Chapter 129 Epilogue – And Then…

Edited by: Kanaa-senpai

Nisei Tsubasa had consumed a permanent gender-altering potion, transforming both body and soul into that of a girl. It had happened in another world, and she’d been terrified about what kind of side effects might appear after coming back to Japan. But now, nearly a month later, nothing strange had happened. She could finally breathe again.

Her face had always been somewhat androgynous, so even after the transformation, the changes were subtle—her body slightly softer, her chest a bit fuller. Still, there was no denying it: her body was that of a woman now. And once she’d returned to Japan, Tsubasa gathered every bit of courage she had and came out to her parents.

She’d been scared—so scared she could barely breathe. Her father was strict but upright; her mother, proper and unyielding. Yet Tsubasa respected and loved them both deeply. The thought of them looking at her with disgust made her whole body shake.

Even so, she confessed. Because Sayaka existed.

Sayaka had chosen Tsubasa—not Kanata or anyone else—after learning the full truth about her. And if Tsubasa’s parents had disowned her, Sayaka promised to accompany her back to the other world. That promise had given Tsubasa the strength to face everything head-on.

Of course, it hadn’t gone smoothly. There were tears, shouting, and confusion. But in the end, her parents accepted her as she was. Her mother even smiled and said, “I always wanted a daughter,” and now she dragged Tsubasa out for shopping sprees whenever she had free time. Her father acted like most fathers suddenly faced with a grown daughter—awkward and unsure—but it felt almost normal.

Almost everything worked out. The remaining issue was Sayaka.

Since Tsubasa had legally changed her gender, they could no longer marry under Japanese law. There was also the matter of Sayaka’s family reputation.

When she asked her parents what to do, her father simply said, “If you have enough money, everything’s possible.” And somehow, he was right. Soon, Sayaka became her official fiancée.

Several regions in Japan now recognized partnership systems, so there weren’t many obstacles. They agreed: if Japan didn’t legalize same-sex marriage before graduation, they’d move abroad to marry.

”…So, we’ll stay here for now.” Sayaka smiled as she reported the decision, her tone gentle but firm.

 ”I see… then congratulations, right?”

Before Tsubasa replied, the café door burst open.

”Sorry I’m late!” Maya shouted, her voice bright and full of life.

 ”…”

 ”What? What’s wrong?”

”Oh, nothing. You just… look different.”

Maya glanced at Miyako, who looked confused.

 ”Did I? I don’t think I changed much.”

”No, seriously—you look much more like a girl now. I almost didn’t recognize you. Are you really Tsubasa-kun?”

”I am. I finally got used to skirts, that’s all.”

Tsubasa laughed softly and twirled the hem of her dress.

”Wow, Tsubasa-chan, you’re adorable. Maybe Sayaka should try crossdressing to match you?”

 Miyako said, giggling.

”Hey, stop it already!” Sayaka protested, blushing.

”Anyway,” Tsubasa said suddenly, her tone shifting to something serious, “what about you two? What will you do now?”

”I’ll go,” Miyako answered quietly. “There’s not much reason for me to stay here.”

 ”And Maya?”

Maya hesitated for a moment. “I thought a lot. I have no parents or siblings, but I worry about the orphanage kids. Still… if Sayaka stays, nothing holds me back. If she supports you, Tsubasa-chan, I’ll support Kanata-kun. That’s my choice.”

”I see. I can’t see you off, but… please take care of my best friend.”

”And you take care of ours. If you make her cry, we’ll come back and hunt you down,” Maya warned, smiling but deadly serious.

”Haha… honestly, lately she’s the one making me cry,” Tsubasa said, scratching her cheek.

 Warm laughter filled the café.

”Well then,” Tsubasa said, standing up, “we’ll be going. See you again.”

”Yeah,” Maya and Miyako said together. “See you.”

They all said “see you,” as if it were simple, casual. But this was goodbye between two worlds—their world and the other one. Normally, that would have been the end.

