’Fire Bullet¹‘ ‘Fireball’
”Rock! There is a trap on the floor! Head toward the wall! Saizou, follow Rock! I will go to the opposite side!”
From the front, toward a group of five rust-sword-wielding goblins and one goblin archer, I fired a Fire Bullet and finished the archer first.
Then I continued by firing a Fireball, catching about two and stopping the goblins’ feet.
In the meantime, I gave instructions to Rock and Saizou so they wouldn’t step on the floor traps, and I also circled around from the opposite direction of Rock and the others.
”Master,”
But I was stopped by Sheena’s call, and when I turned around, she pointed forward and backward while her ears twitched restlessly.
”Tch! Rock! Saizou! It’s a rush! Six more are coming from the front and back each! Sheena and Sayaka, buy some time!”

”Yes! Water Wall!”
Each replied to my instructions, and Sayaka deployed a Water Wall behind us in a way that it clung to the wall. She must have put in double the Mana Capacity². A wall of water 6 meters high and 4 meters wide appeared.
It’s quite impressive, but even so, it cannot block the passage. A gap of about 2 meters remains.
However, in that gap, Sheena is waiting with a rapier in hand.
Believing she will stop the goblins that appear by rounding the water wall, I concentrate on the enemies in front.

When Sayaka and I were surprised, Saizou bowed his head while slightly curling the corner of his mouth. How should I put it, his way of being happy is cool, unlike Rock. He’s becoming more and more like a ninja.
But poison, huh; indeed, the Goblin Assassin used poison. I had completely thought the dagger it held was a poison magic item or something, but was that poison produced by its own Ability?
Goblins are scary after all. Not only are they dexterous, but they have Abilities that Kobolds don’t have.

Wait-I’m at a higher Rank now with boosted durability, and it still felt that tight? If I’d been lower level… man. I better warn Yuki and Matsuki. If you’re gonna use toys, you better level up first, or the girl’s local pressure will snap your junk like a twig.

Exploration of the 8th Floor is cruising, thanks to Sayaka-san’s mapping and Light magic. At this pace, we’ll have the unexplored sectors cleared by the day after tomorrow.
Saizou-kun’s evolution has been a total game-changer. Much like that Goblin Assassin from the 7th floor, he’s a pure speed-build now. He’s been dancing around the mobs, peppering them with throwing knives to keep the heat off Rock-chan. Every now and then, he’ll pick off an Archer with a poisoned dagger-clean, efficient work. He’s turned into the perfect skirmisher, always sliding into the gaps to back us up exactly when things get hairy. He’s even started spotting traps before I do.
The 8th floor is mostly just pressure-plate arrows and tripwire spears. They get more frequent the deeper you go, but they’re predictable. Saizou-kun must have picked up the disarming patterns just by watching Rock-chan and me. Smart kid. Definitely smarter than your average goblin.
Because of him, I’m burning less mana, and since we don’t have to creep around for traps, I’ve let Rock-chan off the leash. His “Charge” is back on the menu, and our clear times are plummeting. I was worried a goblin summon would be a dud, but honestly? He’s been a godsend. I guess genius rubs off on the help.
We just ran into another pack. Saizou-kun softened them up with poison, and Rock-chan is currently flattening whatever’s left. Watching them work-the reverse of how they used to be-I noticed Rock-chan start to crouch. Then came that familiar black glow.
Another rank up! It’s been, what, two weeks? We’ve been busy with power-leveling Sayaka-san and babysitting the Gozaru-squad, but the sheer volume of kills finally tipped the scales. I’m still waiting on my own notification, but Rock-chan’s time had come.
”Rock-chan!” Sayaka-san cried out, rushing to his side. She saw Saizou-kun go through this yesterday, so she knows he’s fine, but she’s always had a soft spot for the big guy. Sheena-san and I just stood back and watched the light show. When the glow faded, Rock-chan was… significantly more imposing.
”Wow! You’re huge, Rock-chan! You look so much tougher!” Sayaka-san said.
”Vuff… arf, arf! ♪” Rock-chan barked.
His voice had dropped an octave, but he caught himself and tried to force out a cute, high-pitched yip to please her. Calculating little bastard. He’s pushing 170cm now-he didn’t get toweringly tall, but the muscle density is insane. He’s wide enough to act as a literal wall for the girls. And yet, he kept the same dopey, lovable Shiba face. It looks ridiculous on that body. Did he choose that? Did he keep the “good boy” face just so Sayaka-san would keep petting him?
Shameless. Absolutely shameless.
As he wagged his tail hard enough to create a breeze, Sheena-san whispered a single word: “Kaiser.”⁴
”Hm? You mean his species?” I asked.
”Yes. He looks like one,” Sheena-san replied.
”A Kobold Kaiser, huh? One step above a King. Makes sense.” I muttered. He probably looks a bit different from the standard ones because of his “face customization,” but at D-Rank, he’s a beast. A proper tank.
After Sayaka-san finished her “good boy” routine and Saizou-kun gave him a congratulatory pat on the shoulder, we pushed deeper into the Labyrinth to test the new specs. It didn’t take long.
”Master,” Sheena-san signaled.
”Rock-chan! Aggro! Six targets! Saizou-kun, scout ahead and clear the path! Sayaka-san, Water Ball for crowd control! I’ll take the Archer!” I shouted.
The team moved like a machine. Saizou-kun bolted, intentionally tripping a pressure plate and ducking as the arrows whistled over his head. He looped back, vanishing behind Rock-chan just as the goblins hit the light. Five sword-grunts and an Archer bringing up the rear.
”Water Ball!” Sayaka-san yelled.
Her orbs didn’t just fly; they tracked. The goblins tried to juke, but the water slammed into their temples, sending them into a daze. That was Rock-chan’s cue. He surged forward like a freight train, his Charge slamming the lead grunts into the stone wall with a sickening crunch. They didn’t even get back up. They just dissolved into black particles.
The Archer tried to line up a shot on Rock-chan, but I was faster. My Fire Bullet punched a hole right through his forehead before he could release the string.
As the Archer slumped, Saizou-kun flickered out from Rock-chan’s shadow. Two poisoned daggers caught the remaining grunts in the flank. They tried to keep coming, but the toxin was instant. Their faces went pale, their knees buckled, and they hit the floor.
”Sheena-san?” I asked.
”…All clear,” she whispered.
I looked at the spot where Rock-chan had pasted those goblins. No finishing move needed. The raw physical power he’s packing now is terrifying. His armor is looking a bit tight, too.
I think it’s time for a reward. I’ll get him that Black Iron set I saw-it’s pricey, but he’s earned it. And Saizou-kun gets a matching Black Iron dagger. A black blade will hide the poison better, anyway.
I watched them-Rock-chan standing guard with his massive shield, Saizou-kun efficiently harvesting Magic Stones-and felt a grin spread across my face. My summons were finally becoming the monsters they were meant to be.
