Chapter 40 Heroes à la Carte Part ②

 ”Mmm, I see… so that’s what’s happening,” Maya murmured.

Back in the capital city that night, Maya decided to share a bed with Miyako for the first time in a while. They held each other close, exchanging soft kisses while catching up on recent events. At first, it was just a playful act to fool the “shadows” watching them. But soon, it turned real, and now they shared a bed as true partners.

Maya had been away from the capital for only half a month, but so much had changed. Listening to Miyako’s updates overwhelmed her with information. “Should we organize this a bit?” Miyako suggested, pausing their free-flowing chat. “Yeah, but… later,” Maya replied with a grin. She gently tugged Miyako’s clothes aside and pressed her face into Miyako’s full chest.

”Ah! N-no licking!” Miyako gasped, squirming. Maya’s tongue teased her sensitive skin, focusing on the tender tips. Miyako writhed, moaning softly, “Oh! No… not there!” Maya, pleased with the reaction, used her free hand to tease the other side, making Miyako twist even more. “S-stop! I can’t…!” Miyako’s body shook, then went limp, overwhelmed by the sensation.

”Giggle, Miyako, you got there just from that?” Maya teased, sitting up. She gently parted Miyako’s legs and leaned in, kissing her intimately. “N-no! Not there!” Miyako cried out, eyes wide. Her protests turned to gasps as Maya continued, skillfully keeping her in place.

”Oh! I’m… I’m going to—!” Miyako’s voice broke into a scream as she trembled, leaving Maya’s face damp. Breathing heavily, Miyako lay there, eyes unfocused. “You’re so cute, Miyako,” Maya whispered, lifting her own skirt and slipping off her undergarments, already warm and ready.

Miyako, though weak, sat up and kissed Maya softly. “Mmm…” Her small tongue brushed Maya’s sensitive skin, drawing a shiver. Miyako tasted her, then kissed deeper, her touch gentle but firm. “Miyako…” Maya sighed. Miyako slid one finger inside, then another, moving slowly at first, then faster. “Oh! Miyako, I can’t—!” Maya gasped, reaching her limit quickly.

But Miyako didn’t stop, her fingers quickening. “My turn now,” Miyako teased with a giggle. Maya’s hips shook, and she arched back, overwhelmed. “I’m… I’m going to…! Oh!” Maya cried out, collapsing as the wave hit her.

Panting, Maya caught her breath. “Miyako… you got me,” she mumbled, still flushed. Her hand reached for Miyako, fingers teasing gently. “Let’s make you feel even better,” Maya said, moving her fingers with purpose. Miyako squirmed, moaning, “Oh… there!” Maya targeted her weak spot, intensifying her touch.

Miyako, desperate, leaned in and used her tongue to tease Maya back. “N-no, Miyako… not there!” Maya gasped, but she didn’t stop either. Their back-and-forth pushed them both to the edge. Miyako trembled first, crying out, “I’m… I’m there!” Her gentle bite sent Maya over too. “Oh! Me too… I’m—!” They both collapsed, breathless, clinging to each other as the moment faded.

After a while, they cuddled closer, lips meeting softly. Then, they returned to their earlier talk.

”Okay, let’s start with Alfheim’s problems,” Miyako said, her tone serious.

Alfheim Kingdom faced two big issues. First, the threat from monsters in the Forest of Evil and the Demonkin nation beyond it. Second, trouble with the Empire at the Northern Region’s border. Until recently, a delicate balance kept things stable. But the Empire’s recent moves had upset that balance, so the kingdom sent Heroes to a fortress to restore it.

”Even so,” Miyako continued, “Demonkin are moving into Aaren Plain, and the monsters in the Forest of Evil are getting stronger. It’s a tightrope. Without us, Alfheim would’ve fallen to either the Demonkin or the Empire by now.” While Maya was away, Miyako had led magic soldiers to fend off several monster attacks. “The Adventurers helped a lot,” she added, blushing when Maya praised her.

Maya nodded, then brought up another issue: the Heroes weren’t united. Taichi and his group had left the castle to work as Adventurers, protected by the Guild. This made it hard for Almea, a kingdom official, to control them. For now, they were cooperating as Adventurers, so the kingdom was watching and waiting. “Huh, that nerdy trio?” Maya said, impressed. She hadn’t expected them to act so independently.

”And Setsugekka are doing great too,” Miyako added. Yukishiro Kotono, Tsukikage Maria, and Hanasaki Haruka—known as Setsugekka (T/N: meaning “Snow, Moon, Flower,” a nickname for their beauty)—were childhood friends, always together. During a recent monster attack, Kotono’s magic pushed the monsters back, Maria’s healing saved many townspeople, and Haruka restored damaged fields, ensuring a good harvest. Miyako had directed their efforts, which filled Maya with pride. “My shy Miyako’s grown so much! I’m so happy!” Maya said, hugging her tightly. “Ugh, too tight, big sis!” Miyako laughed, squirming but smiling.

They played and talked late into the night.

Later, Maya confirmed details with a soldier captain. “So, the Heroes sent to the fortress are Morita Kazuo, Tsukamoto Joujirou, Kudo Koichi, Kimura Gou, and Nozaki Sumire—five in total, right?” The captain nodded. “And they have three thousand soldiers?” “Yes,” the captain confirmed. “Then we don’t need more soldiers,” Maya said firmly. The soldiers groaned, eager to join her. Almea, a kingdom official, pleaded, “Please, Maya, take at least two thousand. It’s about their morale.” Maya shook her head. “No. The fortress already has eight thousand soldiers, and with the Empire’s army, it’s double that. More would strain food supplies. Plus, the capital needs strong defenses. I’m taking Miyako, and Shizuka’s group is off somewhere. What if monsters attack again?”

Almea hesitated, unable to argue. “Besides,” Maya added, “Saya alone is worth a thousand soldiers. With Miyako, that’s two thousand. We’ll be fine.” She reassured Almea, who looked worried.

Of the sixteen Heroes, five were at the fortress. Shizuka’s group of four was away on a mission. Maya and Miyako were about to leave the capital, and Sayaka and Tsubasa were at the northern border. That left only Setsugekka—Kotono, Maria, and Haruka—to guard the capital. Maya worried they might not be enough against a monster attack. When Sayaka’s five thousand soldiers returned, it would help. Maya also planned to reorganize the fortress’s troops and send three thousand back. If needed, she’d ask Saya to stay in the capital. Based on Miyako’s info, this plan should handle an attack like the last one.

”Alright,” Almea said softly. “Stay safe… big sis.” Her whisper was for Maya alone. Maya smiled warmly, then left the Royal Palace with Miyako.

A battle loomed over Aaren Plain. Trouble was brewing.
