.
Matsuki takes the blazer, gritting his teeth as he stares at the ceiling, fighting back the flood of tears.
This should keep him in the fight.
”I’m leaving some candles here. Say your goodbyes and get your heads straight. If you don’t, one of you will be the one lying on this floor tomorrow,” I warned.
I turn my gaze toward Sayaka.
”Sayaka, say your piece,” I said.
”…Yes,” she replied.
Still weeping, Sayaka nods. She kneels before the body, lights a candle, and presses her hands together in prayer.
Once she’s finished, I pull her close by the waist and we head for the exit.
”Sa-Sanada-san!” the coach called out.
As the stone door slides open, the coach calls out. I glance back over my shoulder.
”Thank you for honoring my student!” he shouted.
”””Thank you very much!””” the team echoed.
The coach and the entire team bow deeply in gratitude.
”Don’t mention it. I just did what I wanted,” I said.
I leave them with that and step through the stone wall, exiting the room.
A warrior who fought bravely deserves a proper send-off.
Maybe it’s because of my time on the battlefield, but I couldn’t stand seeing a brave man turned into a public spectacle.
That’s all there was to it.
After crossing the gloomy plaza outside the dungeon and returning to my room, Sayaka throws her arms around me and breaks into a loud wail.
I gently stroke her hair and wait for the storm to pass.
After a few minutes, she calms down and pulls her face away from my chest.
”You okay now?” I asked.
”Yes… thank you so much,” she whispered.
”It’s fine. Regardless… I’m sorry about Noda,” I said.
”Yes… we weren’t that close, but I started thinking about when he… confessed to me back in the spring. I tried to hold it in until we got back here,” she replied.
”…I see,” I muttered.
Hold on. I thought they were just acquaintances, but he actually hit on her?
I really fucked up with those sheets… Sure, they were ‘washed,’ but there were definitely spots where the dried, crusty fluids from me, Sayaka, and Sheena were still lingering.
And I wrapped the guy who was in love with her in that.
Basically, I just pulled the ultimate post-mortem NTR³ flex on the poor bastard.
…Well, whatever. He’s dead anyway.
More importantly, it’s time for some ‘consolation s*x.’
Between Sheena and me, we’re going to drown Sayaka’s sorrow in pure, unadulterated pleasure!
That night, Sayaka’s ‘requiem’-her desperate, rhythmic moans-echoed through the room, dedicated to the man who once loved her.
On and on.
Forever and ever.

Summary:
Sanada organizes a respectful ritual for Noda, a fallen student, to stop his corpse from being gawked at. He leads the grieving baseball club into the dungeon for a private ceremony. Upon returning, Sayaka reveals Noda had confessed his love to her in the past, leading Sanada to realize he wrapped the boy’s body in sheets stained with his and Sayaka’s s*xual fluids.
—
Trivia:
- The sheets Sanada used were specifically ‘stripped from the bed’ after he had been with both Sayaka and Sheena.
- Matsuki is the student who was saved by Noda’s sacrifice.
- Sanada performed a Christian-style rite (sign of the cross, Spanish prayer) despite the Japanese setting.
- Noda was the vice-captain of the baseball club.
- Sayaka was holding back her grief specifically until they reached the privacy of Sanada’s room
—
Character Insight:
Sanada shows a rare moment of ‘warrior honor,’ proving he has a personal code even if it’s detached from civilian morality. However, his lack of remorse regarding the ‘crusty’ sheets highlights his underlying ruthlessness or indifference toward those outside his circle.
—
Behind the Scenes:
The author uses the contrast between a solemn funeral and a ‘consolation’ threesome to emphasize the dark, transgressive nature of the story’s setting.