And yet, somehow, all of them—Tsubasa, Sayaka, Maya, and Miyako—felt deep down that it wasn’t the last time. A strange certainty and quiet hope told them they’d meet again.

 ”Alright, Maya-chan, shall we go?”

 ”Where to?”

”Shopping! We need food and supplies from here—anything to help us there. To climb ranks fast, we need every advantage! Some items here could be powerful weapons!”

Miyako marched ahead, excited. Maya smiled faintly, thinking, She’s tough. She straightened and followed.

She’d chosen to live in the other world and would do whatever it took to survive.

Walking behind Miyako, Maya thought about what to pack. Their steps echoed softly on the pavement.

 —

 The café bell chimed.

Several customers turned toward the entrance.

”Ah, Kanata-kun, this way.” Haruka called out, waving.

”Sorry, did I keep you waiting?”

”No, I just got here a bit early.”

Kanata pointed at the large glass object in front of them.

 ”What’s that?”

Haruka grinned, a sly spark in her eyes. “This place’s signature—’Couple Juice.’”

It wasn’t a glass but a vase-like container filled with clear blue soda sparkling like sunlight on water. Fruits and whipped cream floated on top, colorful like a parfait. Its notoriety came from two straws—close enough for foreheads to touch when drinking together.

”Excuse me—!” Haruka called out. A waitress came right over, already knowing the game, and politely took Haruka’s phone from her hands.

 ”Wait. You’re not—”

”I so am,” Haruka said, beaming, as she leaned forward and took one of the straws between her lips.

You’ve got to be kidding, Kanata thought.

He glanced around—customers smiled warmly, clearly watching.

”Aah… this is embarrassing,” he muttered.

”Ehehe, I’m happy though,” Haruka whispered, leaning against him, her arm entwined with his, her weight gentle but firm enough to make his heart race.

Kanata gave in, leaning in. Their foreheads touched as they sipped. Haruka laughed, feeding him a spoonful, then giggled, wiping cream off his cheek with a quick kiss. The whole scene—shy smiles, stolen glances—was recorded on her phone.

”Hehe, I’m totally showing this to El-chan. Just to flex.”

”Please don’t. I’m begging you, Kanata groaned.

”Too late. You ignored us for a whole month—you owe us time, mister.”

She puffed her cheeks, pouting like a child with all the power.

Kanata sighed. “Hey… are you really going through with it? You don’t have to force yourself.”

”I am. I decided already.” Her tone softened, but her eyes stayed sharp. “…You just don’t want to meet my parents, right?”

”Obviously. I mean, come on—” He stopped, realizing how pathetic that sounded. How could anyone enjoy it? He’d stand there, a teenager, announcing he’d take their daughter away—forever—to a world they’d never see. Any sane parent would call it madness. Why did he have to be the villain?

”Buu~,” Haruka puffed again, then poked her slightly rounded belly with a teasing smile. It wasn’t that she was pregnant—nothing like that. They’d crossed a line where it could happen.

”It’s fine,” she said lightly. “Kotono and Maria’s parents will be there too.”

 ”That’s exactly what I hate!”

After returning, the Setsugekka trio told their parents everything—about the isekai, powers, and Kanata. At first, no one believed them. But three consistent stories and girls with impossible gifts made it undeniable.

After the shock, the girls met to discuss next steps. Shizuka sparked it, saying she’d go with Kanata. With no family or ties here, she wanted to stand beside the man she loved.

Others weren’t as sure but couldn’t deny their feelings. They’d shared deeper bonds with Kanata—forged in danger, in another world.

Beyond romance, their friendships there were stronger than back home.

Practically, they had to consider their powers. Even weakened, Kotono summoned small flames, Maria healed bones in seconds, and Haruka’s crops grew twice as fast. Such powers couldn’t stay hidden. If discovered, it wouldn’t end well.

After long talks, tears, and shouting, their parents barely agreed.

It wasn’t easy. Fathers were furious—”That bastard’s stealing my daughter!”—while mothers, calmer but slyer, asked for every detail and even gave their daughters advice on how to “keep a man.”

Still, the idea of their girls leaving was unbearable. Only after Kanata promised visits did they relent—three days ago.

Last night, Shizuka told Haruka he was back. She instantly reached out, set a date, and arranged tonight’s meeting with parents.

When the train station came into view, Haruka smiled. “Time’s up. Next is Kotono’s turn. See you tonight, okay?”

She waved, heading to Kotono, who sat waiting, smiling shyly. Next: Kotono, then Maria, then parents. Just thinking about it made Kanata want to flee.

The next day, he lay on Shizuka’s lap in a quiet park, her fingers in his hair.

 ”Tired?” she asked softly.

”Nah. With a lap pillow like this, all the stress just melts away.”

 ”I’m glad,” she murmured.

He didn’t want to remember last night. Better to sink into her warmth and forget for a while.

”…Did it go well?” she asked.

 ”…More or less.”

Fathers reluctantly approved after a battle. He was grilled by mothers, forced into confessions, and made to propose—three times—under watchful eyes. And finally, after handing over the “gift” he’d spent a month building, they’d said yes.

 ”The gift?” Shizuka asked.

”Yeah. A kind of communicator. It links this world and the other one.”

Building the return circle, he and Faris experimented with energy, testing for a connection. They created a barely functional one-way device. It sent photos or messages, not real-time, randomly delivered. Still, it was something.

That tiny link comforted both sides. Parents made them promise to send pictures of future children. If research succeeded, maybe they could visit yearly. Kanata wasn’t ready to promise that—not yet.

He exhaled. “So… how many of us are actually going?”

Shizuka counted quietly. “Me, Haruka, Kotono, Maria… and Maya, Miyako. Six. Plus Kudo and the others. Around ten total.”

Of sixteen summoned, ten chose to return to the other world. Some for love, some for belonging, some because it became home.

 Even Kudo, surprisingly.

”I didn’t think Kudo would go,” Kanata said.

”Mm. Kudo-kun… swordsman… lots of girls… very popular,” Shizuka replied with a faint smile.

Kanata snorted. “So he just couldn’t give up the attention.”

Still, it fit him and others. Otaku Trio, Kudo… all chasing glory.

Thinking of Melshy left behind while Tsukamoto stayed stung.

”It’s not easy there,” he said quietly. “It’s dangerous. Rough.”

Shizuka pressed a finger to his lips. “Kanata will be there. And… we promised.”

 ”Promised?”

Her eyes softened. “That I’d cook for you every day.”

She smiled brightly, hitting him in the heart.

 Somewhere else. Another time.

”Hey, Mischeia… are we really just leaving it like this?”

”It’s fine. It’s beyond fixing anyway,” Mischeia sighed.

”But what do we tell Lady Lucy? We used an upper-unit under her authority and—”

”We’ll just say we created a working sample of coexistence,” Mischeia replied.

”But we were supposed to unify the demonkin, right?”

”Details, details. It’s Kanata Unit’s fault for not following orders! Not ours! You worry too much, Asty. What about the next assignment?”

”We’re taking a break. Helping Milpharse-sama for now.”

”Ugh, her? That means we’ll have to use that unit, right?”

”Don’t complain. If Nel hears you, she’ll crush our little sandbox.”

”Maybe that’s better. If we messed up, Nel destroying it makes sense. Kanata Unit was unpredictable! We’re trainees—not our fault!”

”…Maybe. Once Milpharse-sama gives permission, we could try using the Kanami Unit next?”

”Eh, I heard that one’s even harder to control…”

”Then we’ll watch how it performs in Milpharse-sama’s world first.”

 ”Okay… yeah.”

Their voices faded into the endless white world, the words dissolving like snow.

Thank you for reading and supporting this long journey.

Hard to believe summer’s already ending.

The next story will continue on Narou

It’s a classic isekai reincarnation adventure.

And yeah, I’ve been working on a pure-love story for years, but it keeps drifting toward forbidden territory… Maybe someday I’ll just give in and write a full R18 version.
